What I've done is create a User Control Library (Project) and I've added a single User Control to that project. The control contains a single FlowLayoutPanel, and I created a Property on the control itself to pass the FlowDirection from the Control to its FlowLayoutPanel child.
Build, reference, component appears in the Toolbox and everything works fine, but the property on the control does not appear in the Properties window when I go to edit it at design time.

View 1 RepliesI am currently hosting an IE Browser control in a .NET (2.0) Form and using it to load Office files such as Excel and Word thusly:[code]The hosting and loading works well except whenever I navigate to a file I am presented with a dialog that asks whether I want to save or open the file. (This is standard IE file-download behavior.) I always want to open it of course and I do not want the dialog to show.Another issue is that when I close the window that hosts the IE control and the Office doc the document does not close and remains open on disk. This means that subsequent attempts to open the same file via my app or the native office app will fail because of the sharing violation.Is there a programmatic way of avoiding this dialog and cleaning up resources afterward? I am asking for a programmatic answer because web research has only yielded solutions that entail modifying OS-level settings.

this is the code to convert word documents to excel. but i am getting error at underlines portion..the error is name not declared what should i do..I got thios code frm net and i just pasted it in visual studio..
I'm using vb.net to check that certain Excel or Word documents exist in a folder.
EG

If the documents are created using Excel 97 or Word 97 the files are found. If the the documents are created using Excel 2007 or Word 2007 the files are not found.
I have checked the permissions between the two different versions and they appear to be the same.
why Dir dosen't work with Excel 2007 and Word 2007 files?
I do have third party application which produce it�s reports in PDF format. Those reports are having images and different kind of alignments in the pages. So I need a code or guidance to make an application to transform the exact appearance of the PDF file in to Excel. My Issue is the PDF does not have table kind of thing to identify by regular pdf to excel conversions.

View 3 RepliesI'm struggling to think of a reason why I should be getting an 'Access denied' error when trying to save an Excel document opened through a program written in VB 2010 Express. The program is essentially glorified Excel automation. It converts information from hundreds of Excel documents into a few small text files in order to improve operation speed. The software is designed for use by no more than a dozen or so people in the office who are all editing these Excel documents (through the software), and saving changes. They edit a given document by selecting it in a list in the main form, which then changes the document to writeable and opens it for them. A FileSystemWatcher detects changes in the folder containing the Excel documents so that the aforementioned text files can be updated when the user saves the Excel document.

I can't stop the image from flashing and it is very slow. Does anyone know of a way to loop through them quickly and can the page counts (one image can have many documents)?

After compiling, the properties show up correctly in the Edit Columns popup editor, but changing the values has no effectThe designer generated code shows the original values and manually changing them there has the desired effect(I know you're not supposed to, just testing). However, be fore I learned to use the ToolTips control from the Toolbox, I had filled in the ToolTipText in theProperties. Now, I cannot delete it. When I attempt to delete the property it comes right back when the mouse cursor leaves the property.. As a result, when I run the program and roll the mouse over theToolStrip Buttton I get the ToolTip I want and the ToolTip I tried to delete.

View 2 RepliesI'm moving my first steps in the VB.NET world (I come from VB6) and I'm stuck with the creation of a particular class.
Let's say we have a bus that always has 101 places. I'm trying to create a class containing the map of the bus, along with methods to graphically represent it.
My "Bus" class will have a couple of properties ("BusColor", "BusModel") related to the whole bus. Then it should have a property called "Places" whose type is a custom class thet represents every single place, along with, for example, the passenger name or the place number. This property should of course be an array.
This is my code so far (simplified):

but I wonder if there is a more standard way of doing this.
My second question is: how can I modify my class to be able to iterate its Places property with the "for each" statement? A quick search on the web showed up that I should implement the IEnumerable interface, but I'm still not enough confident with the concept of Interfaces.
Lets say i'm making a new dialog. I don't want to expose the properties of the form to code elsewhere, only specific ones I define. I tried making the form Protected (including the Designer generated code) and putting it in another class, but then I can't figure out how to access the form from my code. Am I going about this completely the wrong way, or what?

I have built a Custom Control Class that makes it much easier to build a side bar element in my html.
The problem I am running into is that when I set the "Text" property, the last time I set it gets used for every instance of the control on my page. This is my first time doing this, so I'm assuming I'm missing something basic.

I can already get the screen information by creating a new instance of screen and reading the information such as index, bounds and everything else.I'm trying to create a virtual screen object to hold the information from the screen so I can work with it, or add other properties to it.[code]This all works perfectly how I want it to. Except I would like to do one more thing. How can I make it so that instead of getting Virtual_Screen.Top, I could get Virtual_Screen.Bounds.Top? That way I could create other properties such as Virtual_Screen.Border.Top..I have no idea how to code, or what that would be called. It's hard to search for something you don't know the name of.
