Sep 28, 2010I am using Visual Studio 2008 for creating a Winforms app. I have connected a database to it called XStats. There is one table in it called XGames and in that table 2 fields, XIndex (the primary key field) and GameNumber. Using the following code I can add records to the database, the data is taken from a text box, but once added I cannot view them unless I shut down the app and restart it.

But I cannot see those data in the data table using Data Source or Server Explorer in Visual Studio. Even If I check it once in Server Explorer, all data in the database will be deleted.

We do services/transportation/logistics for various companies.I am working on Scheduling a work order process for those companies who are registered with us.While during the process of registration, a company will specify the week number to execute a job during the contract period.So this will be a routine service which we need to perform for every number of weeks specified For Example: if any company specifies the week number as : 2. that means for every 2 weeks we need to do the service for that company during the contract period.
How to update the dates into the database server for each company for their jobs to be performed.So if my Admin wants to know all the jobs in this current week. I should be able to pick only those companies and their jobs in this week only.

Oct 19, 2009before re-inventing the wheel, i want to ask you how i can do this best: I have a VB.Net application that uses a database connection to MS SQL Server 2005 (express version). There are users that input data with the application into the database lets say once to 2x an hour to once a minute. I want to do backups like this: Once a day or once a week (in the evening) a full backup, and whenever the program/user is idle for lets say 10 Minutes, i want to do an incremental backup (so that it does not take so long until he can work on after the backup).
There are no big security issues, just copying the backup data files to a network share / a different computer or server would be fine. i guess the average db size may be 300MB, but the daily increments about 1MB.

The software stores client lists in a database for the user, but when the user reinstalls the program after I send them an updated publish, the client list database is replaced with a fresh empty database.
Is there a way that the user can reinstall the software without losing their current database?
I don't know if I need to somehow make separate publishes. One for an initial install to set up the database, and then one for updates that leaves the client database untouched? I don't know how to go about it.

May 17, 2011I have a validation Summary I am using for the RequiredFieldValidators to use to show the error messages while an image shows up next to the controls being validated.I have set the required field validator to Display="Dynamic". When I select something in the dropdown it removes the image next to the control right away like I want but the errormessage text stays on the ValidatorSummary.What can I do to make the ValidatorSummary to update dynamically like the RequiredFieldValidator when it removes the image next to the dropdown?
