VB VS 2010 - Machine Hangs When Run In The Debugger Or The Debug Exe

I have an app I'm developing using vb/vs2010. It's an x86 app running on a 64 bit machine. It hangs when I run it in the debugger or the debug exe. When I run the Release exe, it runs fine. System memory doesn't seem to be a problem. I show 1.8 gig free after I load the Release version. I show a similar number when the debug is hanging. Just to make it all really mystifying, the debug version works if I step through it a line at a time.

Im developing several applications under Visual Studio, and now have a real nightmare in hands. When i start to debug, VS hangs completely. Windows allows me to start task admin, and close the "devenv" process.I have serious problems here. I need to deliver my projects before the deadline!
Win 7 Pro 32 bits, VS 2010 SP1, running on HP computer based on Intel i5, 4gb ram. everything works as intended, except VS. When debug crashes, the devenv process uses about 25% of CPU and 250~400Mb of ram.

Attempting to debug a VB.NET Visual Web Part I am receiving the following error message.This error happens straight after I press play and and prior to any of the code in my webpart actually executing. I have an x86 VS2010 app running on a 64 bit machine that hangs in debug mode. Both the interpretive version and the compiled debug .exe hang. If I step through the interpretive version it runs. The release mode works fine. Doesn't seem like system memory is a problem as I'm reporting 1.8 gig free after I load the app. I've googled this and don't see anything pertaining to debug environment specific behavior. Is there a limit to what the debug .exe supports?

For my VB.NET application, I'm using the windows installer that came with Visual Studio. I can successfully install and run my program on any computer in our office except for one. On this particular machine, my program will stall for about 30 seconds before being able to load the main form. When I start up the task manager, the CPU is hovering at about 0 to 1%, so its not really doing anything but freezing up. It will eventually load, but it really shouldnt take this long, especially when it loads instantly on other computers. Now this machine is windows xp with serverice pack 3 and .net 3.5 sp1.

I cant figure why the VB JIT Debugger control transfers the error to the program when I run in Debug mode and goes on in an infinited loop... I am using VB.NET 2008 and MS Access as the database backend.What I am trying to do here is that whenever I catch an exception (I have some C# code dll added to this main program and it should catch the unhandled exception and the addhandler routine will follow suit. So the moment any unhandled exception is caught MyHandler method is invoked and I need to take the backup of the database (Delete if the original file exists, copy the *.bak file as the original file name(was created during new file development) ,name it as *.mdb ) show a customized messagebox warning the user to abort (custom crash dialog instead of the standard default one)Somehow Myhandler goes in an infinite loop stop at line Globals.startBackup inside Private Sub MyHandler..Any idea on this weird AppDomain.Unhandled exception and how to prevent this from happening? I am using Visual Studio 2008, .NET Framework 3.5.

Simple question that does not seem to be covered: If I use a lot of Debug.WriteLine statements in my code, will they be completely absent in my production version?
I mean: Is the compiler smart enough to not emit any code for those calls? Or would I have to surround them by #if DEBUG..#end if directives?

So when I make changes to my form in VS2010 professional (writing in VB.net) and hit debug, the instance of my form that pops up doesn't include the changes i make. I have to hit Rebuild Application everytime before I run the debugger and its extremely frustrating. I reset all settings and nothing seems to work.

I was woking on a windows app today when my errors were no longer being displayed as they usually would, instead the debugger just jumps out of the method. It works in other projects, I have put this: 'Dim i as Integer = "A"' in as my first line to try and raise an error but it just exits the sub on that line.
The output window makes a note of the exception but the usual popup trace does not appear, any ideas how I get it back??

I'm running VS2010 4.0.30319 SP1. My WPF project runs once in the debugger, then won't run again unless I wait 30-60 seconds. I've found that in Task Manager, there is an associated vshost32.exe process that starts when I first load the project. It remainswhile the project is running, but exits when I close my app. After 30-60 seconds, the vshost32.exe reappears and I'm able to restart my app. But until vshost32.exe reappears, my app will not run.

I have a heavily timer tick driven application that seems to randomly just stop on vista/w7 while minimized, sometimes it goes on for hours sometimes just minutes but the end result is same just stops for no apparent reason, the moment i unminimize it it keeps going. This never happens on xp tho where it works perfectly so what might be the problem?

I've created a multithreaded application that copies data from one directory to another, and I'm having trouble getting it to work properly on clients' computers. All computers running the software have Windows 7 and the .NET Framework 4.0 Client Profile installed, which is what I've compiled the program for. I have two threads: one does the actual copying, and the other updates the UI on the program. Whenever I run the program on my computer, even if I'm copying 45 GB, for example, it runs fine. However, if I run it on another computer, it will sometimes freeze the entire computer, so then I have to manually shut the computer down in order to use it again. I have been trying to find out why this occurs, but I cannot. Does anyone think he/she can provide me with some ideas as to why this happens and how I can prevent it from occurring?

Microsoft Visual Basic Express 2010 is Busy. I have to end up using Task Manager to end the process. I have been using VB Express for about a year and have never had this problem. i have tried to re-install VB 2010 express, no joy. I even built a Hello World app, still no joy. This is really stopping all my VB work.

If I develop a VB2010 Windows Forms application on a 64 bit machine, can I deploy it to a 32 bit machine?The 32 bit machine has .NET Framework 4 Extended on it.Or can I tell the 64 bit compiler to go 32 bit? I upgraded to VB2010 from VB2008 early this year and have been working on a Windows Service which I am now debugging. When I was using VB2008 in Windows XP SP3 I would put a Stop statement in the code and when execution got to it a dialog would open asking if I wanted to debug it using a development environment listed in a provided list. The list contained the VB2008 VS IDE which I selected which would in turn transfer me to the IDE in debug mode. I was very happy with this setup.
Now I am using VB2010 with Windows 7 and when the execution reaches the Stop statement the service just stops. It no longer offers the choice and ability to "jump" into the development environment via the dialog that I mentioned.[code]...

I have a VERY perplexing problem in both Visual Basic 2008 & 2010 Express. When I try to debug my project, the program runs without stopping at any breakpoints. I've received a project from a friend and the Debug platform is set to "Active (Itanium)",so I changed it to x86, saved, closed the "My Project" window, and debugged. Same message:Error while trying to run project. Cannot start debugging. The assembly to be debugged was built with a platform incompatible with the current system." I went back into My Project > Debug and it's been set back to Active (Itanium). I tried everything and looked around Google, has no-one else had the same problem? How do I fix it?

When i try to save my program an error pops up telling me that it cannot debug because some sort of file is missing... While my other projects just work, and while i repeat the same steps (placing an entity like a button, coding it), it just shows that error. Its really strange!

When I add a debug.print line to my code, it doesn't send the output to the immediate window. I did a search of the forum for debug.print, and found the identical problem, but, the solution listed did not work for me. Basically it said to set the solution configuration to "Debug" as opposed to "Release".

I cannot find the pause command in VB 2010 Express, even if I pressed Ctrl+Pause, VB opens new tab titled "No source available" In previous VB express 2005 and 2008 it was simple to edit the code while running but in VB 2010 I have to stop the code or put a break point inside the procedure which I want to edit.
