After Copying A Solution - Error - Cannot Overload Each Other Because They Differ Only By 'ReadOnly' Or 'WriteOnly'." In The Web.g.vb File

Oct 11, 2010

I have created a solution where no problems occur when debugging. After copying the complete solution to another folder i cannot debug this solution. I receive an error "Public Property DisplayName As String' and 'Public ReadOnly Property DisplayName As String' cannot overload each other because they differ only by 'ReadOnly' or 'WriteOnly'." in the web.g.vb file. I deleted the web.g.vb file and build the solution but this does not solve the problem. (The original solution debugs withoud any problem)

Copying A Set Of Private Variables Into Corresponding Public ReadOnly Properties?

Oct 18, 2011

I have a bunch of private variables I've typed out and I want to put all of my corresponding Public ReadOnly Properties in a bunch below them.Is there some way of copying ten lines of

Private _myVar As String

and pasting in ten sets of

Public Readonly Property MyVar As String
Get
Return _myVar[code]....

I'm currently copying the whole bunch of variable declarations, Find+Replacing Private _ into Public ReadOnly Property then going line-by-line expanding the definitions and writing return statements.how to avoid all this nonsense in the future, as I'm developing on a virtual terminal server, and the input lag on my little copy/paste/type operations on the code is driving me up the wall.

Multithreading Overload Resoultion Error

Jan 23, 2012

I am attempting to use multithreading in one of my VB programs for the first time in attempt to make it more efficient.I have some code that starts the thread but I get an overload resolution error. When initialitzing the thread I am calling a boolean function and not a Sub, but I am not sure if that is the problem.I think the problem may be that the class in which I want the thread to start in has Option Strict Off while the class initalizing is set to Option Strict On.I will post my error and the code which is causing the error. Receive The Error "this Isn't A Valid Solution File"

Nov 7, 2011

I was working on a project of which I've spent over six months of rigorous work on when my computer auto-hibernated due to the battery power level being insufficient. Upon plugging it in 20 minutes later and re-starting VS I attempted to re-open my solution when I recieved the error "this isn't a valid solution file." I then tried to examine this file by opening it (a copy I made of it) in Notepad. though there is data in this file it isn't visible and hence I have no clue as to how I may recover this file.

Visual Studio did ask me if I wanted to recover this file when I first re-started it and I answered yes. I then closed VS, re-opened, clicked on my Solution and recieved the error that it isn't a valid solution file. I really don't know why any problem existed in the first place. Usually upon running out of power my system does fine at hybernating and then re-starting. Nothing seemed different this time except that I was running an instance of my application (Debug mode) when the computer auto-Hybernated on me.

Error: Overload Resolution Failed Because No Accessible 'New' Can Be Called Without A Narrowing Conversion

Sep 11, 2010

I have a little problem here. I am getting an error which they are jumping on this statement: a.Proxy = New WebProxy(Address.Text, Ports.Text). I have removed the equal to replace with the Address.Text and Ports.Text, I have tried to included And statement and the '&' in that statement, but I keep get the messagebox. The ip I am connecting are working well.

Here it is the

Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
Try
Dim a As HttpWebRequest = DirectCast(HttpWebRequest.Create("http://whatismyip.com/automation/n09230945.asp"), HttpWebRequest)

[code]....

Error: Overload resolution failed because no accessible 'New' can be called without a narrowing conversion: 'Public Sub New(Address As String, BypassOnLocal As Boolean)': Argument matching parameter 'BypassOnLocal' narrows from 'String' to 'Boolean'. 'Public Sub New(Host As String, Port As Integer)': Argument matching parameter 'Port' narrows from 'String' to 'Integer'.

I shouldn't have the messagebox displaying on my screen while I am connect to the ip. I have tried with the dim statement to included the textbox strings, but it doesn't help. how I could included the strings of the textbox in the a.Proxy = New WebProxy statement?

Why Do Lambda Expressions In VB Differ From C#

Jul 19, 2011

I just came across a bug in NHibernate which happens to already be raised: [url] I'm not sure if this applies to anything else other than enums but when using a Lambda from VB, it looks different to the same Lambda from C#.

C#:

Where(x => x.Status == EmployeeStatus.Active)

VB

Where(Function(x) x.Status = EmployeeStatus.Active)

They are the same as far as I'm aware? (My VB isn't great) If I put a break point on the same line of code, where the above code is passed into. In C# I get: On the same line when VB version is passed in, I get: Is this something I'm doing wrong? Is the result's the same, just displayed different between C#/VB?

Edit: Ok so they are displayed different, but they can't be the same because NHibernate cannot handle it. The C# version is handled perfectly fine by NHibernate, the VB version resolves in the following exception being thrown: [Code]
