Basically, my program is supposed to display the list of students that have been entered. (Into a listbox.) Here's the AddStudent code (which works as far as I know)
Public Sub AddStudent(ByVal FullName As String, ByVal Gpa As Integer, ByVal Major As String, ByVal SocialSecurityNumber As String)
_FullName(ENROLLMENT) = FullName
_Gpa(ENROLLMENT) = Gpa[code]......
Here's where the problem comes in...I need to return a value from "GetAllStudents" that can be used with the lisbox. Here's the code for that:
Public Function GetAllStudents() As String
Dim i As Integer = 0
Dim aryStudents(50) As String[code]....
This obviously doesn't work. It gives an error that I can't convert a 1dimensional string to an array.
I'm trying to turn a string array that contains string , numeric and date values some of the string values are in hebrew when turning them to a single string (using join or through a loop) the order of the values comes out wrong
Its extracted from a text document and put in a multi line textbox in the same format. What I want to do is read each line and put it in an array, however i couldn't find code to read line by line, so I have a series of questions
1. What code do I need to put in an If statement so if it is a return (i.e. the next line) Then it runs
2. Is there a simple way to read line by line in multi textboxs so I don't need to do question 1
I have a small 10px by 10px image, and I want to use VB.NET to find out if that image is (an exact) part of a larger image.I thought a method of doing this would be to lock the bits of the larger image into memory and then loop through each pixel in the image and for each pixel, I could take the 10px by 10px section which is down and to the right of that pixel.. and then compare it to my smaller image.
This is the code I have so far:
'Lockbits of larger image to memory Dim bmp As New Bitmap(Image.FromFile(System.AppDomain.CurrentDomain.BaseDirectory() & "picture.bmp")) Dim pxF As PixelFormat = PixelFormat.Format24bppRgb
[code]....
when I'm looping through the 10 by 10 section and I find the R G B bytes for each pixel, how do I store this in my rawImage array so I can convert it to a back bitmap and compare it with my original small 10by10 image?
I have been tasked to create a Visual Basic console script that asks the user 5 times in a row to input a number into an array (sales figures in thousands), Then you display these results as a sort of tally chart.
For example for the data: sales(10,7,12,5,15) The output would be 2008:++++++++++ 2009:+++++++ 2010:++++++++++++

how to change the integer value from within the array into a certain number of a single character.
i have an array contains a-z.Then i have a textbox and when click on the button, it will replace the text inside the textbox to the index number of the array.Example, from "abc" will become "0 1 2" The code below do the job.how to do so that i can replace the text inside the textbox from "0 1 2" back to "abc" based on the array?
Dim txtKey As String = readKeyTxt.Text readKeyTxt.Text = "" For Each b As String In txtKey[code].....
I am writing an OPC Client in VB.NET (2008) and I am using an OPC wrapper from Graybox. I am having some problems with the data types. I have an Array of String that contains all of the OPC Items that I wish to read from the OPC Server. When I attempt to use the Array of String, Option Strict causes the following compile error message:Error 5 Option Strict On disallows narrowing from type 'System.Array' to type '1-dimensional array of String' in copying the value of 'ByRef' parameter 'ItemIDs' back to the matching argument. How do I pass the Item ID's (all strings) in an array?
Some of you might remember that my application got data from a PLC which is a Short. That is converted into his base 2 equivelant and turned into a boolean array.Problem is, this 16 bit word i'm getting is little endian (right to left) and I want to turn it into a big endian (left to right).
I have an array defined As string and the value stored in site is like "7E", "A1" and so on. But in order to send out this array through serial port. I need to change the the array to As Byte instead of using As String. How can I convert it?
I've been working with a sig capture application sample on a windows mobile device, The data is sent via IP to a host as a byte array and is then drawn onto the screen of the host as it appeared on the client. I was able to get this into the form of a bitmap object so I could print it or save to a jpg file. That all works well. The problem now is that I need to store this data in a database and then be able to recall it at a later time and recreate the signature image.
The byte array data is much smaller than the actual image so I would like to store it in that form. My issue is that when I convert this byte array into a string and back again my program can no longer re-create the image. Once I saw the problem I created the code below as a test and added the msgboxes to get an idea what was happened to my data.
Question is, I basically wrote a Rock Paper Scissors game in VB.NET using If statements and wondered how exactly I would try and work this into a Select Case instead.Professor was pretty awful at teaching things and didn't let us know until today that it had to be Select Case(its due tomorrow
I'm trying to use System.Diagnostics to do some very basic logging. I figure I'd use what's in the box rather than taking on an extra dependency like Log4Net or EntLib.
I'm all set up, tracing is working wonderfully. Code snippet:
That doesn't make sense to me: I just have to declare an instance of the BooleanSwicth to be able to manage (disable) tracing via the .config file? Should I like ... use ... the object somewhere?
This shows a form, header and footer are to be kept fixed. In the middle there is a Group Box that hold a question with different option. When user clicks Next button at the bottom, Group Box loads next question. I want
Im working on a program and I get this "Value of type '1-dimensional array of String' cannot be converted to 'String'." heres the code that gets this error:
I don't understand why the line final.join etc pops up with these errors!! Value of type 'String' cannot be converted to '1-dimensional array of String' And Access of shared member, constant member, enum member or nested type through an instance; qualifying expression will not be evaluated This is my code.
I want the Function to accept List(Of String), Array & String and similarly return List(Of String), Array & String respectively. The Function simply adds a string (month) to the input collection. I just want to use it for string, array and list with needing to think of conversions.
I need to do this to every line in a file and save the # five Element in an array. I keep getting (error code 1 Value of type '1-dimensional array of String' cannot be converted to 'String'.)
NOTE: if I change ( Dim Lineoftext(1) to Dim Lineoftextt works) (It does't seem to work with arrays)
Public Class Form1
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
I am trying to the copy the value from string to char array using String.CopyTo() method.
Here's my code
Dim strString As String = "Hello World!" Dim strCopy(12) As Char strString.CopyTo(0, strCopy, 0, 12)
[code]....
Edit : I get the this error at runtime.ArgumentOutOfRangeException Index and count must refer to a location within the string. Parameter name: sourceIndex
I'm making a card game and the first thing I'm doing for it is generating a random card. I used an array for the cards (can't think of a better way to assign a picturebox to a card picture other then a huge select case block). I'm trying to split the 2D array into two parts but it doesn't work.
My current
vb Public Class frmMain Private Function Flop() 'First three common cards to be displayed.

I looked around online and I don't think a list will work for my 2-dimensional array.
