View 7 RepliesI've got a form with no borders, and I am wondering how a user would be able to move this form around. I would like it to be moved the same way a form would move by left-clicking and holding the top border. I know that's a little vague, so if you need any more info feel free to ask...
View 1 RepliesI have been trying to discover how to make the contents of a form expand or retract in response to moving its borders by grabbing them with the mouse, or by use of the 'Maximise' or 'Restore Down' controls.The explanation in Help concerning TableLayoutPanel, Panel, Anchor and Auto size doesnt help much, especially as it I cant get it to work.
View 7 RepliesIs there any way I can move a form in the center of the screen ? I am talking about run time for a form that is already shown . I need this because some times this form may become larger or smaller during run time and I'd like it to be moved in the center of the screen in order to look better . Back in VB6 I used to show again the form (despite being already shown) by MyForm.Show , which resulted i the form being moved to the center , but now it seems this doesn't work anymore ...
View 7 RepliesSomeone please explain this to me like you would to a complete idiot.I want to make a shaped form according to an image.The transparency key only works under 16 bit graphics and we all work on 32bit. Then the entire background shows.The clipping is also very un-neat.So how do you shape a form neatly according to an image WITHOUT using transparency key so it will work in all graphic modes?
View 5 Replieshow I could make a custom form, by setting the FormBorderStyle to None, and making it transpatent without setting the TransparencyKey to a color...
Because when you set the TransparencyKey property to, let's say 121; 121; 121, and it got a button which got the same color on the ForeColor, and then it disapears...
Here's an example of how it looks like when the form is transparent:

I have a custom shaped form with a transparency key of black. With the opacity set to 100%, I do not see the garbage around my custom shaped form As soon as I change the opacity, I see a transparent square(my borderless form) around my form.
How do I make it where my form retains its custom shape, and can have an opacity of less than 100%?
If you want something you've never had, you need to do something you've never done.
I have been making a webbrowser for a while now, everything works well, except i am unable to make the 'open in a new window' button work right. So far i have managed to get a new instance of my form to open with the right url, but i am unable to keep that new form open when the orginal parent form closes.
Code:
Private Sub WebBrowser1_NewWindow(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.ComponentModel.CancelEventArgs) Handles WebBrowser1.NewWindow
e.Cancel = True
Dim Href As String
[code]....
I am after some code to load another form when the user closes the current form. I have tried this

Is there a way in vs2010 (vb.net) to create a form that has alpha transparency support?
And
How do i get a form similar to the splash screen in vs2010 AKA odd shaped and alpha drop shadowed?
I have need for a customised form as the main page of my app, what I'm looking for is to create an amoebic shaped form, something like this. I realize that my 'window' will by nature need to be rectangular and that i will need it to have no titlebar and transparent edges, also i will need to have 'regions' on this form that will allow the form to be closed and turned into a standard rectangular form. I have no idea where to begin with doing this but I hope and presume it is possible with vb.net. The image I have used is for illustrative purposes only, i don't plan to do exactly this (my app is a database not a media player for one thing) If having it is a breach of copyright in this context I will remove it.

I have a MDI container form with menustrip, toolstrip and statusstrip on it. The backcolor of these items is black. The toolstrip and statusstrip show ugly white borders around them which I want to get rid of but there seems to be no such property like bordercolor or anything where I could change them.
View 1 RepliesI have a form which has no window borders, but I still want to be able to resize the window? How might i achieve this? Even just a few options, like 'small' 'medium' and 'large' size would be fine if it cant be normally resized.
View 5 RepliesI'm trying to create a shaped form with an attractive shadow effect by painting progressive alpha blended layers underneath the main visible form area (a background mask color has also been set to allow a shaped form). This is going well, but I have one major problem to resolve - the bottom shadow layer does not appear as the correct transparent shade - it always appears solidly as the background color / transparent mask color for the form.
Why does this bottom shadow layer not show up as transparent, and why is this color being shown when it is set as the transparency key for the form (and so should be invisible anyway)???[URL]..
I'm making a windows forms application, and I would like to know how to get a control to be on top of the titlebar/control box where the window title is displayed similar to the save icon on the Win7 Paint program or the tabs for Google Chrome.
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to have Aero Glass look in my forms in VB.NET 2010 app with DWM API, but as function call suggests, it extends look of Frame to the client area, and if form has no border, nothing will happen and form will become invisible. So, can I get Aero glass in a form without any border.... ??
View 1 RepliesI have a windows application that I have created using Visual Basic 2005. I am a new user and have learned a few things, but quite an amateur! I need to printout a windows form but I do not want the form to have menu bars or borders printed. The windows form contains the data that I have updated using a Sequel Server 2005 DataBase. The form needs to be printed by clicking a Print Form Button on the form.Is this possible with VB 2005. i noticed a PowerPacks out there, but when I downloaded the tab does not appear on the VB 2005 Express Edition I am using.
View 1 RepliesHow can I update and get values in a Windows Forms application while moving one form to other form (like cookies)?
I need to update the values to some variable and again I am going to refer stored values and need to do some calculations.
I have used cookies in ASP.NET but I am not able to find out the same concept in .NET Windows Forms (C#).
How can these issues be resolves?
simple problem Basically in form1 i have a line of SQL code in a rich text box called rtb_select
what i would like..This code to run under a connection string called strSQLSelectQuery in form2
I have been told someting like strSQLselectQuery = rtb_select.text would work however because rtb_select is in a different form in the same project it does not recognise rtb_Select
when you login it is the meaning that another form opens. But as soon as the new form opens up everything closes. The code i used is this:
Public Class Form1
Public Goldhave As Integer
Public UserName2, Password As String
[Code].....
I have one form which stays open, and lots of other forms which can are opened and closed regularly how can i detect that a form has closed on the main form?
View 6 RepliesI´m new here, so excuse me if this is the wrong area. I've already read about this in this forum, but it didn´t kill my doubts. I have an form, called AddInstrPadr, wich is created by the MdiParent:
[Code]...
When opening a button and opening a new form as soon as it opens it close for some reason but its not giving any errors as to why its doing this now I've checked the linked linking it to the next form that's fine.
Private Sub PrintPerscription_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load
Login.con.Open()
sql = "SELECT Patient.* FROM Patient where Patient.Wardno = " & Login.WardNo.ToString
da = New OleDb.OleDbDataAdapter(sql, Login.con)
noOfRows = da.Fill(dsPatient, "Patient")

I have the following code so the user must confirm cancel action, however the form closes on both yes/no action.why the form does not remain active when the result = no?
Private Sub btnCancel_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnCancel.Click
Dim resultDialogue As System.Windows.Forms.DialogResult
resultDialogue = MessageBox.Show(
"Do you want to cancel the Add Worker function?", "Confirm Cancel", MessageBoxButtons.YesNo, MessageBoxIcon.Question)
If resultDialogue = Windows.Forms.DialogResult.Yes Then
ClearDtls()
Me.Close()
End If
End Sub
i'm using exit sub when a certain condition does not meet. but the problem is that the form closes. it should not close the form, instead, it should only exit from a click event. I'm using VB2008Express Edition and MS Access at the back end.[code]
View 4 RepliesI have a problem here I hope someone can help me out. I have this application in which I show information about workplans. It has a Main Form which show the general information and the activites that are going to take place during the execution.
The application has the ability to "attach" documents to the activities. I have created another form (and MDI form) that I use to show the documents (pdfs) when a user clicks on one of the documents attached. The problem is that when I close the form that shows the documents, it ends the application and I don't know why. It should just close and leave me again with the Main Form. Can someone tell me why is this form terminating the app. Is it because is MDI or what?
Basically, I have developed one form which is generic and display different views. On that form I have used Close button. Alphabet E is short-cut for closing the form (i.e. mnemonic functionality).During execution of the form, when I press "E" on that form, my form closes automatically. As per my understanding mnemonic works with Alt control only. I am not sure if I am missing any properties that should be set so that this problem is resolved.
View 1 RepliesSo I've got a somewhat common problem from what I can tell from the search results..I developed a program, got a beta version performing well, noticed a few small bugs, fixed the (all code-related) bugs, and now the program will open and then close immediately. I believe I have determined that the problem is not code related as I have commented outall of the code and it still refuses to stay open until I tell it otherwise. From heaforementioned search results many people have found this to be due to a ensingtonproduct, however I do not own such a product nor do I have any Kensington softwa
