Display An Image (from MemoryStream) And Some Text And A Button?
May 21, 2009
This is interesting. We've spent the last day attempting to patch a problem with the following (legacy) code that continues to grow its process size. This is done in Visual Studio 2003.We have a form on which we display an image (from MemoryStream) and some text and a button. Nothing fancy. Looks something like this: Protected Overrides Sub OnLoad(ByVal e As System.EventArgs)
[Code]...
Now. We've tried very numerous things. We've discovered that Disposing does nothing, and, indeed, the IDisposable interface doesn't actually touch memory. If we don't create a new CJ5Form_PTOperatorAcknowledgement form each time, the process size does NOT grow. But loading a new image into that form still causes the process size to continually grow.
The Clipboard class has very handy methods to check contents, like 'ContainsImage' and 'ContainsText'.How do I check if a MemoryStream contains an image or a text?
Ive a picture box on a webform. I want to load a picture into from a memorystream. The code im using :
If Me.ComboBox1.SelectedValue.ToString.Trim <> "System.Data.DataRowView" Then Dim bmpTmp As Drawing.Bitmap = Drawing.Bitmap.FromFile(Me.ComboBox1.SelectedValue.ToString.Trim)
[Code]....
What I'm trying to do is convert a tiff image to a gif and display it in a picturebox on a webform. The source file is deffinatly be found as the commented out line which saves the file to the c: drive works perfectly. However I cant seem to get the picturebox to load with the memory stream.
I wrote a piece of code that grabs a fileupload, puts it into a memory stream, converts the main pic, and thumbnail pic, then saves them as jpegs, then updates the database.
Everything works fine, except one little glitch. If the DPI is above 300 then the image doesn't save right. It get's pixelated and blury.
here is the code.
Dim fileLen As Integer # Dim myStream As System.IO.Stream # Dim ImgContentType As String
I use WPF and my program has images in a DLL resource file. I have this well working way to read in images from disk:
Private Function GetImageFromFile(ByVal fileName As String) As BitmapImage Dim buffer As Byte() = IO.File.ReadAllBytes(fileName) Dim memoryStream As New IO.MemoryStream(buffer)
[Code]....
Now, how can I get images in this MemoryStream-way from a DLL resource?
The basic problem: If I use simply the "bitmap.UriSource = whatever uri" way and load many images in sequence like an animation it builds up the memory. I tried with the above memorystream way and it worked perfectly fine, but then I store my images in a dll and I don't know how to do this trick. If anybody knows how to read many images from a managed dll without building up the memory
I dynamically create buttons on a form and use the button text as ids so that I can pass that to an SQL query to pull saved data about that button when necessary, but I also use an image over buttons that have information saved about them. What I need to know is how do I keep the text on the button from appearing when there is an image assigned to that button? By default vb.net shows both the text and the image and no TextImageRelation values allow for the image to take precedence. I tried changing the text color to transparent, but the outline of the text is still visible through the image. Is there anyway to keep the text value as it is but just show the image on the button?
I'm getting GDI+ error when saving picturebox image to the database. My database is sql server with image datatype. Ideally when I browse image file to the picturebox then save using following code
I need to display two images when the button is clicked. First the user will browse for the two images and after clicking the third button it should display the two images. I have this code so far. I'm a complete newbie in vb

I'm new to VB.NET BTW. I designed a form and radio buttons and a submit button with a picture box ! Every radio button selected will display the image related to it in the picture box !
So, we have O smile O sad O mad O happy O ...etc When pressing the submit, the selected radio button will display a face of the mood !
Here is my code. If RadBtnSmile.Checked Then PicBxMood.load("smile.gif") End If If RadBtnSad.Checked Then PicBxMood.load("sad.gif") [Code] .....
I am building a vb.net application with VS2010. The aim of the application is to change sln. files from VS2005/2008 versions into VS2010.I am using a Form with 2 text boxes and 2 buttons. When I click the 1st button it reveals the sln file in the text box. Then i have a 'convert' button that I want to use to 'convert' the file that appears in the first text box. I have come quite far with the source code but am just a bit puzzled as to how i can retrieve the VS2005 sln files and to get the 'convert' button to display the text in the 2nd text box.[code]

I want to display image next to the text in each row in a datagridview. I have searched the net in the past 1 hour, but no big success. I know, that I must override the cellpaint event, but how?
i have an image in an bytearray. I convert thiy bytearray to an image an do a resize on it which works fine. But after that i want to convert it back to a bytearray and then i get a "Value Cannot be null Parameter name: encoder" Exception when trying to do a IMG.SAVE(MEMORYSTREAM, IMAGE.RAWFORMAT)
My program parses chat room text. In the room there are smileys that get displayed. What I'm trying to do is parse out the image URL, download the image and put the smiley in the correct spot between the text of the message.I can do the parsing and downloading of the image into the datagridview but this only works of the column is set as an image column. Obviously due to the nature of the program I need to be able to put both text and images into the same cell. How can I do this?

I have a DataGridView in a Winforms application containing a collection of items. Each item has an image and various other details. I know it is possible in WPF, but can you get a tooltip to display an image and a more structured set of details then just plain text?
Simple question I couldn't find in the book or online. I have a Button which needs to have permanent text set to 'Calculate' and 'Section' on separate lines. The 'Multiline' option I have seen mentioned does not appear in my properties. I can't 'show the code' as I think it is a properties setting.
Using XP and VB 2008 Express for development of Widows Forms App.I am setting a button's .text to "" and then assigning a bitmap with some text written on it to the button's .image. Everything looks great on the development compter, but is almost unreadable on test computers using Vista and Windows 7. This despite trying a number of different combinations of (standard?) font family and size (including Arial, Verdana, Microsoft Sans Serif). Why?
Details....I have a button on a form (32 pixels x 32 pixels).I set the button.text field to "". I create a bitmap a little smaller than the button, and DrawText on it (I can't simply use the button.text field because I want to place text in different areas of the button and draw special characters.I use the following code to create the bitmap:
m_bmpDrawingSurface = New Bitmap(30, 30, Drawing.Imaging.PixelFormat.Format32bppArgb) Dim objGraphics As Graphics objGraphics = Graphics.FromImage(m_bmpDrawingSurface)[code]...
I wonder if somehow fonts are being anti-aliased or otherwise cleaned up by the system on the development computer, but not on the other computers. I also wonder if I should be creating just a simple 30 pixel x 30 pixel bitmaps, or perhaps should be trying somehow to get the buttons 'device context' or something. Or, is there an alternative to DrawString that draws text more intelligently than just setting the nearest pixel either black or transparent, which is what seems to be happening (ie, no anti-aliasing or creation of shades of gray). Maybe another pen? Is there an "anti-aliasing" pen?
i have a class where are code the methode that i have to use in my form. i want to display on a button with a if statement a text value depending of the requirement are met. i put the code of the class here:

I'm looking to create a simple program with 1 text field, 1 button, and an area to display what is happening and if there were any errors. My goal is to be able to delete user profiles stored on a network drive by simply putting in the users ID and hitting the button.I'll use my own id as an example:If I put mdesieno in the txt box and hit the button, I'll need the button to map to the network drive and delete mdesieno.corp and mdesieno.v2 I would like the bottom half of the window to display text like:
"Deleting User Profile mdesieno.corp" SUCCESSFUL "Deleting User profile mdesieno.V2" SUCCESSFUL
To me this seems pretty simple, but as I said, I do not know VB yet. Is there code out there that is already written to do something like this?
