I want to add textboxes in my form as per the input I give. Say, My code will prompt me to enter the no of files I would like to upload... If I give input as "3".... it should generate 3 textboxes to enter the file names....

View 9 RepliesI want to take the values from textboxes on a windows form and then update the values in the sql server database...I want to update only those fields for which a value has been entered by the user and leave the database fields as it is (no change or updation) for which the textboxes are left empty by the user.....I opted for sql command and then i couldn't find out How can I generate the query dynamically for such a situation??? Like I intialize the string by str= " Update Bookings set " and then how i can alter it by considering the textbox values that have been changed....I couldn't find the way...I need shortest and optimized code for this situation....

I generate by random 2 number A&B I multiply them and I will compare it with the result in my textbox3
if it the same as the computer has calculated il will show you congratulation, however i will say try again
I have a problem to calculate the sum, A&B are well generated but nothing in Calc Result
When Calc was working when I write nothing in the textbox3 and i click on Verify it show the msgbox congratulation.I'm looking just for this step, I've fixed the other issues And another things When It's right I would like to random another number for A&B after closing the msgbox, how can I processd ?

Trying to write my program in vb.net 2010. I have read my 2 books and have been playing with the code a bit. Got streamreader and writer and My Namespace understood as far as text files go. Now I'm trying to get all my textboxes in tabcontrol tabpage1 to be cleared of text thru the For Each loop.
I've tried various ways and keep getting invalidcastexception error. I even changed the tabcontrol and tabpage modifiers to public. That did not work either.

I thought the code would not only clear all textboxes on tabpage1 but on all the tabpages. The help tells me that "When casting from a number, the value must be a number less than infinity and to make sure the source type is convertible to the destination type. I have three tabpages and that is definitly less than infinity. The source type and destination type puzzle me a bit.
Here is what I got using intellisense, however it not only clears the textboxes of text on tabpage1, but it clears the labels and buttons of text too so it is not a perfect solution.

What I would like to know is how do I access the tables in the dataqbase and transfer the data in them into textboxes on the forms in my application. Now i called this function on the button click of my login form and passed the values of username and password textboxes as parameters to it. But the problem arising is that it is logging in by simply clicking the button irrespective of what is entered in the username and password textboxes.

I have a windows service that I have written. Each time i start the service, it performs the task that i want just fine, but after that it stop executing even though it shows that the service has started and is running. The service reads files that are dumped in a directory and writes the info for each file to a DB, then deletes the files.
Again, each time i start the service, it runs just fine but then does not loop...so it just runs only once.So if i continue to dump files into the directory during the day, the service does not detect the ones that where added after it started. Right now,I am forced to manually restart the service to pick up the files that were dumped after the last restart. Does anyone know how I can get this to keep looping periodically to detect files that have been dumped in the directory? Here is what my code looks like so far.. also, how do i make changes to this code to show errors?

I have a 9x9 grid of many textboxes in my form, and I am trying to output the position of each textbox, as well as its contents, to a text file. For example, if the textbox (3,4) contains 5, I would like to output 3 4 5 to a file, and so on for each text box. Also, I really have no way of knowing which textbox is which, they are only called TextBox1, TextBox2, etc.

I have a form that has a tabcontrol (TabControl1) and within that tab control is another one (TabControl2). I have textboxes on the main form as well as in each of the tabcontrols.

What happens is that it records those textboxes that have changed and writes it to addendum.text. The problem is that it is only capturing those textboxes on my main form and none of the textboxes that get changed within TabControl1 or TabControl2.

I'm dynamically creating x number of textboxes on my form. Once I have done this and the user has done some stuff with them they need to be able to remove all of these textboxes to start again. I've written this code to go in a button, but it only gets rid of two of the textboxes at a time rather than them all in one button click (so it takes like 8 button presses to clear all of the textboxes on the form). Can anyone see the problem?
