i have heard that there must be a button on your project for taking back up of your whole project. I want to know something that what sort of backup it will take? and other thing is that how to make that button i mean that how to take backup simply?
About 3 years ago i came across a vb project for a photo album, it was on online tutorial and I followed it and after some custom tweaking I found it was quite usefull. Unfortuatly the original sourcecode has long since vanished. The project was fairly easy to follow and I remember the author had a photo image of his sailing boat and a yellow labrador (just trying to jog some memories here) :).
Anyway; I have searched high and low for it but can not find it. I'm pretty sure it was on a msdn or some other microsoft forum and was to do with VB 2005 or VB 2008 edition of Visual studio.
I'm working under vb 2008 french version i'll try to translate my problem, hope that u get it right well yesterday i started creating a simple calculator (application windows forms) i did the half work then i save all (Ctrl+Maj+S) . Today i opened the saved file ,i get the Form1.vb page and the Form1.designer, but i cant find the Form1.vb[design] .
Its been a very long time since I don't show up here. Now I am back with a small project for internal use, but I need a little help.I want to make a program that allows me to change file attributes, like 'hidden', 'read-only' and 'system'.It seems pretty simple, but I want that multiple files can be modified at once. For this I would need a list that shows the files into the interface. There is what I can't get.
I first thought on a listbox, but there is also a listview which seems much more complete, but I just don't know how to use it. I was wondering if I could make something like: I open a folder, all the items inside that folder would be listed inside the listview.I learned a bit, but not enough. I've set the listview to 'details' mode, so I can actually list items. Also, I've added three collums: one for file name, other for file size and another for file attributes. I just need to learn now how they works.

No luck.
Is there a tool to convert a VB.NET 2005 project to a C# 2008 project. I am trying to convert our project to VS 2008 and mostly port all the vb.NET code in some projects to C# 3.0/3.5.
ok so when i was watching a tutorial with my dad about learning the ropes of vb express 2005 i saw something he had that i didn't. so i paused the video and my dad tried getting the part to where i needed it and in the process deleted most of the stuff on the right hand side. so he uninstalled then reinstalled and we got most of it back except the solution exlorer. now i've gone to view and when i click on the solution exporer nothing happens.
I'm making a program that updates a ListView filled with processes every second. After updating, it scrolls back up to the top. How do I stop it from doing that?
Just copied a saved VB 2005 project to a new machin which has VB 2005. When I build or rebuild this project I get one error and 14 Warnings...Warnings and error are:Warning 1 The referenced component 'LCC11' could not be found.Warning 2 The referenced component 'Microsoft.Office.Core' could not be found. Warning 3 The referenced component 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word' could not be found.
I have a main form with 2 splitcontainers. On the left is a richtextbox showing the clients details and how many active tickets they have open and cmd buttons which opens different uc's within the container on the right. What I am attempting to do is when a client raises a new ticket, that the global variable holding the ticket count number updates via a procedure and updates the richtextbox on the main form. The line of code that runs within the UC is:
The part I have highlighted errors with the following reason: 'textUserDetails'is not a member of 'System.Windows.Forms.SplitterPanel'.I have checked and double checked the form names etc and textUserDetails definately exists within formMain.SplitContainer3.Panel2.
How do I fix this error in Visual Studio? "The project file cannot be loaded. The application for project ... is not installed" I have copied a whole project onto my PC, both into My Documents/Visual Studio and into inetpub/wwwroot, but when I try to open the project in Visual Studio, it tries to open just 1 file .vssproj and gives me error messages, like : "The project file cannot be loaded. The application for project ... is not installed.". What am I doing wrong? The VS edition is 2005 as are all the projects aI am trying to load.
I had made a project in VB.NET 2005 with SQL SERVER 2005 used as database. Now i want to make a setup of this project but i am unable to integrate sqldatabase and .net framework in this setup project. Is there any way to do this. Because it is assumed that the client does not have .NET Framework installed nor he has SQL Server on his system and the worst condition would be he does not have even internet connection from where these two setups can be downloaded if we give the condition for downloading these programs from the net if the client does not have these programs installed on his machine.
I'm attempting to copy a rather complex form from one part of my project and use it (modified) within another part (ie, depending on whether it's maintenance or an outage, you'll get a slightly different email screen).
My first attempt failed miserably, as I had simply right-clicked and pasted the form within the project, assuming renaming the controls would work. nope, I didn't realise that there was stuff in the original form that was renamed as well, and that created a monstrous pile of errors. My second through fourth attempts also failed, generating errors in forms that (I thought) weren't related or connected. Once I deleted the copied form, all was fine.
So, short of trying to rebuild the form from scratch (using a different naming convention for my controls etc.), is there a simple way of doing this? This seems to be such a simple task, but alas I was wrong....(or, at least it's not easy with the information I have right now.
The following loop starts in x then loops thru y 20 times then goes back and finishes x. how do I get it to loop thru x then complete loop y then loop x once more then loop y completely again 20 times then back to x and another 20 ys. there should be 200 loops today.

I need to figure this out as part of a larger program.
I am using the select command to find a specific row and if its found update it but when I update back to live database I get a concurrency error. Here is my
I have a open and file save dialog which I use to open and save file. There are also some labels in the application. During the time a file is open or saved, the file open /save dialog becomes blurred by the background labels. Is there any way to prevent this? The attached pic is given as an example to explain the dilemma.
I have some ActiveX that was written for VB6. They all seem to return Variant types. Ex.

In this case the GetPosition control is returning a robot axis position. It looks to me like the values coming back from the function is not getting converted to object type properly.
I am using an image button and on click of it i want to go to visited page. Now i am using - Response.Redirect(Request.UrlReferrer.ToString()),It is going to previous page, but when i am in a page of some user details where the link is looks like - users.aspx?userid=25 and i visit some other page and click back(image button) i want to see the same userdetail page. How to track that.
I have a search page with a couple of pulldowns. Dependig on the values of them I show a grid matching the searched criteria, basically a table with links the user can navigate to. My problem comes when the user wants to navigate back. At the moment I have a "Back" button which simply redirects the user to the initial search page. I think it would be a good improvement to have the values of the pulldowns filled in with the values the user selected, this way when he presses the "Back" button he would not have to restart the whole search process again.
We have a server application and a client application that communicates with each other using socket.
When the server application sends 2 messages about 16-31 ms apart, the 1st message is received by the client application with little delay (like 16-32 ms after it was sent). But the 2nd message is received by the client application a lot later (like 200 ms later) than when it was sent.
We already disabled Nagle algorithm (set NoDelay = True) in the socket in both the server and client application.
We are having problems with sending back to back emails on one of our web sites. The site is built with .net framework 2.0.We can send the first email without any problems on every try. But to send a second email you need to wait about 20-30 minutes.the problem. One thing we tried was changing the smtp email server. We tried a third party smtp server but the same problem persisted. So I think the problem is not with the smtp server but with our .net code.
I have a VS 2005 project. I want to create a project that is exactly the same except for the back end database name. Table names and structure, form names, etc., would not change. What is the easiest way to accomplish this? Copy the project? Start a new project and copy all forms, datasets, etc.?
I am hoping that someone from the forum is familiar with the Doing Objects in Visual Basic 2005 book so that this question makes a little more sense. I have completed the sample project and understand most of what I have done. There are some holes in my knowledge but I am sure I will pick up those pieces as I become more familiar with object orientated programming.
The sample project is an almost complete application where you view and edit Objects that are stored in a database. The author leaves the remaining features needed up to the reader, which is great because I have been able to put new knowledge into use. However I am having trouble saving a new object back to the database.

By looking at this code it appears that I can save the data that is in the bindingsource by changing the EntityState to the Enum added. However I am not sure where to set it. I am pretty confident that I have the rest of this correct because when I try to do the save I get an error that the stored procedure is expecting the GoalID.
