VS 2008 - How To Get Design Back When Editing Project
Oct 3, 2009I reopened my project to edit it but it is only showing the code not the design I cant get it back how do I do it?

Editing Databases After They've Been Added To The Project -VB 2008
May 12, 2010Not sure if I'm posting this in the right area, but here goes anyway. I've been working with sql databases for practice, but can't seem to get around one thing; after I add it as a data source, I can't go back and add tables.
I start off by going through the project, then add item, choose the service-based database, and go from there. I add the tables, then go in and add it as a data source.
After I've added it as a data source, I can go back into the .mdf form and add lines and edit properties, but it wont update in the data sources. So, I can't add it to the form.

Get Design View Back?
Mar 8, 2009I am making a program using Windows Form Application, and I had it set up in the design view. I double clicked a button to begin coding and up popped a ton of stuff in the code view that I had never seen before. I closed that, and somehow closed the design view by accident too. Now I can't get my design view back, even by re-opening the program (I didn't save), and double clicking the form to open it. It opens up as "Form1.vb" rather than "Form1.vb [Design]".What happened, how can I fix this and get my design view back?

Oct 6, 2011About 3 years ago i came across a vb project for a photo album, it was on online tutorial and I followed it and after some custom tweaking I found it was quite usefull. Unfortuatly the original sourcecode has long since vanished.The project was fairly easy to follow and I remember the author had a photo image of his sailing boat and a yellow labrador (just trying to jog some memories here) :).
Anyway; I have searched high and low for it but can not find it. I'm pretty sure it was on a msdn or some other microsoft forum and was to do with VB 2005 or VB 2008 edition of Visual studio.
[OOD] Class Design For With Database Back End
Feb 6, 2010I was hoping that I could get some guidance from some of you guys on Object Design with Database back ends. I am trying to build what could be considered to be my first full scale application, which is a student tracker (simplification). While I have a reasonable idea of how I would go about designing the classes for the system, the bit that I don't know how to do is, how I would go about getting the data to and from the database.
For example with my other applications, I have done a couple of things;
1) Gathered all the data when the application started up, creating the objects then. Then when the application closed sending the data back to the database.
2) Have the code which deals with getting the data in the specific class, so the student class for example would take only one constructor argument which would be the studentID, then the class code would connect to the database and populate the object fields as appropriate.
3) Variations of the above. I have also looked into LINQ, which seems like it would be very useful if you don't expect your classes to deal with any business logic and just data, but I suppose it would be possible to create a wrapper class that would include the business logic.

Jun 3, 2011Its been a very long time since I don't show up here.Now I am back with a small project for internal use, but I need a little help.I want to make a program that allows me to change file attributes, like 'hidden', 'read-only' and 'system'.It seems pretty simple, but I want that multiple files can be modified at once. For this I would need a list that shows the files into the interface. There is what I can't get.
I first thought on a listbox, but there is also a listview which seems much more complete, but I just don't know how to use it. I was wondering if I could make something like: I open a folder, all the items inside that folder would be listed inside the listview.I learned a bit, but not enough. I've set the listview to 'details' mode, so I can actually list items. Also, I've added three collums: one for file name, other for file size and another for file attributes. I just need to learn now how they works.

May 5, 2010For reasons that are beyond my control, I have three Projects. Projects A and B reference project C. Project A references project B so that it can open a large form in project B. I now need to open that large form from project C, but VB won't allow me to add a reference from C to B because that would create a circular dependency. I found a way around it, though. I created a Timer in A, and when I opened C from A, I passed in that timer. When the user performs a certain action, I enable the Timer from A, and this causes C to open B for me.
