VB 2008 - Dynamically Filling The Listview With Groups And Items

I am currently using VB 2008 and there is a form I'm using which contains a listview control. I am dynamically filling the listview with groups and items. After I fill it up, it is supposed to look like this:

Each item is specific for each group. The problem I have is that when I maximize the form to full size, and everything expands, the items change positions into something like this:

How can I make the listview keep the items in the "row" view always, instead of the "column" view whether I maximize or not?

I want to know if it is possible to nest groups within a listview. I started with a listview in my application that contains list types and this worked fine. I have now been asked to group by Product, then Week Commencing and finally by List Type; This would envolve a 3 group nest and i just cant figure out how to do it (if at all possible).

I have a listview control. it has an imagelist attached to it with two images in it. I have entered items into my listview, and they are using the first image in my imagelist.... GREAT! Now, there is a variable I have that will tell me which index in the listview is currently active, noting to do with what I select that could be at another index it's just what's being processed by the program at the time in some task.
Create a function that will change the images of all my listview items by looping through them. If the index variable is set to 2, I want the 3rd item in my list view set to use the 2nd image in my imagelist. The rest of the items in my listview need to be set to the first image in the imagelist.

Any snippet of code for adding groups at run-time to a listview. I am currently listing books (and stats) without groups via the following code which is executed in a loop (one pass per book title).

The listview is set to details view. What I want to do is group the book titles by series. For example, books by Michael Connelly may be grouped by "Harry Bosch", "Jack McEvoy", "Mickey Haller", etc. I can create a new group for each new series by

If cbType.Text was "Dog", it will add another "dog" group header every time I add an item having selected dog, when I want to add the item to the existing dog group.

I constructed a form with a listview and programatically added items and groups to it. It worked perfectly. I have now made it an MDI child form and the grouping disappears. I even removed my code and simply added groups and items through the form designer. The items display fine but not the groups.

I got the textbox and a listbox and a button, I can add names threw the textbox hit the button to add and it adds to the listbox, now I need to take the names from there and randomize them into 4 groups and make it into an array also, I just dont know how to take the names I entered and randomize them and put them into 4 different groups without repeating themselves, it is ok if three groups that have 5 and the fourth has 6. They just need to be randomized and put into 4 different groups,This is what I have, but I think its the wrong way to do this, to make the code work right atleast.[code]

I'm trying to develop quite a complicated project. The task is managing an eBook / audioBook frontend checkout system. The idea is that the database is parsed into a listview and the user can then download the desired files.
I've got a webpage on my server. Here is some sample data. I cannot change the delimiter - because it is automatically generated by a software application existing on the server.

I have a listvew that is setup like:

What i was trying to do is put text in [COLUMNHEADER3] besides each of the names, so if "Graham's" details exist then put "PASSED" beside the name "Graham" and "FAILED" if it's failed, i'm not sure how to access the 3rd columns details to put that in is it:

ok in vb6 i would use this to check all items in a listview.

Now Here's my confusion. And i spotted at least one other person on here who was asking the same thing about this.But got no real clear answer that i could see. as a test to compare i tried his suggestion and loaded the same listview up in both a vb6 app and a vb.net app..The list i used was quit large so the comparison would be very through..my list was in the 80,000 lines range tho..yeah talk about overkill The vb6 app checked/unchecked the items within a matter of milliseconds..the vb.net took an extremely long time tho..well not extreme but was very noticeably slower about doing the loops.

I have a listview with 5 columns want when i click a button to merge some items into each other, like this:
I have 20 items in it. When i click the button it should look after items with the same text in the 2 column.Say it found 3 items that has the same text in the 2 column. Then it should the integers from the 3 column and add to each other.

However, no errors are shown, the items are not added to the ListView. Also, if i check the values of "artist", it is populated, as are the rest. It just, for some reason, does not add to a listview on another form.

For the personal touch, I tried using a ListView to manage a SQL database (on a remote web server).What I need to do right now is determine how many items are selected (if more than one, enable delete and edit buttons, if more than one, disable edit button). I have a listview that I add items to by loading from a file, and that works fine. I then edit the items or add new ones, and on form dispose, the file is supposed to be saved containing the listview items, but when I step through this process, mylistview.items.count is said to be zero, which I know is not true because I can see the items right on my screen, I added them myself.[code]I use this same method for saving and loading to and from listboxes, and it works fine.
