VS 2005 Displaying Cell Contents From Datagrid In Textbox?
Oct 17, 2009
I am trying to display the contents from a datagrid into a textbox, there are two collums that I want to display. I can get one collum to display by using the following code.
I am having a problem displaying a custom array list I have in my code. (BTW. It is 1am where I am. I have been at this for a long time so I apologize if I don't make a lot of sense).I built an arraylist of objects from a custom class. The arraylist contains 2 columnsdimensions. The first is type string, the second decimal.I am now attempting to take my arraylist and display it in my form. I have tried using a listview and iterating through it, but unsure of how to split the two columns up. I have tried something similar to the following I found in another forum:
Code: For i As Integer = 0 To arSearchArray.Count - 1 Dim item As String = CType(arSearchArray(i), String)
What i have: I have five Textboxs (1 to 5) I have a Button I have a Datagrid with five columns (1 to 5)What i want to do: on a button click put whatevers in the 5 textboxs in the specified columns create another row below and so on..
I don't know why its not a easy as:
DataGridView1.CurrentRow.Cells("Column1").Value = TextBox1 Etc, then create another row and repeat.
Is it possible to transfer the contents of a row in a datagrid to a textbox? (Like, when I click row 3, the contents of that row will be transferred to the textboxes) If it is, can anyone guide me to a tutorial? Or is this technique applicable only to the ListView object?
I am reading in a mdb table into a datagrid, and with a sql command I am able to pull up a row, but now I am trying to figure out how to get a particuliar "cell" value into a variable, how do I do that? Lets say I want length 87 how would I assign that to say this:
The problem is when I search through a textbox and nothing matches the search query, I accidentally click the column header which is the lastname then the error "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." pops up.
The highlighted part of my code is the text closed in quotation marks. "If dgvStud.CurrentCell.Selected = Nothing Then" btnEdit.Enabled = False btnDelete.Enabled = False Exit Sub Else btnEdit.Enabled = True btnDelete.Enabled = True End If
This code is under my dgv cell click event. Here is a screenshot for the column header where I found the error. [URL]
I was wondering the best method or code to Sum\total a bunch of cell values of an unbound column in a datagrid to a textbox string. this request is 100% genuine...im not some student trying to get you guys to finish my project, this is purely for educational and personal information for myself. im new to vb.net.
The problem is that if you never enter anything into a cell for a new row then that cell is never validated. This is a problem because I have columns that should not be null. I am doing the check in the row level validation and storing the information about which cells are empty that should not be empty. The row level validation works fine and the row level validation error indicator goes on,(red exclamation mark at the beginning of the row) but I also need a visual indicator on the individual cells that are in error.
I am thinking that setting the HasError property for the cells that are in error should cause them to display n error style (the default red border). Is there a way to this this either from XAML (perferably) or from code?Alternatively I could cause those cells to re-validate when the row editing is finished. Does anyone know how to do this?
I need some suggestions on how to tackle this issue. I am fairly new to using ADO.NET and am running into difficulty populating a dataGrid.Basically here is what I want to accomplish:
a) on form open the dgvLOCATION populates with any records found in the database that match the customer ID that is displayed in a text box (the textbox will already have a value when the form opens)
b) when the value of the Customer ID textbox changes then the dgvLOCATION will change (I am already going to do this with a text changed event...I am just having problems with the query)
I am using VS Studio 2005 and connecting to an Oracle 10g database.I have also created a 'view' for the dataGrid since it will not any binding.Currently the dataGrid will populate will ALL database records on 'form open' if the field value of Customer ID is not null.
I am using the Query Builder wizard and when I enter the following I get an error.Select C_ID, ST_NUM, ST_NAME, CITY, RESIDENCE From CUSTOMER_LOCATION_VIEW Where C_ID = :TXTCID.TEXT
The error tells me that the query could not be parsed.
I have a datagrid that will be accepting data from an external measuring device via the serial port. The grid is also open to editing records as well. Part of the process of making this grid user friendly is to intercept the "enter" key and move to the next cell until there is a value in the cell. This is only for some cells, other cells can be blank. I have worked out how to intercept the "enter" key from another post on this forum. Here is the code:
I decided to rewrite my project. Hit another snag. How do I write the contents from a datagrid to a file and back into the datagrid again later? (Actually, I've done the writing ok - but for the life of me can't get the data back into a blank datagrid.
Here's what I done so far:
Imports System Imports System.IO Imports System.Text
I have searched alot but can only find info on moving entire rows bound between 2 datagrids, but noting on moving single cells. I have some code below that works ok from DGV to textboxes but not from DGV1 to DGV2.
Dim i As Integer i = DataGridView1.CurrentRow.Index Form3.DataGridView1.Item(1, i).Value = DataGridView1.Item(0, i).Value
I am having a hard time displaying the contents of a text file that i read into an array. I read the text of the text file into an array but then i need to display it but i can't seem to get it. I also need to create a criteria to match whatever letter is entered into the textbox and display the contents of the file only beginning with that letter. I know i have to use a substring to read only the first letter but I can't even display the contents of the file from out of the array. Here is what i have so far.
Dim sr As IO.StreamReader = IO.File.OpenText("CRAYONS.TXT") Dim color(50) As String Dim arrynum As Integer
Recently I have browsed the web for ways to display a list of files and folders in a list box. I have successfully been able to display files in drive C and get a nurerical value telling how many files were found. However my efforts have been hampered by three distinct problems. I have some experience using batch files and when using them you can state things like "%WINDER%" to go directly to windows folder. I am wondering if there's anything like that used for navigating. And if so could an example be made of it just for clarity?
My second problem is I cant seem to be able to display files and folders. I have been limited to one or the other. That and I cant figure out how to navigate into them to display there contents. The next problem I have is simply having a user interface so you could type a file path or file extention and have the program navigate to it. Is it is possible to click a file path in a list box and chose to delete it. My second last Q how do I display all files and folders including hidden files? And How can I count all files and folders with there contents to dissplay in a listbox.
I'm working on a site that I've inherited that's built with ASP.Net, which I'm only slightly familiar with. One of the pages allows for a link to a document (word or pdf) that, when clicked on, prompts the user to save or open the file, but does not reveal the true path of the file. This way it prevents users from pasting a url to a file - the link is to an aspx file that checks for a valid session, and then retrieves the file.
Anyway, because there's a lot of legacy code, I need to do this with a bunch of static htm files as well, however these files need to be displayed rather than prompting the user to save them, which is what happens now. I tried changing the content type to application/text, application/html, text/html, etc. and that didn't work, then tried adding a response header of content-disposition inline. When I do that, build, and try linking to the file, I get a couple of runtime exceptions:
[FormatException: Input string was not in a correct format.] Microsoft.VisualBasic.CompilerServices.Conversions.ParseDecimal(String Value, NumberFormatInfo NumberFormat) +206 Microsoft.VisualBasic.CompilerServices.Conversions.ToLong(String Value) +110
[Code].....
Do I have to do something with an htmlwriter object or something? Can't I just have it open a new browser window with the file displaying or does it have to prompt the user if used in this way??
I'm working on a desktop replacement project and was wondering if it possible to have a form which can be docked to the side of the screen that contains all the task tray icons and functions (I would imagine that the functions are held within the task tray/icons themselves as they act as little programs) and would update automatically whenever anything is added.
Also, I'd like it not to have a taskbar entry while running, just having it sit there on the screen until needed.
I have a DataGridView with several columns. One column is a TextBox column named "Status". This column can only show one of three values: 'Final', 'Ready', or 'No Reportable'. I want to have some code that would turn the TextBox cell into a ComboBox cell when the user left-clicks on the cell to allow the user to choose one of these three options. When the user clicks elsewhere or the cell loses focus I want the cell to change back to a TextBox cell.
Here is what I have so far, but the code throws an exception indicated below Plus, I don't think the code would remove the combobox when the cell loses focus.
Exception: "Provided cell does not belong to this DataGridView control."
Private Sub dgvCalculatedResults_MouseDown(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.MouseEventArgs) Handles dgvCalculatedResults.MouseDown Dim ht As DataGridView.HitTestInfo = Me.dgvCalculatedResults.HitTest(e.X, e.Y)
I'm using something call ultragrid in my program. The program works as a mini-record keeping area (Like any datagrid, really). Well, I am adding a history to it and it allows the user to see the last 50 records searched. They get a grid showing the records. This, thus far, works perfectly What I want to do is this: I want to select a record (A cell) in the column 'Dog and have the text of that cell appear in a textbox. This is what I've tried with no success.
HTML Private Sub HistoryTextBox_TextChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles HistoryTextBox.TextChanged If ugHistoryButton.ActiveRow.Cells("Dog").Selected = True Then
[code]....
It just doesn't seem to want to transfer over when I select the cell in the 'Dog' column.
In my datagridview you have to double click it (putting it into editing mode) in order to delete the contents of the cell. Is there a way to program it so i can delete the contents by just pressing the delete button when it is highlighted?
I' working on an Office Supplies website for a college course I'm doing. I have most of the website created, I'm just working on the shopping cart element of it now. When the user goes to check out, I have a Gridview displaying the items the user wishes to buy as follows, it contains 3 columns, REF NBR, Product Name and Quantity, when the user clicks on the 'BUY NOW' button I want to take all the reference numbers from the Gridview and search teh database and deduct the Quantity from the number of items in stock.
I am trying to check if a cell in a tablelayoutpanel contains anything and if it does; clear it.I tried tablelayoutpanel.removeat(1) but I need to check if there is actually anything in there, or else it throws an error.
In my vb.net application I call the main page of WebHelp using
System.Diagnostics.Process.Start(
[URL]
The web page displays just fine, but the Table of Contents, Index tab and Search tab do not display at all.How do I get them to show when calling help from vb.net?
I need some help displaying the contents of a cell in excel into a combo box. I've been able to display if the contents of excel are numbers but can't seem to figure out how to display text.
I have a vb .net program that exports information to certain fields of an excel workbook using named ranges. One of the named ranges is a notes section that gets cut off (not visible nor gets printed) if it extends beyond a page break. I am looking for a way to dynamically create new named ranges to accommodate all of the notes' text.[code]....
I am trying to print the contents of a cell in a table. I am using ITestDataTable to get the contents of the cell. How to print the contents of the cell? When I use Msgbox, I am getting an error :I am using the below code for getting data from the html table:
Dim ordertable As Vp.ITestDataTable ordertable = Table_HtmlTable_0.GetTestData("contents") Dim i As Integer Dim j As Integer
I am using the DataGridView in Visual Basic 2008 Express with an Access 2000 database.
What I'm trying to do is allow the user to click on the Row Header and capture the contents of the 4 cells in the row to 4 dfined variables. I know that I can capture each cell individually by using the CellContentClick event but this would require the user to click 4 times rather then just once.
