I have an ASP.NET application with a SQL Server back end. I am storing all my dates in UTC format and doing the appropriate conversions to the local time zone of the browser viewing it. One of the pages asks for a start date and end date (no times).
I am taking the start date and setting the time to 00:00:00 hours (midnight) and I'm taking the End time and adding a time of 23:59:59, so that the date range covers the whole day. Now what I'm trying to do is do a SQL query to do a search for records in this date range. The problem is, the data in SQL is in UTC time and the user is typing their dates and times in their local date and times. My quickest solution was to convert the date and time to UTC, then search the records. However, by doing this, I am to believe ASP.NET converts the given time and date to UTC based on the server time zone. How can I convert a date and time to UTC time based on the time zone of the user?
I want to populate the dropdownlist ddVerantwortlich1 with the people with the proper credentials based on the selected process step ddProzesss chritt1.It doesn't work if I want to change it using datasource and databindi have to manually loop through the table in the dataset returned from the query. then it works. but not otherwise.[code]

View 6 RepliesI'm Making a Simple syntax highlighter and I'm Doing the highlighting in the text Changed event of a RTB and for obvious reasons I can't re highlight the whole document each time someone presses a key so i highlight one line each time the text changes. But this creates a Problem. If someone pastes code into the RichTextBox It only highlights the last Line. So is there a way to get if the user typed the text in with his keyboard or pasted it from the clipboard in the text Changed event?

My program timestamps things, and I want to make sure the time is correct. So when the program starts, I will run a query (SELECT GETDATE()) from my SQL server, and record the difference, in seconds, between the SQL server time, and the time returned from NOW(). Then when I timestamp things, I will just adjust the time. I cannot run a query every time. But, if someone changes the clock on the computer, that would throw the timestamp off. So I need a way to know when this has happened, so I can recalculate the difference.
Notice that everytime the winform first loads, it will trigger 2 comboboxes ( each tabs each comboboxes ) selected index changed event from,

The commented code won't work. That's because by the time the thread start, the variable currentFarm have changed. So I create a new function and cache the currentFarm in the function parameter. No there will be a cache of currentFarm address (object is always a pointer) on a stack and that address is the one being passed to the System.Threading.Thread constructor.
I have written a multithreaded crawler and the process is simply creating threads and having them access a list of urls to crawl. They then access the urls and parse the html content. All this seems to work fine. Now when I need to write to tables in a database is when I experience issues. I have 2 declared arraylists that will contain the content each thread parse. The first arraylist is simply the rss feed links and the other arraylist contains the different posts. I then use a for each loop to iterate one while sequentially incrementing the other and writing to the database. My problem is that each time a new thread accesses one of the lists the content is changed and this affects the iteration. I tried using nested loops but it did not work before and this works fine using a single thread.

Somewhere in the VB2008 "configuration" files I believe that I need to manually change the old path to the new path.
I found the old path in the ".suo" file. The ".suo" file is not a text file. How can I edit the .suo file, save it so that it will work?

My plan is to store the original value in the tag and comapre in the validated event.
I don't won't to write the same code everytime I need a control to behave that way. I've never written a customcontrol before.

I have an number of text boxes and comboboxes on different forms. I have textchanged events which trigger a msgbox if the user enters invalid data(i.e. the number they enter is to big or to small). Is their a simple way to make the program not call the textchanged event when the form is loaded and the boxes get their initial value? Second is their a way to make the textchanged only be triggered when the user enters data not when the program clears the boxes?

The SelectedIndex value is the connect index, but Tex is always the text of the previously selected index. I have one text box that contains a value for the "Start Time" and another text box that contains a value for the "End Time."Both of the values are expressed in a format for military time (i.e. 1200, 1300, 1430, etc.).When the "End Time" text box loses focus, I would like the "Elasped Time" (expressed in minutes) to appear in a third text box.Seems easy enough...right?Well the problem I'm having is since the first two numbers in military time are base 24 and the last two numbers are base 60, a standard calculation subtracting the "End Time" from the "Start Time" does not yield an accurate result.

But i can't seem to create this, what i did was to sort the time first from lowest to highest. Then sorted the points from highest to lowest.
Now my problem is, when i display the results. This is what i get.

Made sure INotifyPropertyChanged was implemented on my object.Created a class to expose the properties I am interested in as attached properties.Binded the properties of the object to the attached properties of the rectangle Created a style that uses triggers to set the rectangle fill based on attached properties.
This works, but only the first time the property of the object changes. After that, the attached properties do not seem to be receiving notification when the data object's property changes. I have double checked and my data object is raising the INotifyPropertyChanged event.

im trying to add a text changed method to my listview item. all the items are dynamicly created so i would think id have to use an addhandler listviewitem1.textChanged addressof listviewitems_click where listviewitems_click is the generic sub to handle the click. but the listviewitem control doesnt have a text changed event, but you can rename the text in the control anyway.

I'm in an upper level industrial engineering class in which we're learning some entry level VB programming. We're working on building a program to solve the travelling salesmen problem (finding the shortest path through a collection of cities while visiting each only once) and I'm trying to add some 'fancy' to it so I can learn some more skills. The basic program is designed to load a bitmap file of a map into a picture box and a text file with the xy coordinates of any city positions. From there, the user can plot the cities with red squares, draw a random tour through the cities, or tour the cities by always visiting the nearest neighbor not yet visited. The modification I'm working on is a method of pointing out a specific city with a black square by entering the city's number (determined from the coordinate file) into a text box.

So far, the program works, but I want the black squares (but none of the other graphics) that are created to go away once the text box is cleared. As of now they just hang around on the screen until I refresh the entire image with a 'clear map' sub. Any suggestions on how to accomplish this?
