I have a open and file save dialog which I use to open and save file. There are also some labels in the application. During the time a file is open or saved, the file open /save dialog becomes blurred by the background labels. Is there any way to prevent this? The attached pic is given as an example to explain the dilemma.
View 1 RepliesI need a code for the open file dialog that if a file is not supported then a message box appears stating the error. This is my open file dialog code. [code] The message box pops up like it is suppose to, when you click ok the open file comes back up like it is suppose to. When you put in the correct file the message box comes back up again. Also the message pops up even if the correct file is put in the open file. but if you close the file dialog the image is where it is suppose to be.I believe the code for the public sub wrongfile is what is the problem. can some one look it over and let me know what changes are needed.

The problem is that if I save a file I get "myfile.GDL" if I overwrite that I get a new file "myfile.GDL.GDL" ect.the other problem being that the filtering in the windows save/open dialog wont show .GDL files unless I select "all files".
I am wanting to find out how to use the Win32 hooks to allow me to add extra save locations to the save and open dialog box so as to allow as an option for files to be saved directly to a database rather than a file system.I have tried looking online but can't find anything remotely usable for this, the only data on hooks that I can find involves Window operation hooks, mouse, leyboard, and shell hooks, nothing to do with files.

I timestamp the files to keep them uniquely identified for auditing purposes.I've now received a requirement to email some of these files externally to the company, and someone has complained that the current filenames are not user-friendly.So, I tried copying the generated file to a temp directory, with a friendlier name, emailing the friendlier file, then deleting it, leaving my audit trail intact, like so: [code]This throws a System.IO.IOException on the line System. IO.File. Delete (friendly FilePath) because the file is still in use, after it has been emailed.I've taken out the email code, which makes the copying and deleting work fine, so it's apparently attaching the file to the email which causes the problem.I've also tried breakpointing before the delete line, waiting five minutes, confirming the email has been sent, then advancing the code, but the same exception is still thrown.

I haven't formatted the second oval yet but is will color itself and place itself with conditions I have yet to create. What I'm stuck on is I need a way to save my work. Then Open it when I return or wish to see what I did. I am using the SaveFileDialog and OpenFileDialog to set/get the file but what I am have issue with is the code needed to save all the Ovals on the page and redraw them. Can one of you give me some guidance? Do I need to create a Serializable Class to draw my ovals to start with and not use the Powerpacks.Shapes?

I am developing a Open/Save dialog that has reduced access to the system (no editting, moving or deleting existing files and folders). I have been succesful at achieving these goals now and I only have one thing left to tackle, but I can't figure it out yet.I want to change the things that are displayed in the top combobox. I want "My Computer" to be the top element and then show specified hard drives beneath it.
I have achieved all my previous goals by using hooks into the default dialogs and I wonder if my last problem could be solved in the same way.
I have a form that I am calling by using showdialog(). In that form, there is a button that will call another form by using showdialog(). When I close the second dialog box, it also closes the first dialog box. Is there some way to keep the first dialog open?

The first problem i have is that i have a picturebox as the entire form like the desktop background but the progrblem is that i have some group boxes over that picturebox box. I created a program that has serval labels on a form and a listview object. It has a button that when clicked reads a textfile and loads up values in the listview object. I then can click and drag text from the listview box to any label on the form and then the program removes the value from the listview box. Now, my question is how can I instruct VB to save these values in the text property of the labels so that the next time the program is loaded the labels will contain the values loaded during the last run time session?

I have found a way to build a playlist for it but it would be helpful if I could save the contents of TextBox1 to a text file without using the save as. I am trying to get over a user inputting a file name for the finished text file so is it possible to write the file c: est.txt without using the save as dialog? I have found that I can use a vbs program file which creates a playlist in a folder. I save the vbs file text to the textbox then save it as a vbs file in the playlist directory, then execute the finished file to make the playlist.
