i am trying to format the result of a calculation to time.In VB6 I would use: answer = format(answer,"00.00")But in VB2008 this does not work,What I am trying to ahieve is always to display "00.00"

The problem is that, for example, if the time for example is 9.15 am it will show as 9:15:0 What I want to do is format them so if any of the values(Hours, Minutes or seconds) is less than 10, it will add a 0 before the number so as the number shows as 09:15:00. I have a DataGridView that is showing some weird numerical data. For example, my under lying datatable of the datagridview has 4.69, but the datagridview shows 4.6899999999999999995. What is weird is it doesn't do it for every cell in the column. For example, my underlying datatable has 2.66 and the datagridview cell shows 2.66, which is correct. I should note that the underlying datatable column that contains the numbers is of floating point data type which comes from the database column and the datagridview column is TextBox. View 5 RepliesI'm try to come up with a way for a user to enter a date and time into a textbox and for that value to be saved as a datetime variable back into a database. I'm wondering if anyone knows of a clever way to restrict what values a the user can enter so that the datetime datatype isn't corrupted. I've been playing around with the date time picker but I cannot seem to get that to work for me. I'd like the user to either pick the date and time from a picker and save that into a variable. Or I've seen applications where the textbox will automatically have a formatting type of template that makes it hard for the user to enter an invalid date and time.

I am attempting to display time in a label on my MainForm. The label should display a stopwatch control's elapsed time in hh:mm:ss format. My code is displaying "00:00:00". I have defined the hh, mm and ss as variables but I can't seem to figure out how to use them effectively.

I have a databound textbox that I would like formatted as a phone number ((###) ###-####), instead of being displayed as 10 numbers.
I'm using this on a databound label, which works fine. The same doesn't work on a textbox, though.

How can I make the ":" appear as soon as the second digit is entered as this is required to separate hours from minutes and also how can I force a 0 to appear for any numbers up to and including 9?
Examples being: 00, 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07, 08, 09.
These zeros are required but may be forgotten by the user entering them into the textbox?
I'm trying to alter the existing number formatting in my company's application to make it more readable for international users. This is a stock trading application, so most stock prices come in with numbers precise to 2 decimal points, like so-> 17.23 We could also get ticks in that have precision out to 4 decimal points, so a penny stock might be 0.0341. The original string format that we were using for stocks was "#,##0.00##" Which would give us the format we wanted (essentially trimming '0's). The problem here is the ',' and '.' are forced onto the user, where in many other countries the thousands separator is '.' and the decimal point is ','. Boss man doesn't want to use "N4" for all numbers, even though this would resolve the globalization issue. Is it possible to have a globalized custom string format?
Other options besides writing some middle man code to internationalize numbers formatted the original way or another string.format method?

I am throwing some data out into Excel and am having some formatting troubles. I have 5 columns (date, time, a long number I don't want displayed in scientific notation - text is fine, text, text). I can get it all working with numberformat, however I have to do them different ways.
Date works this way cell.numberformat = "m/d/yy" and it formats it to say 3/1/11
Time works this way cell.numberformat = "h:mm AM/PM" and it formats it to say 8:07 AM
For the long number cell.numberformat = "@" and it doesn't change the format and it gets displayed in scientific notation
BUT if I use cell.style.numberformat = "@" it works as it should, but it messes up all of the date and time cells. Apparently when you use style.numberformat, it doesn't just apply to the cell you're working with. If I try using style.numberformat with the date and time formats, they don't change and are entered as if I didn't change the format at all.

I am developing a form where I want the user to enter a complete recipe. In any recipe, I have no way to know how many different ingredients or how many steps will be involved. So if I am using a row consisting of a textbox, a combobox, and a textbox to represent 1 ingredient. how do I generate a dynamic number of these controls at run time? I have the same problem when I store the steps in creating the recipe. I need to create a dynamic number of textboxes to record each step.
