Triggering Sound Files With Joystick Input

I have only started using VB yesterday and have managed to make some very basic programs run. What I am trying to do now is design a program that will play 4 different sound files depending on the position of a joystick. I am not looking for any kind of gradient to be involved. Any kind of forward position should play the file associated with "forward". Any kind of left position should play the file associated with "left". And the same for "back" and "right".

I am writing a program in VB express 2008 which I want to be able to receive input from an xbox controller as well as activate the rumble on the controller. I am using the XBCD drivers for the controller [URL].Basically I want to say "the further forward the thumbstick is pushed the more the controller should vibrate".

I have made a small program that reads the input of a joystick/GamePad and passes it on to a serial port. It works great I can see all the buttons pressed ect ( in a textbox). But When I minimize the form and press some buttons they are no longer passed on to the serial port and not shown into the textbox?

This is a spin-off post from another issue I am working on. The problem is related to triggering event handlers when the user makes an input into a combo box, you might even call this a complaint.I have a combobox with a DataSource and ValueMember and DisplayMember. There is no DataBindings to worry about at this point. The combobox is DropDownStyle = DropDown and I havealso enabled AutoCompleteSource = ListSource and AutoCompleteMode = SuggestAppend.The datasource contains a list of Countires, and when the user types in an entry or chooses an entry from the combobox, I should be able to detect what the user has selected ortyped immediatley after the selection, some would say it's the very purpose of the combo box.Which event would you choose to deterine what the user has entered or Selected? few events come to mind:

So right now it all looks pretty with ... <button type="submit" runat="server" name="subscribe" id="Button1" class="link-button" onserverclick="saveListing"> Until it is time to validate the data before calling saveListing function codebehind (in VB .Net). How can true/false be return so that when true saveListing will be called, otherwise not?

I am wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction.
I would like to add mic input into my application.
I am thinking of having text boxes in a vertical row. When the user speaks into the microphone the text boxes will be filled according sound level.
I could find anything that does this using the .Net framework.

I am using sound files in my project it is saved to my usb so when I use another computer I have to chang the location of the sound file I was wondering if there is a way so that when my project is put in to use the sound file location dose not have to be changed I mean is there a way to save it in to the prohere is my code

i got the following things:
-A button (called "btnplayvoice")
-A textbox(multi-line enabled, called "txtinput")
-Some *.wav audio files in my "resources" (2 of them called "A.wav" and "B.wav", of course there are still some more sound files in my resources xD)Note: the button and the txtbox are in the same form.
i want to make a program with this feature:When I type "B A"(note between "B" and "A" has a space)into txtinput, then i click the btnplayvoice, it will look up and check the resources and see if the wav file exists there, if yes, it will play the related(same as inputed) sound files one by one in correct order. That mean in this case I should hear "B.wav -> A.wav" in this order.

In my application I play sound files that are located in a folder on my computer's desktop.

Now that I'm ready to deploy my app, I want to reference all the audio files so others can hear them in the application.
I read how to reference them... but what I don't know:
Do I have to change the above code to some sort of reference folder in my application instead of my desktop?

To programming and have a question with sound files. I am trying to figure out the basics and here is what I did: I created a button that is supposed to play a sound.
My.Computer.Audio.Play("C:.......file.wav")
When I click this button in my .exe file it obviously plays because I am using the computer with the above location for the .wav file. When I use the .exe on another computer it doesn't play because it does not recognize that .wav location. How do I make this work for me? Do I need to embed the .wav with my .exe somehow?

However, I need a 3rd Audio instance to play out of another output such as the Rear or Centre. I need to get the decibel level of sound being sent to the sound card (not the actual sound level the speakers are instructed to emit via volume level)There is next to no information i can find on the net to even access sound data. Would anyone oppose to me posting this same thread on other forums?I will of course post a solution if one is found elsewhere without advertising external websites.

I'm working on a project where I have to send data to the serial port through a radio modem onto a servo controller. Everything works fine but since I use a timer to detect joystick changes (directX). Even if I don't touch the joystick, because of the timer it still sends data thru which is killing my battery on the receiver side.
