I have a problem with a Com Object. The object open a file for each instance and when the files open reach 20, the program raise a ComException saying that there are too many files open. I'd changed the config.sys and the config.nt to Files=120 but the exception still is raised.
I am having trouble openning my vb.net projects in vs2005. What happens when i open one is that i get several windows downloading files from the Appdatalocal emp folder. It says "do you want to open or save this file?. the file name is several random charactors with the tmp extension. do not suggest a virus. The tmp files in question are vs 2005 generated files. they contain html data indicating a problem on the form. If i close all the forms in the tabbed code area, and rebuild the project, then all is well. If i don't build the project, then when i open a form up onto the code area, i get a new download message. Anyone ever heard of this? I suspect IE8 but cannot recall if this all started when i installed IE8 or not.
Is it possible to store excel, word, pdf, .rar .zip files to a column in a table of a SQL Server 2005 DB.And also open the fie with excel, word, acrobat reader, etc????My other sollution would be to store the file on a location on a server and only sory the filename and location in my db and then open them with "Process.Start("filename")".My main problem with solution 2 is this:Lets say I install the programm on a pc called "manager". I would like to open the excel file after create the excel file. The creating file function is done, but the system unable to open the excel file. My coding as below:

I have an application that can read certain types of files, and I have it working so that if you do "open with" from windows, it automatically starts the application and opens the selected file.
Unfortnately, I cannot get it to work for more than one file.
System.Environment.GetCommandLineArgs() contrains the following: System.Environment.GetCommandLineArgs(0) = name and path to the .exe System.Environment.GetCommandLineArgs(1) = name and path to the first file selected to be opened
System.Environment.GetCommandLineArgs().Length is 2 when the user tries to open 1 file, which makes sense since the first argument is the .exe itself and the 2nd is the path to the file, but it does not increase to 3 if the user tries to open 2 files... meaning that System.Environment.GetCommandLineArgs(2) is never populated Here is some sample code that shows the problem: It will recognize no files or 1 file being opened, but if you try to open multiple it will only show the first.
I have many applications that create TLB files which I guess are so that vb2005 can comunicate with the DLL files. Now what I would like to do is have all my TLB files in one folder and have my application point to that folder to use them. The problem I am having is that my EXE will not run unless all the TLB files are in the same folder as the EXE. I do not want this. I want to put some code into my file that sais that the tlb files it needs are located in say: [code] and still have it work. again right now they all have to be in the same folder which is really bugging me.

I am trying to save an object (Class1) as string in a cell value. My issue is that from time to time I have a ComException:HRESULT: 0x8007000E (E_OUTOFMEMORY)(It is kind of random but I have not identified any particular pattern yet) when I write the value into a cell. Any ideas will be welcome
For illustration purposes: Let Class1 be the class to be converted to an Xml string. (Notice that I removed the xml declaration at the start of the string to avoid having the preamble present- non printable

The problem I face is when I try to get an instance to a file that doesn't exist in the VSSDB, thus leading to a COMException, which basically wouldn't be of a problem (I would expect). In fact the exception occurs, but instead of proceeding with the catch code, the debug cursor stays on the line "oItem = m_oSourceSafe.VSSItem(sItem)", showing a dialog with title "COMException crossed a native/managed boundary.
From here the execution doesn't proceed, until I change the content of sItem to an existing file.
Why does the exception not get caught, and how can I achieve it?

I have done quite a bit of research on this issue and haven't came up with anything definitive yet. I am having issues with Excel randomly getting ComExceptions while writing out reports. I am using a Visual Basic 2005 (framework 2.0) console application to create these reports. The problem has been difficult to figure out because it occurs in random places while writing out reports so I can't catch the error to see the problem. I have looked through the differing items that it breaks on and there is nothing odd about them that would cause any of these problems.
I am just trying to run an application on another machine than I created it and I get this error - COMException (0x80040154). I think it needs more files, but I copied the source, where could I find the other files necessary for it? [Code]
I have many container files on a hard drive, inside of them are many images. I have to get a particular image by using an ID to do this I have to go trough each of the container files and find the one which has the ID in it then I can retrieve the image.
I think I have 3 options:
load all the images at start up into memory, some images may or may not be used. as I need each image go through all the container files and open the image into memory. create a dictionary of IDs and what file they are in at start up and then get each image as I need it without have to go through all the container files.
I'm working on a piece of software using vb.net that should allow the user to open sketch up files '.skp' and perform some measure on it.how to get vb.net to open SKP files?

Basically I am trying to check for the file's existence, if not, open a template file and do a save as to a file name? However, I am stuck with the error in the title of this post at the openning of the template file line "oBook = oExcel.Workbooks.Open("X:dataOTEMPLATE.xlsx"). Below are some relavent lines in my code:
If File.Exists(str_filetemplate) Then ' Check for template file before moving on oExcel = CreateObject("Excel.Application") If File.Exists(str_fileoutput) Then ' The output file already exist, do what I need to do
I am trying to read text from an image. I have been trying to use OCR from MODI but I keep getting an error. Here is the simplest version of code (I've tried several) Dim miDoc As MODI.Document miDoc = New MODI.Document miDoc.Create("C:document1.bmp") miDoc.OCR() miDoc = Nothing
As far as I can tell, my program gets stuck every time it gets to: miDoc = New MODI.Document it tells me a COMException was unhandled
I am using vb in vb.net, and I have a reference to the COM "Microsoft Office Document Imaging 12.0 Type Library". Every thing I have tried seems to come up with the same error.
