Simple question I couldn't find in the book or online. I have a Button which needs to have permanent text set to 'Calculate' and 'Section' on separate lines. The 'Multiline' option I have seen mentioned does not appear in my properties. I can't 'show the code' as I think it is a properties setting.

how to count the lines in textbox1.text (with multiplelines). I don't need to count each character. I only need to count each line from top to bottom in textbox1.text (multiplelines) and I will use Label1 to display the numbers.
example:
1-pauljaones
2-tommyperrry
3-marktoms
4-Jonessmith
5-paulwhite
Obviously this is 5 lines and that's what I need to count.
I have a listview, it's view is Details and it has gridlines, in that listview, I am including addresses with multiple lines (ie.):
John Doe
123 Street Dr.
City, State, 123456
and would like for it to display that way, instead of:
John Doe123 Street Dr.City, State, 123456
I'm sure this is something simple, but I just can't figure this out.
I have 20-30 devices that I am connecting to and gathering data from. I want to display six or seven lines of data for each device on the same screen, then allow the user to click the object containing the device and show more detail on a separate form. There aren't any other programmers where I work and am looking for advice on how most efficiently to implement this. I have tried TableLayoutPanels, Datagrids, Textboxes, ListBoxes and I am probably not implementing them right, but they don't seem to be getting me where I want to go. I am also trying to stay away from hardcoding objects onto the screen.

The aim of the application is to change sln. files from VS2005/2008 versions into VS2010.I am using a Form with 2 text boxes and 2 buttons. When I click the 1st button it reveals the sln file in the text box. Then i have a 'convert' button that I want to use to 'convert' the file that appears in the first text box. I have come quite far with the source code but am just a bit puzzled as to how i can retrieve the VS2005 sln files and to get the 'convert' button to display the text in the 2nd text box.[code]

The only thing I can do for now is either use the substring function to remove the first character from all array values after 0 but I don't like that because it's messy and what if the split "works" as I want it to one one of the lines and knocks of the first character when I don't want it to.

Now. We've tried very numerous things. We've discovered that Disposing does nothing, and, indeed, the IDisposable interface doesn't actually touch memory. If we don't create a new CJ5Form_PTOperatorAcknowledgement form each time, the process size does NOT grow. But loading a new image into that form still causes the process size to continually grow.

I followed a few YouTube tutorials and managed to create something where you can press a button and have a window open where you search for a text file and have it's file path appear in a text box. My problem now is that I want certain lines of this text file to change the text of certain Labels on a different form. I don't know how to do this though?

It puts the file in the listbox with no errors. However, when I include the If statement that checks for the line being blank, I get an ArgumentNullException in the Items.Add line when It gets to the end of the file.

I am in the process (slow process) if learning vb.net by trying to create a simple application that will read and write (save) chosen information to a text file. The application has text boxes (name, email address, etc) and I want to read information from certain lines in the text and place in the given text box.[code]When I start debugging mode it does not display the text until I click onto the text box and it's displaying the first line of text in the file. I am trying to read from a file that was created with a stream writer the names line from the text file that contains data for name, phone number, pager number, cell number, voice mail, and email.What I need to do is read and load the names from the file into a list box, and then from the list box be able to choose each name and have the information (phone, pager, cell, etc.) show up in text boxes that goes with the specific name.

User creates a single worksheet template...the user clicks the "Save Template" button on the Ribbon AddIn...Form1 pops up asking the user for the file name they want to apply to this worksheet template...after the user enters the file name and clicks the "Save" button on this form, the file is saved in the default location then a new button should be placed in Menu1 of the Ribbon AddIn...the label for this new button should be the same as the file name.Here is the code for the Form1 "Save" button click event: [code]

I have a text file containing lines of data (File 1). I need to delete all the lines in another text file (File 2), which are found in file 1.So I could read file 2 line by line. And then once the line has been read, read file 1 line by line to search for a match. But that's going to be painfully slow.Or I could read file 2 into memory. And then read file 1 line by line and REPLACE the lines in file 2 with nothing, therefore deleting them. File 2 could be 100 mb, so I'm not sure about reading it all into memory.
