I am reading an excel file. When everything passes the edits, it is then written to a database. However, if any cell in the row fails an edit, I would like to write a new worksheet (called Errors) containing all of the information from the row which failed.
View 2 RepliesI have a form that has three comboboxes in it, cbxStudy, cbxMethod, & cbxAnalyte. When I call the form I load a data table and use that table to fill the comboboxes. I want to assign a value to cbxStudy, then fill cbxMethod by filtering the data table using the value in cbxStudy, then fill cbxAnalyte by filtering the data table using the values in cbxStudy and cbxMethod.
This code keeps failing when the forms New constructor is called, but once the form is loaded the code works great. I indicated below where the code is failing. It's failing because Me.cbxStudy.SelectedValue is = {System.Data.DataRowView} when the constructor is called even though I set the SelectedValue myself.

I have 16 comboboxes with a naming convention of:
c1d2
c2d2
c3d2
c4d2
c16d2
These will all contain the same items and I need to add them at runtime. I know how to loop through the controls, but not sure how to make sure I'm only editing the correct comboboxes. (I will have to do this for 2 more sets of comboboxes with similar naming conventions as well)
1. A dataset contaning all the tables, views and stored procedures from a db in the Data Sources
2. A stored procedure that makes a query using a parameter
3. 2 comboboxes with their DataSources defined
The first combobox gets populated with a stored procedure (with no params, through the Combobox task). When the user selects an item from this combobox this should trigger an event that populates the second combobox with the second stored procedure that requires a parameter.
Since the Dataset is already add to the Data Sources and contains all the procedures I need, I don't wanna to create more datasets or calls to the data base, however I don't know how to set the query using the procedure I already have passing the parameter.

I'm trying to copy multiple excel source files into one excel file. My current code is working only for 3 source files..If more than 3 files are there, it doesn't copy the data but creates blank work sheet in the output excel file. Lets say I have a source folder with 5 excel files. Each workbook contains one worksheet with data. It copies upto 3 worksheets along with data into output excel file.
Lets say excel1 contains A as work sheet, excel2 contains B as work sheet ,excel3 contains C as work sheet ,excel4 contains D as work sheet ,excel5 contains E as work sheet .Now my output excel file should look like..OutputExcel with A, B, C, D, E along with respective data.But my current code is giving output as A,B,C worksheets along with respective data but its creating blank sheet1,sheet2 in place of D & E.

View 8 RepliesI would like to prompt the user, in the middle of a VB program, either with MsgBox or any other dialog, to input data in a worksheet of the Workbook that contains the code and then, on some event, read the data and continue execution. I was not successful with MsgBox (and other forms) since it is modal. The user cannot get focus on the worksheet, input data and then continue execution by clicking a command button.

I've included Microsoft.Office.Interop in my code and I am able to do Excel operations but I am not sure how you loop thru the multiple worksheets within a workbook.

When I execute the code, depending on the worksheet name, the result found in ws.name has one or more spaces in front of the text. e.g. "Bour001" used in creating the worksheet name becomes " Bour001" when returned by ws.name.
I have been asked to create import functionality in my application. I am getting an excel worksheet as input. The worksheet has column headers followed by data. The users want to simply select an xls file from their system, click upload and the tool deletes the table in the database and adds this new data.
I thought the best way would be too bring the data into a datatable object and do a foeach for every row in the datatable insert row by row into the db.
