I list one of the columns in a listbox. The user selects an item, then I want a textbox to display what's in a different column for that row.

My program reads a 3rd party .txt file using OleDb and reads the file into a datatable. It's overall working fine except a user will occasionally have a problem reading a file. At this point.

It can not retrieve a date for one of the fields, then gives error and does not get dates for each records after the one it gets hung up on but the date is in the file. If I open the file in excel and play with the column sizing, for instance just autoformat column width then it read the date and will work fine. I have looked at the file in notepad and cant see anything wrong in particular on the record it gets hung up on. I have no control over the .txt file since it comes form a 3rd party.
So I've got 2 unbound datagridviews, and am providing a push/pull interface where the user can move records from one to the other.
Grid A is read-only and the selectionmode is set to FullRowSelect. Grid B has a read-only DataGridViewTextBoxCell, an editable DataGridViewComboBoxCell, and an editable DataGridViewComboBoxCell.
Because the grids have different columns, but represent the same records, my notion was to create the datagridviews with the same column structure but hiding certain columns, and then just move the DataGridViewRows back and forth between the two, which seams to work.
The problem is that if I go into column 2 or 3 in grid B, I get "Current cell cannot be set to an invisible cell".
I can select cells in column A and I'm fine. It should be noted that on grid B the hidden columns are 4-7.
I know there's a problem when the CurrentCell attribute is set to a hidden cell, but I'm clicking visible cells. I inserted a breakpoint on the CellClick event of the DGV, and again for column 1 that works fine, but on columns 2 and 3 it looks like the error is occuring before the event even gets fired.
Is something in the background setting CurrentCell to one of the hidden cells before firing the event?
I have a datatable and I apply a filter to the defaultview.rowfilter property of that datatable. If I then loop through the rows collection of the datatable, will I only be able to see those rows that the filter applies to, or will it loop through all the rows?

View 2 RepliesI want to read the values of the 8 neighboring cells in an image as shown on the attached file. For example, the green cell is the home cell and it has 8 neighbors (cells from 1 to 8 as seen on the attached image). It will read all 8 neighboring cells then it will move one cell to right (now pixel 4 will be home pixel). Again it will read its neighboring cell values and then it will move to next pixel etc. It will continue till to the end (the last cell or pixel of the image).

The Cell has a string value and during debug I see the value, but it fails anyway.
I am currently working with a datatable and I want to be able to show richtext in a column of the table. First question can this be done? I can force the column to be Type Of richtext box. However, when I try to view/display the table, I get something like..."System.Windows.Forms.RichTextbox, Text: Text That I have added" in the column.
Is there a way that I can get it to show the rich text in a cell of a datacolumn of a datatable?

The following code above does write to column 3 row 1, but if you say .rows(1), i get "there is no row at position 1". So, in summary if I have 7 columns, and I created a second row I want to write to column 3 and the 2nd row.

I've managed to work out how to read EXCEL cells via static values. Ideally I would like my application to check the third column of the EXCEL sheet and if there are no entries on a given row, it should display the coresponding row of colums 1 and 2...for example if (C,3) contains no entry then get values of (A,3) and (B,3)...then mark (C,3) as pending by writing a value to (C,3). View 15 RepliesI have an untyped-Dataset with two related DataTables, and I have a grid bound to the parent DataTable. I used the WriteXMLSchema() method of the parent DataTable in order to save the schema in a xml file. Then I opened the file with the Notepad, deleted two columns from the schema file and saved it. After that, I used the ReadXMLSchema() of this DataTable but -contrary to what I would have thought- the DataTable's structure was unchanged. Using the debugger I noticed that after calling the method the number of columns was the same. Why? How can I make the DataTable's schema to be changed by using a file?

I am reading in a mdb table into a datagrid, and with a sql command I am able to pull up a row, but now I am trying to figure out how to get a particuliar "cell" value into a variable, how do I do that? Lets say I want length 87 how would I assign that to say this:

I have second column as datagridviewTextBoxColumn column in the datagridview, after opening dot net form runtime, in first cell of this column , I am populating �-� character at third position with remaining everything blank. Requirement is cursor should be at first position in this cell.
But now what is happening is, as my second column�s first cell should have cursor after opening form, we are sending tab key from first column to second column runtime with SendKeys.Send("{TAB}") as result cursor is located after �-� which is not requirement , cursor should be at first position in cell.
I've got this working but there's something I don't understand about it. I have a DataGridView and a listbox. I want to position the listbox to be the same location as the topmost visible cell in the column the mouse is in. The end result will be that a context menu will be provided to show the user the distinct values in that column which is why I want the listbox to show over the column that it's displaying data for, just below the header cell. I'm testing right now using the CellMouseEnter event and the following code is working:
