View 2 RepliesI'm having problem in hiding a form. Its a login form.
1. When somebody puts a proper username and password and hits a submit button on the form the form gets hidden and a splash screen appears.
2. Username and Password gets saved in settings for the first time
3. If username and password are saved the it triggers the submit button automatically by login_btn_Click(sender, e)
4. The problem it when I'm doing by clicking on the button it is hiding but when calling login_btn_Click(sender, e), it is not hiding it.
Private Sub login_btn_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles login_btn.Click
Dim RandomClass As New Random()
Dim RandomNumber As Integer
RandomNumber = RandomClass.Next()

View 19 RepliesI have a form, with a lot of controls on it, and I make the form to be a mdi-form. When the application begins, the main form will show the mdi form, and maxmizes it.
My question is, the maxmize process of the mdi-form is showing to the user, that's very bad looking. We can see the mdi-form show itself on the screen with it's original size, and then change it's size to mazmize itself. During the process, it look like all the controls on the mdi-form are shining.
I want to hide the maxmize process to be not seen, and make the mdi-form visible AFTER it's Maxmize process. But I don't know how to do this.
I tried this:
Mdi-form.visible=0 in the form_load of the mdi-form, but I don't know where to do the Mdi-form.visible=1. I can't find the event of Maxmize process.

View 9 RepliesWhen I load my solution and compile it after first starting the IDE, everything works as expected. After changing source and recompiling, I get the following compile error:
Error 11 Unable to copy file "objDebugCAMDRS.Library.dll" to "binCAMDRS.Library.dll". The process cannot access the file 'binCAMDRS.Library.dll' because it is being used by another process. CAMDRS.Library.
After closing Visual Studio 2005 and reopening the solution I can compile again successfully. This is an old solution that has been fine for a long time. I just recently changed computers and reinstalled everything.I am running win XP Pro sp2, Visual Studio 2005 sp1.

View 2 RepliesI run a process (ffmpeg) in a backgroundworker and need it's output to calcute remaining time, estimated filesize etc. but I don't get any output from it. Here's the code used in the DoWork sub
Dim p As New Process
pback.WorkerReportsProgress = True
pback.WorkerSupportsCancellation = True
Dim tmpopts As MyOpts = DirectCast(e.Argument, MyOpts)
[code].....
The process runs and creates the file I'm expecting. I just don't get any output from it while doing it's work. The debug MsgBox shows one time and contains nothing but if I run ffmpeg without redirection in a shell it's outputting a new line every second.
I created the class below to open and gather the names of worksheets in an excel file. It does as it should in opening the file and returning the names of the each individual worksheet. Unfortunatly, I'm unable to close the file. This keeps the Excel.exe process hanging. Even after I attempt to close it at the bottom of this class the process still hangs. I have to manually goto Windows Task Manager and kill the process before I can use the file again. Even if I exit out of the application it still is out there.

I have developed a VB.Net code for retrieving data from excel file .I load this data in one form and update it back in excel after making necessary modifications in data. This complete flow works fine but most of the times I have observed that even if I close the form; the already loaded excel process does not get closed properly. I tried all possible ways to close it but could not be able to resolve the issue.
Find below code which I am using for connecting to excel and let me know if any other approach I may need to follow to resolve this issue. Note: I do not want to kill the excel process as it will kill other instances of the excel

I have a Windows Service that needs to start other processes under a user context other than that used by the service. I've seen other posts related to this but have seen no resolutionI've tried many things and have been unsuccessful in starting the process from a Windows Service when a username, password is supplied. orking as it's a requirement of our system to do this and it worked fine until recently and only fails on Vista and Windows 7 (works on XP).
The following code is used to start the process.
Dim P As New Process
P.StartInfo.Domain = Domain
[code].....
I am using Process.Start in my application, which is working great.My only problem is, the program it "starts", is an installer, which takes about 5 minutes to install. I woud really like to hide all my forms and only show one that says "please wait", but i cant seem to get it to stay there till the process has finished.
View 2 RepliesI have a simple GUI form to hide / show / minimize / terminate / force terminate Processes. i can do all well but for show and hide i need the MainWindowHandle to show or hide it
So here is hide process code:
Dim Proc As New Process = Process.GetProcessesById(List.SelectedRows(0).Cells(1))
Dim hwnd = Proc.MainWindowHandle
ShowWindow(hwnd,0)
If i try the same with show code:
Dim Proc As New Process = Process.GetProcessesById(List.SelectedRows(0).Cells(1))
Dim hwnd = Proc.MainWindowHandle
ShowWindow(hwnd,9)
The MainWindowHandle become 0 cuz its hidden is there is any other way to get the MainWindowHandle of Process ?

I've commented out various things to limit it to specifically this command (example, I can swap mklink out with notepad and it works fine). The command runs fine from a DOS window, but can't be found when I use it this way. I also tried using the SHELL command just to test and I get the same results. No idea why it can't be found, as like I said it executes from the command prompt just fine.
I have written a windows service that is meant to launch a notepad when a specific action happens. The problem i have is that even though the service launches notepad, the actual notepad it self is NOT visible. I know that it has been launced because i can see the process in the task manager. By the way the process is listed as a SYSTEM process rather than a process under my user name (i believe that is because my process is a "LocalSystem" one).
View 4 RepliesI'm curious if it is possible to hide a group of text boxes from view in a form until a particular condition is met, and to have a custom set of text boxes for that condition. To give an example; I want radio buttons offering choices for a manner of searching records, the user selects one and then a specific set of text boxes are displayed for the user to utilize, if a different option is chosen a different set of text boxes will be shown. Is this something that can be done?
