VS 2005 - Form Resizing - Size Of Text Boxes Starts Decreasing
Mar 7, 2010
i have a button in my form which increases the font size of the form by 1. [Code] now when i increase the font size, after increasing by 3 the size of text boxes starts decreasing. this is how the form looks after size+5, when i open the form, the tabpage resize event is called 3 times.
In VB10/win forms project, when I change the forms font size the form and all the controls on the form get larger or smaller, OK great! The problem is the combo boxes then appear with their text highlighted. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong, simple example..
I have a form that has group boxes of various controls for data input. One of the group boxes contains a user control. This user control can be 1 of 7 I have depending on the type of data I wish my user to load. The 7 user controls are all of various size. My form is a fixed size, and i have allowed room for the user control to fit the largest. However, the smallest one has a lot of space obviously. The resizing of the form itself I am struggling with. It has to be the size it is at now as there is a tab control,
For example I have Form 1 with 1 button, if I press that button a small form will pop out (This form is smaller than form 1, lets call it form 2). My problem is I want that if I press the button in form 1 it will show form 2 then adjusting the size of it and centering it.
I coded the Form 1 that it will send a string Extra_Background_Form.Label1.Text = "a" to form 2 then it will load form 2
totality of code in form 1:
Extra_Background_Form.Label1.Text = "a" Extra_Background_Form.Show() AdminForm.ShowDialog()
I designed a form which contains about 50 objects all kinds including tableadapters, buttions, grids, tabs. What is the best way to optimize the loading with less time consuming. I cannot split objects in on different form as all the objects has to appear on screen as a requirement.
But my primary question here is, i designed this form with all these objects on a 15" monitor which fitted 100% on the screen. Now i am using 17" monitor when i open this form on run time, all the objects are appearing as designed but theres a 30% form area which is left blank. How can i make the form objects resize automatically on run time itself to fit on different size of monitor with no area left blank.
how to move info from text boxes on one form to binding source text boxes on another form. I am displaying array info in text boxes on one form and i need to add them to the database on another form. How do I do that?
I am trying to follow the book 'Sams teach yourself VB 2008'. It was going well until the end of hour 4. For exercise 1 I have created the form with a button and two text boxes, but cannot work out the code I need to move text between the two boxes. The Object Browser does not seem to help - am I reading it wrong?
I tried to change the size of a label from 2 text boxes, but doesn't work. Here is my code:
Private Sub Button2_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button2.Click y = TextBox2.Text x = TextBox3.Text Form2.Label1.Size = New Size(y, x) End Sub
textbox2 is width and textbox3 is height. It doesn't change and I don't know why.
I am working on my application as I am trying to resize the panel when I resizing the winform application. Do any of you know how do I resize my panel when resizing the main form in a winform application?
i am very new to VB and have been trying to make a hangman game. I was wandering if there is a way to add multiple label boxes to a form based on the size of an array. For example a user inputs the word h-e-l-l-o in a input box that word is then split and put into an array(arrword) then i want the main form to appear with 5 label boxes each one containing a letter that from the array(arrword)
Hi.. Im using an application to capture selected part of screen by resizing the form and capturing area of it!! now i want to reset the form once my work id done!! i mean if i press a "RESET" button the form should be load as first time it was loaded.(the real form size..)
I have a text file containing 10 pieces of information. I want to read the information from the text file and put it in text boxes on a form, so that the user can view the information and edit if required. What is the best way of approaching this?
I need to increase the size of my form and allow it to be scrollable vertically but I cant set my size any larger then 780 I have auto scroll set to true and from what I thought I understood I should be able to make the form longer and it would be scrollable Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong ?
I have a hidden web browser, two text boxes, and a button. I can add the login information to the forms on the web page, but how do I login? Heres my code so far
[Code]....
Basically I want to grab the ID of the sign in button (the name/id is SI) and click it. I've tried RaiseEvent(Click) and Click() but neither work...I'm not sure about the syntax and how it works in general....I don't even know if I'm doing it right.
I am using this code which I am checking with the form width size that if they are greater than 672, then do something....
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click If Me.Size.Width >= 672 Then MessageBox.Show("the form size is greater than 672") Else
[code]...
When the width size is no greater than 672, the messagebox will display that it says "the form size is greater than 672" which it sound didn't looks right for me. What I am trying to do is to check the width size that if they are greater than 672 then display the messagebox that says "the form size is greater than 672", otherwise if the width size is no greater than 672 which is equal, then display the messagebox that says "the form size is no greater than 672".
I have 3 listboxes on my form. Sometimes the items I add to the listboxes are cut off within the listbox since they are too long. In the case of that, I want all the listbox sizes to expand according to the length of the text. Once the size of the listboxes expands, I want the size of the form to expand to avoid any problems. How do I do this?
Mistakingly I have deployed an application on 20 laptops and discovered that one of the columns text size to 2 characters to small. How can I check and set this in code? If I can do it this way I don't need to get all the databases back and do it manually.
I am using many text boxes in a form. How do i validate them, In certain text boxes I have to use only text and in some I have to use only numbers. Is using ASCII is a right method or is there any easier method to do this. If so please let me know the coding.
I have created a page containing the Wizard control. It's a very simple one. User selects some data on the first page, clicks Next and then has a choice of Previous or Finish. When they click Finish the form is submitted but, for some reason, the font size of all my labels increases. There's nothing in the code of the Finish button that would do that.
I have 100 text boxes on another form I have to populate. I don't want to use 100 Form3.txt1.Text = Mid(answer,1,1) as shown below, i would like to put them in a loop, like a For loop. But when I try I get Error1'txt' is not a member of 'WindowsApplication1.Form3'.Is there another way of doing this?
I've coded a Login form with two text boxes and two buttons goes to a Users database to validate the userid and password. When I click the OK button (button1) I get an error message on the highlighted line below(Dim Reader).
It states that no value is given for one or more required parameters. What parameters are they talking about?[code...]
I want to have 5 numbers randomly selected from 500.I've set up the form with five text boxes and a button but I have no idea how, when the button is pressed, to get five random numbers to appear in each of the five text boxes.
The form has First Name, Last Name, Course and Email text box fields. First/Last Name must have no spaces, Course must consist of a three letters and two numbers in that order and nothing else(I want to avoid the use of masked text box), and Email must have the "@" sign and a dot. How would one make it so after clicking, say, Submit button and if there was a violation of any of the above rules then message box should pop up and tell the user which fields contain incorrect information.
Private Sub buttonAddNewStudent_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles buttonAddNewStudent.Click 'validation must be performed before the corresponding text box items will be placed inside an array
I want to display (DataGridView's) selected row contents (each cell value on appropriate text box) on text boxes on the form. This should be fairly simple task for experienced i am sure.So far i haven't been able to find a single working solution to accomplish that as most of the articles are written for VB / VB 2005/ VB 2008 and not VB 2010.
Here is what i have already tried. (I tried putting an image but i can't due to my privileges over flow) TextBox1.Text =DoctorsDataGridView.CurrentRow.Cells(0).Value.ToString It strangely works for first 4 selected rows and populate text boxes but fails for the rest of the DataGridView.
I have a reset button created in my VB form, but don't know how to code it so that it will accomplish what I want. I want it to clear the form's text boxes so that new input can be entered. I could just code an end statement but this closes the form, and I want to keep it open to continue working with it.
