Open File Dialog That If File Is Not Supported Then Message Box Appears Stating Error

Dec 30, 2008

I need a code for the open file dialog that if a file is not supported then a message box appears stating the error. This is my open file dialog code. [code] The message box pops up like it is suppose to, when you click ok the open file comes back up like it is suppose to. When you put in the correct file the message box comes back up again. Also the message pops up even if the correct file is put in the open file. but if you close the file dialog the image is where it is suppose to be.I believe the code for the public sub wrongfile is what is the problem. can some one look it over and let me know what changes are needed.

Add An SQL Database File Using VS 2005 Getting Error Message Saying Version Of Database Server Not Supported?

May 18, 2009

I recently upgraded the MS SQL Server installed on my personal computer from 2005 Express to 2008 Express. Problem is when I try to add an SQL database file to a project using VS 2005 I get an error message saying that the version of my database server is not supported, I must have SQL Server 2005 Beta 2 or later installed. I didn't do it yet but I'm pretty sure that when I open the other projects that I included a database file to it, I'm going to get the same error.
My question is it possible to have two SQL Servers installed on my machine? If so, is it a good idea to have two DB servers in the same machine?

I'm running in to a bit of a strange error with an application I'm writing. However when I use an OpenFileDialog box in VB.NET and select one of these shortcuts to take me to the file I'm after I am getting the following error message...

Error Message: "This Server Version Is Not Supported Only Servers Up To Microsoft SQL 2005 Are Supported"

Nov 6, 2009

Error Message: "This server version is not supported. Only servers up to Microsoft SQL 2005 are supported VB.NET" I am using VB.NET 2008 and attempting to connect to SQL Server 2008 with XP as the operating system. I have service pack 1 installed in Visual Studio but this error message presists. The articles I have read on this error said to install sp1 as a solution but I have done that and the error persists. FYI, the error does not occur when I am using code to connect to SQL Server but when I attempt to connect using one of the designer wizards this error occure.

File Appears To Be Held Open After Being Sent As Attachment By SmtpClient

Feb 8, 2012

I have a number of files that are generated in a function defined as:[code]These files are immediately printed and the files are automatically saved to a directory; the files themselves are not for use by the actual software users. I timestamp the files to keep them uniquely identified for auditing purposes.I've now received a requirement to email some of these files externally to the company, and someone has complained that the current filenames are not user-friendly.So, I tried copying the generated file to a temp directory, with a friendlier name, emailing the friendlier file, then deleting it, leaving my audit trail intact, like so: [code]This throws a System.IO.IOException on the line System. IO.File. Delete (friendly FilePath) because the file is still in use, after it has been emailed.I've taken out the email code, which makes the copying and deleting work fine, so it's apparently attaching the file to the email which causes the problem.I've also tried breakpointing before the delete line, waiting five minutes, confirming the email has been sent, then advancing the code, but the same exception is still thrown.

File I/O And Registry :: Progress Bar And Open File Dialog VB2010?

Jun 7, 2011

code snippet that would allow a progress bar to track the input of a text file? Normally I would not bother with this, but the text files are > 10,000 lines long, which is noticable even on a fast machine. The number of lines is variable, so I would assume that one would not use a fixed value to calculate when the progress bar goes 100%.

Using Open File Dialog In Function?

Jan 7, 2009

I have completed the vb tutorial on

[URL]

and have successfully got a file name from the open file dialog when coded as part of the "Public Class Form1" -> Private Function btnOpenXML_Click function that was generated automatically by vb. The openFD was generated by adding the OpenFileDialog to the pane underneath the form.

Private Function btnOpenXML_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnOpenXML.Click
Dim strFileName As String

[Code]....

I'd like to move this code to a module so that it does not clutter my main form1 layout.

However when copy the code to a new module, the openFD is not recognised.

how to I re-declare this openFD or pass it into the function so that it can be used?

Open File Dialog - Specify Initial View?

May 18, 2009

i have wrote a program that allows users to open and save text files etc and it all works fine. All i was hoping to find out is if it is possible to specify the initial folder you are taken to when using the OpenFileDialog. This would be useful as the users only open and edit files from one folder which takes quite a bit of drilling down to to find.

Public Partial Class MainForm
Dim i As Integer = 0
Sub OpenToolStripMenuItemClick(sender As Object, e As EventArgs)

[Code].....
