I have a small requirement in VB.NET and that is to fill an array with values retrieved from a table. That is I have a table called "user_roles" and that is having columns called "role_id" and "role_name". In the load event of the form, i want to execute a procedure and populate all the items (role_id) from the table "user_roles" into an array.

I am currently using VB 2008 and there is a form I'm using which contains a listview control. I am dynamically filling the listview with groups and items. After I fill it up, it is supposed to look like this:

Each item is specific for each group. The problem I have is that when I maximize the form to full size, and everything expands, the items change positions into something like this:

How can I make the listview keep the items in the "row" view always, instead of the "column" view whether I maximize or not?

I am going out to the database, gathering the requested information and filling the dataset. Therefore, everytime I add a query to a table adapter, it is also going to the database to get the information. So, my question is, how do I fill a table in a data set with all the records in the database table and then, filter the information I've already collected in the dataset without going back out to the database again?

I got a problem I need to search by First Name OR Surname. So the user can enter one or the other or BOTH.
So here's what I got I set two primary keys to try and find the row but I'm gettin all sorts of problems, for example when I set FirstName & Surname as primary key which you need to do to use the find method i get an error as it expects two values..

I am designing a form to Enter new City Name list where i accept following fields
CityName, District, State, Country, Pin.
because a State names and Country names can be retrived from earlier entries, i want to allow user to select desired name from a list in combo box or a list in Auto Complete Custom Source for text box, to do this i have added a Table Adapter to underlying DataSet having Query "SELECT DISTICT STATE FROM CITY ORDER BY STATE".
Now, how do i use this Table Adapter to fill the ComboBox List without binding
And also Custom Source List for TextBox.

What I am trying to do is fill an array from the largest index to the smallest index -- with the desired effect of reversing the values in the array. I have been looking at doing it with 2 for...next loops and I thought I had it, but I don't. As the reversed array is empty at the end of the 2 for...next loops here is code that I have been playing around with.

I want to set an array upperbound limit to 50. I need a loop to create a random number and place it in the array until it reaches 50( I've set up the random generation part). My question is do I set the upperbound limit when I create the array and redim for each sample being added or set the limit somewhere else? I am making my first windows forms application in VS2010 and I am having trouble with arrays. I have code that dim's an array 'TabSiteInfo(2,20)' as a string. Then, I have a Loop that adds records to the array. The problem is that my array is not filling values from the loop. I know VS2010 handles arrays differently, but I have this same code working fine for me in VS2008 ASP.NET application. Below is a sample of the code.

I have a small 10px by 10px image, and I want to use VB.NET to find out if that image is (an exact) part of a larger image.I thought a method of doing this would be to lock the bits of the larger image into memory and then loop through each pixel in the image and for each pixel, I could take the 10px by 10px section which is down and to the right of that pixel.. and then compare it to my smaller image.

I have a combobox that retrieves data from a database. Occassionally i have to disable some items from the table by setting a value in the table so that item is not available in the dropdown for users. I do this through my SQL query i.e.SELECT * FROM TABLE WHERE ADDITEMTODROPDOWN=1
When i have the DropDownStyle set to normal (dropdown) and the application loads the dropdown shows the item from the database which is no longer available for users to select (the item is set to disabled or this is fine and is what im after. I then change the DropDownStyle to DropDownList to make it look like a button so users cannot enter their own items. As soon as i load the form with the combobox the item that i disabled no longer appears as the original text.

[code] The code seems to work great until I come to the else statement.When the code finds a match it displays the picture box and the msgbox without error, but as soon as the message box is cleared, even though i've input it as an ELSE statement, the picturebox goes false again.Does anyone have any idea of how I can "hold" the picturebox to stay visible while the match between the arrays exists?

Every line in the table contains unique information that is specific to that particular date/time information, 1800 lines of data (the reason that I dont want to hand sort this table). How can I identify the items in the table that fall after a particular time of day? More specifically, I need to identify which of the data fields have a time after 14:00 on that particular day.
