View 5 RepliesI am writing a Windows Form program to automatically download and store generated PDF reports from a web site using the WebBrowser Control. The web site uses Ajax to link an icon back to the source aspx file which then returns a PDF file.
The problem I have is that the WebBrowser control brings up the File Save As dialog box when the PDF file is returned and I can find no way of handling this to cature and save the returned file. I have found other examples of how to manage this using the Navagating event to validate the extension of the file that is being accessed (e.g. [URL] and, if not an HTM, file then use the HTTP Web control to directly download the file. Unfortunately this will not work as the call references a .aspx page.
Im trying to save a file in XML and offer the user a save dialog to appear so they can name the file. The file will save using a custom file extention. The problem is I keep getting off the wall suggestions and Im looking for a simple solution. Here is what I have, please only show examples using my syntax based code. I have a open and file save dialog which I use to open and save file. There are also some labels in the application. During the time a file is open or saved, the file open /save dialog becomes blurred by the background labels. Is there any way to prevent this? The attached pic is given as an example to explain the dilemma.

I have a project that will add the conents of a .txt file to a listbox but how would I make the program to open a browse for file dialog when a user click a button and then add the file to something to be read from like:

The problem is that if I save a file I get "myfile.GDL" if I overwrite that I get a new file "myfile.GDL.GDL" ect.the other problem being that the filtering in the windows save/open dialog wont show .GDL files unless I select "all files".

I am developing a Open/Save dialog that has reduced access to the system (no editting, moving or deleting existing files and folders). I have been succesful at achieving these goals now and I only have one thing left to tackle, but I can't figure it out yet.I want to change the things that are displayed in the top combobox. I want "My Computer" to be the top element and then show specified hard drives beneath it.
I have achieved all my previous goals by using hooks into the default dialogs and I wonder if my last problem could be solved in the same way.
I am currently working on an application to automate file download(s). My main application is running a query for downloads with embedded browser. When the results are returned they need to be downloaded and saved. This works fine. The last step of the process it to start download and the 'File Download' dialog pops up. I have created my own version of word pad. When I click save on the file drop down, the save dialog box pops up, but if I click cancel then my program crashes. I am not sure what I need to do so that if I hit cancel, it will just return to my program.[code]

In my form I have added a webbrowser that will navigate into a URL and that URL ends with an extension (.zip) now my problem is that I want to disable the File Download Dialog in order to download it without interruption .N.B : I don't want to use the HTTP CLIENT because I need the webbrowser to navigate to another page after downloading the file.
