VB 2010 - Express Webbrowser.Dispose Does Not Release Application Memory
Apr 13, 2010
An application that has 3 Webbrowsers instantiated at design time navigates to webbrowser2 15 times every minute with a different webpage. Webbrowser2 is disposed of after each web page is received and processed. The size of the private application memory continues to grow as when the disposal was not instigated. The application memory grows to 1GB and then the program stops responding. Any suggestions? [Code]
I have a function which return the Dataset and my question is that, is dataset memory release automatic when function work finished if not please suggest me how i release memory in below sample question?

Private Sub forumbrowsebtn_Click dim getme as dataset=givemedataset end sub
On the back of a Windows Form, I get a window DC, create a Graphics object with Graphics.FromHdc, and then dispose the Graphics object before releasing the DC.
Private Declare Function GetWindowDC Lib "user32.dll" (ByVal hwnd As IntPtr) As IntPtr Private Declare Function ReleaseDC Lib "user32.dll" (ByVal hwnd As IntPtr, ByVal hdc As IntPtr) As Integer Dim hdc As IntPtr = GetWindowDC(Me.Handle)
[code]....
Why did they do it this way?Should the DC be released before or after Graphics.Dispose? It is possible that the wrong order can cause resource leaks or memory corruption?
in main form, when a button is clicked, it opens a new form which has a webbrowser. users can use it to browser some sites. if the user closed this form, it goes back to the main form. and they can click button to open the browser form again.
I noticed that one thing. if the browser form is opened, it uses much memory (which is normal because of the site it browses). however, after the browser form is closed, the memory is not released.
In the browser form, when it is closing, the webbrowser is disposed and dereferenced. and no other part uses much memory in the form. GC is called too. what else should I do to release all memory the browser form uses?
now, it is like once the browser form is opened once, the memory usage never goes down even the form is closed.
I have a simple app that has a listbox of URL's.I loop through these url's and display them in a webbrowser control.Ive noticed that on each page load the memory usage goes up from 5-10 megs, and will no go down. Ive researched a TON of solutions online and none seem to help at all.Do any of the pro's here know how to fix this memory issue in a webbrowser control?
I have a main window in my project, and numerous other child widows inside the main.I have noticed that. When I open the main window occupies 1500K of memory, when open one child window then adds in occupied memory 6000K.When I open the second window doing the same. When I close the two child windows the occupied memory is not released. So What I want is to release the occupied memory when ever I close child windows. How I can do that? with some code example in vb.net if it is possible. This problem often sawing in the computers on the Local NET not in my computer (developer computer which has the SQL server on it).
I cannot use Visual Basic 2008 at all. When I go to "new project" and choose "Windows Form Application" I get this error.I have tried multiple uninstall/reinstall with no result.A microsoft reply to this suggested that I needed: " .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 1 " I checked, and I did not have the .netframework 2.0 service Pack 1. When I tried to download and install the above from Microsoft.com, the istaller said that "it was not allowsed" and I was not able to install the service pack 1.
I tried Uninstalling net framework 3.5, 3.0, 2.0 and then reinstalling .netframework 2.0 sevice pack 1; then reinstalling Visual basic 2008 express edition. At the reinstall of Visual basic 2008, .netframework 2.0 sevice pack 1 is unistalled by .net framework service pack 2.When I check the foruims for simiar problems, the formus are mostly for Visual basic 5.0, or other programs that I do not have.
Here is the programs I have installed:
Operating system: Windows XP Microsoft .net framework 1.1 Microsoft .NET framwork 1.1 Hotfix(KB928366) Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2
[code]....
All the security updates and hotfixes for Widows XP.
When a sub runs, it is using up large chunks of memory on every pass. It is loading pics into a listview. The pics are 1 to 2mb each and it is consuming 30-60mb for each one. How to release the memory once I close the form. Is there anything I can do to reduce it?
Private Sub PhotoFrm_Load(sender As System.Object, e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load For Each ImageStr As String In Images Dim Extension As String = IO.Path.GetExtension(ImageStr) Dim fs As New IO.FileStream(ImageStr, IO.FileMode.Open) Dim br As New IO.BinaryReader(fs) [Code] .....
how can i release a form from memory i am using public variables in my form , & the same variables are appearing on the form controls , like text box and datagridview values
I have an app that loads a jpg into a picyure box, then updates exif data in exifworks classThe problem is that when I save the image(from image used for picture box) or class (to save exif data) then try to delete, sometimes I get success, others it won't allow delet I have gone to the trouble of using gc.collect, do events, put the delete in a timer & wait for the delete before continuing & still get the problem
My question: When the sub ends the reference to the newReadWorker goes away since it is local to the routine but the worker still runs until it is done. Is the worker disposed of properly when it is done or should I handle the worker better. I am not getting any errors from this design. I just don't want to waste memory.
I am using Rational Functional Tester(RFT) tool with Visual Studio 2010. The scripts are written in Vb.net. The application gets slower frequently and sometimes the browser gets hang..I assume the problem is in memory leakage. We are cleaning the memory of objects by calling dispose in finally but still there is no improvement. How can we increase the performance at the best in terms of memory.
I have some questions about the Windows.Forms.WebBrowser control.I have added this control to my project to be able to browse websites internally.First problem is that when I come into a webpage that contains JavaScript to open a new window, the control opens a new instance of iexplore.exe, tries to load the page in which the java script popup code initiated, but then prompts for authentication for a second time.Basically, I have to sign into one page to get to a listing of applications.I click on the application which in turn is just a URL to another page. The URL to the other page contains java script to open a new window. The new window opens in an iexplore.exe process, but re-directs me to the original sign in window instead of taking me to the correct site.If I do a msgbox on the cookie that is currently loaded, it displays my authentication information. How do I tell the new iexplore.exe processes to use the cookie that was stored in the webbrowser control?
im using a WebBrowser control to auto fill a form in a page... i can access some properties of the <INPUT> html object, but when i try to set the Value property of this object VB fails and send me an error... i tried the SAME CODE in VB 6 and functions perfectly..Im using VB NET EXPRESS 2010
Private Sub Form1_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Click Dim Obj As Object For Each Obj In Web.Document.All
I have prided myself in having a pretty clean code however in the game I am making I have a player view (showscreen) and a host view, which is a copy of the player view (on a smaller screen). This way the host can see what's going on.The problem is that the graphic doesn't dispose properly and Garbage Collector gets it, though I have noticed it will crash if GC doesn't get it in time. The larger the showscreen window the more junk gets put into memory, which sucks.I thought I had everything correctly disposed below but still doesn't get the job done.
Im new to visual basic but i have some experiance in other languages.I been trying to build an application that uses the webbrowser module. There is only 1 thing i cant find anywhere.in my app i use my browser to signup at a sertain webpage. This page remembers my login info. When i close my application and open it again and go to the same page i can login again. But when i switch forms and go back to the browser form it will automatical login for me.
I am writing my first vb.net program that displays a .pdf file in a webbrowser control. I have setup a routine that moves the file to a different folder. The problem is I get the following error: "The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process." Is there a way to release the file from the webbrowser so that I can move the file.
i have created an app to load an access database into a datagridview, which contains web urls. When button is clicked it webbrowser1 navigates to each url and each webpages document.inertext is put into textbox. This all work fine but after a while the webbrowser navigation becomes increasingly slower.
For Each RW As DataGridViewRow In Me.DataGridView1.SelectedRows '''''''''''#######cell values into strings ########'''''''''''''' If RW.Selected = True Then Dim domain As String
I ran my console app succesfully 30 minutes ago. Added a single line to write a message out to the console, recompiled and now, when it runs, it eats up all the available memory before bombing out with an OutOfMemory exception! I can see the Memory Usage in Task Manager just rocketing up!
What on earth could be wrong? I can reboot the machines I am running this on as they are live servers.
I was running VS2008 express and WinXP and everything was working great. I'm now running VS2010 Express and Win7 x64
My issue is that I am running a webbrowser control that is loading a page with scripts and I get a "Out of memory at line xxxx" and the page wont finish. I've tried it on XP and it works fine so it is a Win7 issue. I call it by the standard, wb.navigate("link.com") and it errors out. If I do a "process.start("link.com") it opens a new window and works great. If I open IE or firefox standalone, everything works great. It has something to do with my webbrowser so my question is how/why is the webbrowser different than the standard IE webbrowser?
I would try to load a new IE window, but I don't know how to pull and push data to a webbrowser outside of my app. My app does form manipulation in website to streamline manual processes for filling forms out.
But after I start again navigate username still is there (website is keeping login for 15 minutes), I tried to dispose webbrowser but I can't find control to start it up.Webbrowser is invisible... how I can restart/reboot/clear cache on webbrowser ?
I am getting a System.OutOfMemoryException from my vb.net application, it happened from one certain user. I am trying to figure out whether my application takes too much memory space or the PC has low memory. But she just upgraded her desktop as i3 Intel CPU and higher memory.
I created .ico file for my application and indicated it in Icon property of the main form in VB 2010 Express. However when I build my application the .exe file has standard form icon, although when I run .exe I see created icon in form caption area. I even created 2 versions of the icon (32x32 and 16x16) in order to see if this is related to size.Is this something related to VB Express or I am missing something? Do I need to do something additionally to assign icon to .exe file when viewed in explorer window?
I'm having some trouble sharing my application to other PC users. I have tried to Build my application and Publish my application into a folder, zip it, and put it on my website for people to download, but when they try to run the setup file it gives an error message saying they need to download "Mysql.Data V 6.4.4.0", which makes sense seeing how I have a resource that uses this. Do I need to use a different method to pack my application or what? I don't quite understand how I can incorporate this into the files so the end-user doesn't need to do any other downloading than my file.
I have a VB 2010 Express application that uses a .mdb and a .xml file. Both files are part of the project. I am pulling my hair out to try to figure out how to make sure that these two files are deployed with the application. So far, I have only been running in Debug mode, so I'm focused on making that work.
When I click on the Application Files button on the Publish Tab of My Project, both the mdb and xml files are visible. I have tried setting both files to Data and Include. In either case, the mdb file is copied to the bin directory when I try debugging my application. However, the xml file is not copied no matter which option I select.
How can I get the xml file to be copied into the bin directory like the mdb file?
