I have a perhaps simple problem but cannot deal with it.What would be the code for loading another form.let me explain in more details.im writing a very simple game for my project and want to load another form when "level" on my first form finishes
I want to save a VB2008 Express form as "JPG" so that I can view the form in Windows Picture And Fax Viewer., the form contains other PictureBoxes which contains pictures from Database.ViditKothari
im having a problem i have a startup form now when it load its check the date and check the date that comes from the database now i got i want after the first try now when i try to log out (after log out click the startup form show) and the code does not execute in the startup_load event i use me.hide to close my startup form after login.. is this the problem thats why after 2nd try it does not execute my startup_load event how can i resolve that i use me.dispose but it close all my program..
I am using VB.NET for Windows applications. What is the difference between Load event,Activate event and Enter event in the Form and in which order the above event is executed.
I'm trying to execute different code depending on the button clicked (button 4 or 5) on Form1, but when I click on button5 to activitae the code on the Form2's Load event everything is Ok, but when I click the back button to return to Form 1 and click on the Button4 to activate the code on the Form2's Load event again, it doesn't active the Form's Load event, is there a way to form the form load event every time I access it from Form1? [code]
Is there any advantage to using the VB2010 express version versus the VB2008 express version? Can they be installed side by side or will VB2010 express replace VB2008? I have no issues with the 2008 version, so I don't know if installing the 2010 version would be of any advantage.
I have a very large program I would like to write but think starting with a smaller test program would be a good idea. What I want to know is: I have a base Form from which a user clicks a button to answer a question (Answer A, B, C, or D) which if the answer is correct will pop up a "Correct! answer response in a separate window. This is ok for now, however, when the "proceed to next question" button is clicked, I would like the next question to appear in the original base form window.
Right now it pops up in a separate window and I'd rather not have 20 windows open at the end of the quiz. How do I load the next form in the same window!? Obviously it's possible and could be something I'm completely overlooking, and I've also read that I could replace all data with the next Form. I have searched "Visual Basic load form in same window" and came up with results, but none of what I'm looking for.
The Form Designer in the IDE is no longer working properly. When I create a new project, the Form Designer will work, but after I save it and close the IDE and reopen the next day the Form Designer no longer shows the form and instead says "To prevent possible data loss before loading the designer, the following errors must be resolved: An Error occurred while parsing EntityName.Line 2, position 62" If I click ignore and continue, then it just displays a blank form with no controls. The problem appears to have started after I unistalled and reinstalled VB2008 Express.
I'm working on my first Visual basic program and I've hit a snag. I want to make a working search form that pulls data from an access database that i already have linked into my visual basic program.
Basically when they click search, i wan't it to check the textbox (lets say firstName.text box for now) for there name, then find all the entries in my database that have those names and display them in a grid.
I have two forms. Form A and Form B. Form A has a datagrid that is populated from a SQL Database Table query. When a button is pressed Form B is launched that allows you to add a record to the database table. I need for the datagrid to be refreshed and show the newly added record when I close form B and go back to the parent.
I fear that there is something obviously wrong with my code, but I have come across a situation where the Form.Load event is not firing when I create and show my form. The form is not subclassed (as I've seen some problems with that in some searches), and I am not getting any errors thrown when I step through the code in the debugger.
I have a break point set on the IDE-created form load function (which does have the Handles MyBase.Load signature suffix) but the breakpoint is never reached and the form does display and work. The form is passed three arguments in the constructor but the IntializeComponent() function is called before anything else is done.
I want one form frmFrontEnd to be the base of my application, so when i press F5 it is the first to 'open/be seen' and then from here using previous i want other forms to open. How can i set frmFrontEnd in the form load event to be the parent form? If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much room
I have a form and initialize some global variables on its Load Event. There is a TextChanged event in one control (a textbox) that uses that value. The TextChanged event of the control is triggered before the Form's Load event even if I do not change anything on the TextBox, it looks like that happens when the control is loaded. Why is it doing it before the form? and what event can I trap in order to assure it's the first thing that happens?
Its as simple as this:
vb.net Private Sub PackOutMain_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load ActiveFlag = False
[Code]....
My guess is that the msgbox should not appear until the flag is set to true somewhere in the code and then change the contents of txtUser, but it is shown before the form.
I have a DataGridViewImageColumn that should display an image for only certain rows. After I bind a generic list of classes to my datagrid, I loop through each row and update the image cell with an image that is an embedded resource for the rows that require the image. This works great if the form has been fully loaded. However, when I attempt this on form load the image doesn't show up? I also can't perform simpler things such as changing the row background color on form load. Should I be performing this logic in a different event after form load?
For i As Integer = 0 To dgvRoles.Rows.Count - 1 Dim imageStream As System.IO.Stream = Nothing imageStream = Me.GetType().Assembly.GetManifestResourceStream("MyApplication.Timer.png")
I have an Excel worksheet with a Source Cell and a Target Cell.Via GDI API functions, I draw a temporary gradient fill over the source cell which happens to be cell "D6"then, I make a transparent copy of the temp gradient fill drawn over the source cell and place the copy (ie the transparent gradient fill) over the target cell which happens to be cell "D9".
I want to fetch data from a database table modify it and update it without being dependent on the database provider and the database structure, because it will be part of a library. My first attempt was as follows:
'factory defined somewhere else as DbProviderFactory 'connection is a working DbConnection Dim selectcmd As DbCommand = connection.CreateCommand()[code]....
it did not work. After further investigation I figured out that the Commands the CommandBuilder generated were useless, because it inserted ? instead of @param1 for all Parameters. It generated something like INSERT INTO tbl1 (field1, field2, field3) VALUES (?, ?, ?) for the InsertCommand.I would really like to use the CommandBuilder, because it is simple and I don't have something complicated like JOINS.
Dim clcexists = (From p In dbContext.Signatures _ Where p.StudentID = people_id _ And p.ContractType = "clc" _ Order By p.ID Descending _ Select p)
Later I check whether any rows exist in clcexists using IsNothing like so:
If IsNothing(clcexists) Then ' If no CLC is on file. clcfirst = Date.Now.Subtract(year) clcdate = clcfirst
[Code]....
But IsNothing() is not functioning like I expect. There is no row in the results table, but it is still acting as if there is and going to the Else clause.
I am running Windows 7 pro and using Visual Basic 2010 express.I have written a small program to switch on a USB relay which is controled by a serial port.I have debuged the program and it appears to work correctly. I have published the program and if I start it from thr run menu / desktop shortcut / or through explorer it works as expected.
However I have tried to run it by the Task Scheduler and then it fails to run as expected. I have a small section of code that checks to see if the serial port is present if not I have used messagebox.show to ask for the relay to be pluged in. In every case other than when running through the Task Scheduler the messagebox works with the Task schedulerit doesn't show the messagebox and the program hangs I have included the code I have used.
Dim retry As Boolean = False Dim data() As Byte = {255, 1, 1} Do Until retry
[URL]. I have a Multi-Line textbox with several accounts in it. They are in email@email.comassword format on separate lines. All the code is right, but it goes really weird and loops like 3 times before logging in. Eventually logging into the last account on the Textbox instead of the first. It should just login to the first account...Logout....Login to the second account...Logout and continue the process.
If you want to test it, just put a web browser and a textbox1 multiline box, a button and enter a few working hotmail accounts and you'll see. Check line 17 Looks like a lot of code, but line 17 is the only bit that needs to be looked at. The rest is just junk/non-relevant to this problem. It separates the accounts perfectly and stuff, but just wont login in the right order.
I have declared a String variable(PC) for use within another String variable(currentQuery) to form a SQL statement to pass to my SQLDataAdapter variable.
I'm performing this action to change the string variable(PC) for the different onClick events I have.
It seems i can change this variable (PC) within my onClick event handlers and the 'PC' variable will change when I apply it to a testing Text Box 'testTextBox' but not for the currentQuery variable.
Do i need to perform this action as a function or am i missing something obvious - code below - I don't want to spend time writing a function to return a string value for my SQL statement if i can just tweek something in my code (below).
Partial Public Class IVMain Inherits System.Web.UI.Page Dim DBConn As New SqlConnection("Data Source=hnaServer;Initial Catalog=Hnastatus;User ID=Test;Password=test")
I am writing a program in vb.net I have to call an exe(printstatus.exe) in form load event. I successfully called exe. But I don't know how to kill that exe (printstatus.exe) when an user is logged out.
I was having a problem with the debugger not stopping at breakpoints. After a lot of work that yielded no results, I realized that the problem was occuring in the form's load event and subs called from that event.
The problem is that it appears that the load event is not being called. Other startup forms in other projects in the solution seem to be working ok.
what could be keeping the the Load event from working?
I have the following code in the Load event of my form and the 3rd statement obviously fails. My question, why does the code fail and not tell me about it? In other words, it fails and then simply displays the form without crashing. It also doesn't execute my 4th statement.[code]...
Try Dim username as String = My.Application.CommandLineArgs(0) Dim password as String = My.Application.CommandLineArgs(1) Catch Msgbox("Cannot launch") Application.Exit Exit Sub End Try
I placed this in the form's load event. What I want is for this check to run before the form even loads. If an error occurs, the msgbox comes up and the form is never seen. When I try the code now, the form comes up the msgbox shows. When the user clicks OK the form closes. I tried placing it in the form's designer but the designer tries loading the form any way. How do I get this check to run before the form shows?
I am making the Transition to VB.Net (using VB.NET 2010 express) and I have a simple problem that is driving me crazy. I wish for my Form when it Loads, initialise and then call a sub and do some stuff eg perform a plot. If i place a button on the form and click it the sub works fine. This task was simple to do in VB6 but for the life of me I cannot get it to work in VB.NET. Has the Form-Load event changed in some way with .Net?
