For example if units/pieces per carton is 144 then the above code converts the pieces into cartons if the number exceeds 144 and if the pieces are less than 0 then the above code subtracts 1 from carton and adds units per carton into the number of pieces. So that the pieces never exceed total number of pieces in a carton and they are never shown to be less than 0.
I want the same effect in summary field in my crystal report. For showing sum of cartons and pieces at the end of each group.
I have a crystal report that fails on a formula field but I cannot see why.

I want Number of cartons and Pieces currently available in the stock that are about to expire in next 30 days and this is calculated based on expiry date...I have used formula field on crystal report to calculate current stock like "stock.crtns_added - stock.crtns_removed" and "stock.pieces_added - stock.pieces_removed"....Now I want to group by item name, category and expirydate because based on these three columns there can be more than 1 entries in the database....I want that when there are more than one entries the formula should sum up all the cartons and pieces for same item of a category with same expiry date and on report it should display just 1 line showing available cartons and pieces that are about to expire
How can i do this?? How can I apply group clause on the formula field in crystal report to get sum of cartons or pieces for each item based on expiry date??

All I know is that as of this point in time, the data will be one of many traditional data types(Integer, String, DateTime, etc.)I also have another column that is meant to indicate the DataType so the .NET application can handle the data and validate input accordingly.Right now, for testing, I have a DataType table in my database that stores the "supported" datatypes for the VARBINARY column, and a foreign key linking to the column meant to indicate the DataType. This works perfectly, but it feels akward.

The problem I have is: With the registry keys, how do I enter the value field with a wildcard for the location to the new installation. Based on these three values, i need to auto-populate the 4th field.I have planned to implement this in the following way.Write a separate class file with a function to calculate the possible values for the 4th fields based on 1st 3 inputs. This function can return some where between 1-10 values. So I've decided to use drop-down for 4th field, and allow users to select the appropriate value.Call the above function in onchange function of 3rd field and take and use the return values to populate the 4th field. I set the phone number field to number datatype.......in the access database...the field size is set to long integer.While trying to save a data in the database, when i enter a 10 digit number then an exception is thrown but upto 9 digit it works great.

Because the data populating the tables is coming from an outside source, I would prefer not to change the data in the original files. I have a separate table for each year because this is the way the data is provided. The field layout is not consistent from year to year, but each year there is a field that we'll call "score." I'd like to pull the field "score" from each year's table and have it populate a "score" column in a new table along with the year of the data so that all the years' scores are in the same place. Is there a way to do this using Visual Basic + Access?

I want to generate checkbox field using GridView and system will calculate how many field to display according to number of totalDay. If totalDay stored in database is 7, so upon calling the eventID it will generate 7 checkboxes, D1-D7 checkboxes field will appear; if totalDay is 5, it will generate 5 checkboxes, D1-D5 checkboxes field will appear.
In PHP, I manage to auto generate number of D field I want according to value totalDay. But I do not know how to code in VB. I'm using visual basic to code a program to help with weights and center of balance on aircrafts, as I'm my unit's new air load planner. The math isn't hard to do, it's just that much of it is trial and error, and redoing all the arithmetic over and over again until the aircraft's C/B is in acceptable limits can eat some time up. So, since i'm trying to learn programming I thought this might be a good way to use it for a real-world scenario.

I have a VS2005 utility that I'm working on that has an Access 2003 backend. A couple of days ago, my boss asked that I change one field in two tables from TEXT to MEMO, to allow more information to be put in. In doing some final pre-deployment testing, I find when I hit my button to pull up the list of tickets, I get the error

The datagrid is based on a query I have in the database. The query runs fine, and when I go through the XSD and go into Query Builder, the QB is also returning data. I have made the various changes to the utlity as suggested by Microsoft, but no luck. When I put the two columns back to TEXT, the Grid works fine.
How the heck do I set it up so that the grid will recognise the new data format? The number of characters for the individual columns is set to 37,627 (I believe, it's whatever the default is). I only have 200 characters in my test data. I need to rebuild the whole dataset - this deployment has to be done by the end of the day tomorrow and I have a whole pile of other stuff left to do.
