Time Zones And Formatting?

Apr 29, 2012

I am trying to convert CST to 3 different times zones 9.5 ---Afgan and 5----UTC. I Have got this to work 3 ways now But i need it in "HHmm" format with no : currently going from value to text to string is the only way i can get the look i want. I need to either Add +5 to the write string (assuming that will still stay in 24 format if that's done) or i need a solid way to convert to HHmm without the coloHeres what i got,

oonwH = Convert.ToDateTime(oonwHr.Value)
oonwM = Convert.ToDateTime(oonwmin.Value)
I KNOW these lines are useless just haven't taken them out yet

Formatting Output With Zones?

Oct 8, 2009

Is there a rule of thumb used to set the character width of a zone?

For example:

Dim fmtstr As String = "{0,-10}{1,12}{2,14}{3,12}"
lstcolleges.Items.Clear()
lstcolleges.Items.Add(String.Format(fmtstr, "College", "enrollment", "endowment", "public ss"))

This will align the text nicely into a list box. How do I determine how to set the character width?

Converting Time To Different Time Zones?

Feb 20, 2011

I have trying to complete an assignment where I have to convert a string from user input to all different US time zones and then display them. At first I tried doing this just by using math but it seemed extremely inefficient and messy so I was told to use the DateTime function which seems easier with the exception of one thing - I have found absolutely no examples of converting time to different time zones. I was able to take the string and convert it to UTC time thinking it would make it easier but now I don't know how to convert them to PST, EST, MST, or CST. I included the function below:

Private Sub timeDifference()
Dim meridiem As String
Dim ante As String = " AM"[code].....

The problem is that, for example, if the time for example is 9.15 am it will show as 9:15:0 What I want to do is format them so if any of the values(Hours, Minutes or seconds) is less than 10, it will add a 0 before the number so as the number shows as 09:15:00. What I tried is this but it does not work: [Code]

Date Time Formatting In A Text Box?

Oct 5, 2009

I'm try to come up with a way for a user to enter a date and time into a textbox and for that value to be saved as a datetime variable back into a database. I'm wondering if anyone knows of a clever way to restrict what values a the user can enter so that the datetime datatype isn't corrupted. I've been playing around with the date time picker but I cannot seem to get that to work for me. I'd like the user to either pick the date and time from a picker and save that into a variable. Or I've seen applications where the textbox will automatically have a formatting type of template that makes it hard for the user to enter an invalid date and time.

Formatting 24hour Time As Entered By The Programs User

Aug 30, 2011

I have a question in relation to formatting text fro 24-hour time.

The format I require is always as follows 00:00

How can I make the ":" appear as soon as the second digit is entered as this is required to separate hours from minutes and also how can I force a 0 to appear for any numbers up to and including 9?

Examples being: 00, 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07, 08, 09.

These zeros are required but may be forgotten by the user entering them into the textbox?

Formatting Excel - If I Try Using Style.numberformat With The Date And Time Formats, They Don't Change And Are Entered As If Didn't Change The Format?

Mar 11, 2011

I am throwing some data out into Excel and am having some formatting troubles. I have 5 columns (date, time, a long number I don't want displayed in scientific notation - text is fine, text, text). I can get it all working with numberformat, however I have to do them different ways.

Date works this way cell.numberformat = "m/d/yy" and it formats it to say 3/1/11

Time works this way cell.numberformat = "h:mm AM/PM" and it formats it to say 8:07 AM

For the long number cell.numberformat = "@" and it doesn't change the format and it gets displayed in scientific notation

BUT if I use cell.style.numberformat = "@" it works as it should, but it messes up all of the date and time cells. Apparently when you use style.numberformat, it doesn't just apply to the cell you're working with. If I try using style.numberformat with the date and time formats, they don't change and are entered as if I didn't change the format at all.

Converting C++ Printf Formatting To / From String Formatting

Sep 30, 2010

I have some VB .NET software that interfaces to a load of old (but sound) COM objects. The VB provides a GUI for the COM objects, part of which consists of setting various options on the COM objects - several of which relate to string formatting.I have a simple pair of VB .NET functions that convert basic %f, %d, %g formats to/from .NET equivalents using a large select case covering specific common strings, but they don't cover all formats.[code]Before I start diving in and making it more versatile with some parsing, does anyone know of a class (eg VB or C# .NET) that provides a decent ready-made implementation? Or perhaps some regexp wizadry could be used?

C# - Convert A Date And Time To UTC Time Based On The Time Zone Of The User?

Sep 6, 2009

I have an ASP.NET application with a SQL Server back end. I am storing all my dates in UTC format and doing the appropriate conversions to the local time zone of the browser viewing it. One of the pages asks for a start date and end date (no times).

I am taking the start date and setting the time to 00:00:00 hours (midnight) and I'm taking the End time and adding a time of 23:59:59, so that the date range covers the whole day. Now what I'm trying to do is do a SQL query to do a search for records in this date range. The problem is, the data in SQL is in UTC time and the user is typing their dates and times in their local date and times. My quickest solution was to convert the date and time to UTC, then search the records. However, by doing this, I am to believe ASP.NET converts the given time and date to UTC based on the server time zone. How can I convert a date and time to UTC time based on the time zone of the user?

List To Update Every Time And Show The Values Each Time To Which The Previous Value Is Added To The New Calculation?

Year 2: $2,724.32
Year 3: $4,350.76

Clock - UTC - Give The Users Current Time Zone/local Time

Jul 22, 2011

So I currently have the following:

2 timers

2 labels

1st label is "Clock" this pulls the time from the users current time zone/local time

2nd label is "UTCClock" Which would be UTC time

Now I have this for the first label: clock.Text = Format(TimeOfDay, "hh:mm:ss tt")

Which would give the users current time zone/local time. As for the UTC.. how would I add in for the UTC time from where the user is located at? I did some searches.. but couldnt find what I was looking for.. IM pretty sure its not as easy as getting the users current time zone/local time.. So im assuming that Theres a "bit more" code into getting UTC time..
