View 4 RepliesI need a code for the open file dialog that if a file is not supported then a message box appears stating the error. This is my open file dialog code. [code] The message box pops up like it is suppose to, when you click ok the open file comes back up like it is suppose to. When you put in the correct file the message box comes back up again. Also the message pops up even if the correct file is put in the open file. but if you close the file dialog the image is where it is suppose to be.I believe the code for the public sub wrongfile is what is the problem. can some one look it over and let me know what changes are needed.
View 7 RepliesWe create a class library and ship C# and VB.NET examples.I have a solution of 60 C# projects. If I make an edit to one of them, Visual Studio only builds the changed one. I have an equivalent solution of 60 VB.NET projects. Visual Studio always builds all 60 projects. Why? Is there a way to force Visual Studio to behave like it does with C# projects?
I should mention that there are no dependencies between the projects.More information: It's not recompiling, really, it's just checking if they need compilation and that takes a significant amount of time.
Here's the build output: Build: 0 succeeded, 3 failed, 58 up-to-date, 0 skipped Those 58 checks take about 30 seconds in my solution of VB.NET projects. This same up-to-date check is almost instant in the solution of C# projects. No edit is necessary. Just switching startup projects is enough.
Between testing sessions on my windows service, I'm changing code (little tweaks here and there). For more detailed debugging, I've had the application send messages to a text file everytime it does something (executes a new procedure, catches an exception, etc).
I've been doing this for a while, but ever since yesterday, it appeared that the new code wasn't being used. To test this, I changed the name and location of the log file that the service would use, and re-installed it shortly after a new successful build. As it turns out, the service is writing only 1 message (about a timer being started - which is only supposed to happen after it's logged the start of the service) to the old text file. It looks to me like my service isn't using the new code in my Service1.vb file, Like the old code has been cached or something, and the service is installing from that.
i just want to ask how can i trap the deletion message appears whenever i delete one item in may data entry? im using vb2008 and sql as my database.i know the code in access. does anyone know its counterpart in vb2008? here's the code in Access 2003acDataErrContinue

I'm not sure if it's code that i'm missing or code that shouldn't be there.

While I'm trying to build a solution after I've changed a little in its code it gave me an error and even when I've removed the code the same error appears.
"Unable to find manifest signing certificate in the certificate store." (That is the Error and it either stop building or run last successful build.)
I am getting the following error when I am trying to build my website, It is an error to use a section registered asallowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level.Thiserror can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as anapplication in IISI am using IIS express for my website and created a virtual directory and mapped in to a directory. I am trying to build an error handler for my desktop application. The code Is in the class ZipCM.ErrorManager listed below. What I am finding is that the outputted file is not giving me the correct info for the StackTrace. Here is how I am trying to use it:
Try
'... Some stuff here!
Catch ex As Exception
Dim objErr As New ZipCM.ErrorManager
[code]....
What is happenning is the .GetFileLineNumber() is getting the line number from 'objErr.Stack = New System.Diagnostics.StackTrace(True)' inside my Try..Catch block. In fact, it's the exact line number that is on. how I can catch the real line number the error is occuring on?
I am getting an "ArgumentOutOfRangeException" on parameter index whenever I try to instantiate a session factory in nHibernate. The error comes from a procedure deep in the bowels of nHibernate. This is on a fresh project with a pretty simple three tier architecture. The data layer maps the nHibernate classes to simple interfaces which are implemented by the business layer.Currently there is only one interface set and mapping file being used by nHibernate. Hopefully my issue is easy to spot.
Here is the function where I build the sessionFactory.
Private Shared Function SessionFactory() As ISessionFactory
If _sessionFactory Is Nothing Then
Dim config As New NHibernate.Cfg.Configuration
config.Configure()
[code]....
Edit2: When I remove the discriminator I no longer get this error. Am I not doing that right?
Edit 3: When I download the source code for nHibernate, build it on my own, link to it's debug output and run it, I get a completely different error about ProxyFactoryFactory not being configured.

View 1 RepliesI know it's possible in asp.net to create a custom error page in a web app, by putting the following line in the web.config: <customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="frmErrorPage.aspx" />
I have had to do this for my web app, since it is clearly much tidier than letting the program bomb out with it's ugly default error page. My custom error page just has the customer's logo and a brief message saying "Error has occurred. Please return to homepage"The trouble now is that I have no way of knowing what caused the error, when a customer reports it.
Is there a way to make the actual error message appear on this custom error page too?
I dragged and dropped a label control on my web form. But then whe I go to my VB .net code behind file, if I try and set a property on that label control, I am getting a "Declaration Expected" error message for the label I created.Yet if I do try and explicitly declare my label control, the compiler tells me that the label control is already declared.[code]
View 4 RepliesI have created a solution where no problems occur when debugging. After copying the complete solution to another folder i cannot debug this solution. I receive an error "Public Property DisplayName As String' and 'Public ReadOnly Property DisplayName As String' cannot overload each other because they differ only by 'ReadOnly' or 'WriteOnly'." in the web.g.vb file. I deleted the web.g.vb file and build the solution but this does not solve the problem. (The original solution debugs withoud any problem)

View 1 RepliesI began setting up a TeamCity server a couple days ago for use in automated testing and CI. We mainly do VB.net web apps and up until now, it had been checking out things and building just fine.
A problem came up when I tried to add actual deployment into the mix. I saw this article: [URL]
referenced all over the place as a good guide, so I followed the steps relating to setting up a Web Deployment project and rigging TeamCity to run it. Basically, it recommends setting up a new build configuration in VS2010 called "Deployment" which builds the Web Deployment project, then creating a build configuration in TC that targets it.
The issue is that the web deployment project won't compile when run under TeamCity. The regular build works just fine, but if I set MSBuild to use the build configuration that includes the Web Deployment project, it crashes halfway through and gives an error about attempting to load the System.Data.OracleClient assembly in an incorrect format. I assume this means a 32-bit/64-bit error, especially since my development machine is a 32-bit box, and the build server is 64, but I don't know why this is happening, especially when the regular build works, and nothing in my project involves using an Oracle database.
I saw in the log that there's a warning about missing reference assemblies for the 4.0 framework, so I headed off to the MS website and downloaded the SDK, but that didn't change anything. At this point, I'm stuck, and I didn't see anything already here on Stack Overflow that looked quite like this. I'll attach the log below. Have I missed something simple?
