View 1 RepliesI want to make a very simple program that remove duplicate domain name from a txt file. First, it must have a Open file Button so that it can load list of url to Listbox.
So, the URLs will be loaded into listbox. Then It has 2 more button Start and Save button Lastly one counter to calculate how many URL in that listbox
So example.. let say I have a txt file which contains URLs
[URL]
I open this txt file and loaded it into listbox (can scroll)
Then when I press start button, it will delete the URL that has same domain name. so the output will look like this
[URL]
Then I can save the URL from listbox to my disc drive as text file
The below message appears when I build a solution. How to avoid this? Please provide me a detailed answer. I am a beginner of Visual basic.

At the moment I have items that are stored in a database, when the homepage loads these items are added to a Gridview which allows the user to select the items they wish to add to their shopping cart. In my DataGridView, there is a column for names of machines in the database and I want to count how many machines of each time I have. I have set aside 1 text box with 1 label for each time of machine and in the text box, I want to display how many machines of that type are in the DataGridView?For example, I have 50 records and 30 of those records use machine "80ER" while 12 use "90E" and 8 of them are "PM100". I'd like the 80ER text box to show 30, 90E text box to show 12, and PM100 text box to show 8.

I have a customer and booking data sets on my form. customer id is a foreign key in booking table .but when i click delete button. it gives me an error: The DELETE statement conflicted with the REFERENCE constraint "FK_Booking_Customer". The conflict occurred in database "photoshoot", table "dbo.Booking", column 'Cust_id'. The statement has been terminated. Its a one to many relation between customer and booking. one customer can make many bookings each booking will belong to only 1 customer.

View 2 RepliesTo object oriented programming and programming with visual basic .net (vb 2008 express). regarding storing of information but not in a database. Someone mentioned using binary or xml serialization. So I researched that and after two long 8 hour days of messing around with binary serialization and about a dozen different code techniques i finally found one that seems to work. I created a module that serializes two variables and appends them into a file. The same module also has a sub that deserializes the information from the file and displays in a message box. If needed I'll provide the code later.
Really the problem I am having is that my message box only displays the first entry into the file and no other. So I can append any number of variables to the file but every time I call the subroutine in my module it only displays the first entry. How do you read all of the file? Also can I search the file for a particular value of a variable? The variables are codependent. The two variables are simply a date and a string representing a changing code that corresponds to that specific date. So I'd like to be able to say search for a date and retrieve both the date and the code.
However I don't have any idea how to do this. Also the messagebox.show method is probably not the best way to illustrate the information in the file but I'm still new and I'm not sure the best way to show all the info in the file. For instance if I wanted to show the entire contents or just the codes corresponding to certain dates. I know a database is probably the better answer but I've gotten this far without one, lol, I'm too stubborn to change now. Once I figure this out, I'll switch and try the same technique with a database.
I need a code for the open file dialog that if a file is not supported then a message box appears stating the error. This is my open file dialog code. [code] The message box pops up like it is suppose to, when you click ok the open file comes back up like it is suppose to. When you put in the correct file the message box comes back up again. Also the message pops up even if the correct file is put in the open file. but if you close the file dialog the image is where it is suppose to be.I believe the code for the public sub wrongfile is what is the problem. can some one look it over and let me know what changes are needed.

I have two listboxes: 'listbox1' for what the password is for, and 'listbox2' for the password. I also have a remove button. I would like it so when you press the remove button, the selected item in listbox1 is removed and the password in listbox2 is also deleted. The passwords are stored in two settings: what, and pw. The items that will be deleted will have the same value. By value i mean they will be the same number item. E.G. the 1st item, or the 3rd item in the list.

View 2 RepliesI've been testing an application I'm working on in Windows 7, Vista and XP. If I'm using XP then I get a couple of solid black blocks after the items listed in the ListBox. They are absent when running the same application in Vista or 7. I have the enable application framework checkbox unchecked. I haven't tried changing that to see if it makes a difference.

I don't understand what's going on here I published my project, and when I create new records and save them, everything gets saved and shows up each time I run the program.I open the database in SQL Server and none of the tables have the new data, but it still shows up when I run the program each time.

CASE 1: If the Original CSV Data is: "ABC" It will appear as like ""ABC""
CASE 2: If the Original CSV Data is: O"K" It will appear as like O""K""
It will create extra quotes after importing into the datagrid. Does it related to Split() function?

Currently we are using a VB script macro created in word to create some fairly simple forms based off of data entered on a data entry form. I am very new to VB, and I have been able to create many applications using forms, but I have absolutely no history creating reports. I have been reading up on the reports, and it looks like they are designed to use with data sources like tables. I merely want to take either data from the entry form, or from data derived internaly from processing the user entered data and populate a defined report "form". I have been searching, but there is so much on printing reports, that I feel overwhelmed. I am not looking for the exact answer as much as a link or place to look for a sample for what I want to do.

That code works to read the entry data and to recognise the correct data, and the incorrect. However, even if entry is correct, the error msgbox will appear (x times of how many records there are in file), despite being navigated to the menu. Anyway that the Else isn't triggered when data is correct. Also for it to appear just one instead of (x times of how many records there are in file.)
[code]....I have a dialog that comes up and asks for a reason for declining the business.I don't want the code to move on after not enabling the "me" until the reason has been entered and saved into the database. Also, at that point where it says "I WANT...." I want to copy the textbox fields into a new database and then delete this entry from the database, how can I do that. I am using VS 2008 and SQL.
