Unable To Get Anything From Process.StandardOutput?

I run a process (ffmpeg) in a backgroundworker and need it's output to calcute remaining time, estimated filesize etc. but I don't get any output from it. Here's the code used in the DoWork sub

The process runs and creates the file I'm expecting. I just don't get any output from it while doing it's work. The debug MsgBox shows one time and contains nothing but if I run ffmpeg without redirection in a shell it's outputting a new line every second.

I'm running a program and reading the command line output, and, when I compare the output I get with the actual output of the program, I'm quite shocked to see that it doesn't actually match up and, sometimes, the text won't even display at all until after the entire process is done [despite using the Asynchronous methods].I'm not sure if I'm doing anything wrong here...I can post the code [it's a rough translation from VB.net to C#, which I can easily translate back], but is there anything I can actually do to fix this issue

When I load my solution and compile it after first starting the IDE, everything works as expected. After changing source and recompiling, I get the following compile error:
Error 11 Unable to copy file "objDebugCAMDRS.Library.dll" to "binCAMDRS.Library.dll". The process cannot access the file 'binCAMDRS.Library.dll' because it is being used by another process. CAMDRS.Library.
After closing Visual Studio 2005 and reopening the solution I can compile again successfully. This is an old solution that has been fine for a long time. I just recently changed computers and reinstalled everything.I am running win XP Pro sp2, Visual Studio 2005 sp1.

I have seen countless examples of reading standard output from command line applications which print text to the screen and one can read that back into the application as a string. I want to read the binary data back that is written to standard output from something such as image magick's convert program. What is coming back is an image, not a text result or error code. Is this possible? I have been looking for ages but found nothing that makes sense.

I wrote a gui for a console app, wanted to captaure console app standarderror and standardoutput in the same time. I write a code, but it's not executed in the same time. I searched msdn and found that using DataReceivedEventHandler can be asynchronously collect the redirected StandardOutput or StandardError stream output of a proces. But I dont know how to apply it to my code. please help me. i wanted to collect standardoutput and standarderror and append it to a textbox. here is my code,As far as I understand, I have to read one stream synchronously and one asynchronously to avoid deadlock situations.But now it's not output in the same time. having delay issue for standarderror.

I created the class below to open and gather the names of worksheets in an excel file. It does as it should in opening the file and returning the names of the each individual worksheet. Unfortunatly, I'm unable to close the file. This keeps the Excel.exe process hanging. Even after I attempt to close it at the bottom of this class the process still hangs. I have to manually goto Windows Task Manager and kill the process before I can use the file again. Even if I exit out of the application it still is out there.

I have developed a VB.Net code for retrieving data from excel file .I load this data in one form and update it back in excel after making necessary modifications in data. This complete flow works fine but most of the times I have observed that even if I close the form; the already loaded excel process does not get closed properly. I tried all possible ways to close it but could not be able to resolve the issue.
Find below code which I am using for connecting to excel and let me know if any other approach I may need to follow to resolve this issue. Note: I do not want to kill the excel process as it will kill other instances of the excel

I have a Windows Service that needs to start other processes under a user context other than that used by the service. I've seen other posts related to this but have seen no resolutionI've tried many things and have been unsuccessful in starting the process from a Windows Service when a username, password is supplied. orking as it's a requirement of our system to do this and it worked fine until recently and only fails on Vista and Windows 7 (works on XP).

I am trying to completely intercept a console application, that is, grabbing it's output, and inserting the input. So far, I can pretty much grab the output, and input is completely perfect. However, it will not show the "prefix"/"question" of the console's output, until you send some input. As an example, when hooking to the CMD.exe console. I've commented out various things to limit it to specifically this command (example, I can swap mklink out with notepad and it works fine). The command runs fine from a DOS window, but can't be found when I use it this way. I also tried using the SHELL command just to test and I get the same results. No idea why it can't be found, as like I said it executes from the command prompt just fine.

I have written a windows service that is meant to launch a notepad when a specific action happens. The problem i have is that even though the service launches notepad, the actual notepad it self is NOT visible. I know that it has been launced because i can see the process in the task manager. By the way the process is listed as a SYSTEM process rather than a process under my user name (i believe that is because my process is a "LocalSystem" one).

I want my vb.net dll to get the data sent from c++ project(exe).Can any body help on in what form this void pointer can be sent via pipe. The void pointer corresponds to enums or structures. My app starts an On-Screen Keyboard process like this:

It seems to work 90% of the time. However, sometimes the PID.Kill() fails because it says the process already exited. At this point the OSK is always still there on screen. Yes, I know my code should be testing to see if the process is still running before trying to kill it, but given that the OSK is still on screen..

I have a program that starts another program after setting the regkeys basically the program continually syncs the calandar of outlook and another application.I set the regkeys than launch the c:sync.exe app. I have tried a simple process.start and launching the process as a thread and they both do the same thing: The other process starts and works as it should but my main program goes "White screen" or "not responding" until the process.start has exited.
I want the process.start to run in the background so if users click in my main app it responds and truly that they can access the context menu of my main app from the taskbar while the process.start is running.

I am working on a small VB application that listens for commands sent from an Android app.
One of the functions is to extract an archive. I am familiar with how to listen for the unrar process to finish, so I can display a progressdialog on the phone while the extraction is happening, and clear it as soon as it's done.
BUT ... if there is an error/alert from WinRAR, WaitForExit() never gets called because WinRAR is still sitting there open until I click "OK" on the MsgBox.
For Example ... if you try to extract a file that is not actually an archive... an alert will pop up saying "No Archives Found", and basically everything is halted on the VB app and the Android app, and the Android app just sits on a progressdialog saying "extracting..." until you manually hit "OK" on the computer.
As you can imagine, this is a problem if the whole point of your app is to NOT have to go over to the computer.
So... I am wondering if there is something similar to WaitForExit() that will wait for an error and allow me to close out the alert and let the process end.
Here's my Sub for the UnRar command:

I have an issue using Process.MainWindowTitle,Process.MainWindowHandle on some older VB6 applications. After Process.Start I use Process.MainWindowTitle to display in a listbox. The MainWindowTitle returned is not the Window Title but in fact the Project name of the VB6 exe.? I also store the MainWindowHandle to use the ShowWindow and SetForeGroundWindow API's. It would appear that the ShowWindow API does not work, but the SetForegroundWindow does. ie: if the VB6 app is minimized, showwindow does not restore, if it is NOT minimized setforewgroundwindow sets it to the foreground. The exact same code does work correctly for any other .net exe or notepad, only on these vb6 programs I am having a problem.

I have a procedure (parent process) that starts several processes (child processes). The child processes calculate several array variables. How can I pass those arrays to the parent process? At the moment, the child processes write the arrays to a streambuilder and the parent process reads the stream. Is there a better way to do it? Is it possible to have the child processes write to RAM memory and have the parent process read from there? It is like declaring a global variable in the parent process and give the child processes access to it.

How can i access a file through FileStream which is being used by a window service. Actually i am trying to access a file which is also being used by our window service. I need to read data from this file. I am using below code but also getting following error:

I am working with saving and deleting images.
