I am using the DataGridView in Visual Basic 2008 Express with an Access 2000 database.
What I'm trying to do is allow the user to click on the Row Header and capture the contents of the 4 cells in the row to 4 dfined variables. I know that I can capture each cell individually by using the CellContentClick event but this would require the user to click 4 times rather then just once.
In my datagridview you have to double click it (putting it into editing mode) in order to delete the contents of the cell. Is there a way to program it so i can delete the contents by just pressing the delete button when it is highlighted?

I have a DGV I am working on, and I have many columns.
For example I have Columns colIsDayOff (Checkbox), colStartTime(Time), colEndTime(Time)
What I need to do is if when my DGV loads the data if colIsDayOff is checked, then make the value of the Start and End time columns blank, invisible, or something.
I am trying to display a custom control in a datagridview cell so that I can show nicely formatted information.
I am quite comfortable with the use of datagridview control accepting a list of objects as its datasource. I am also comfortable with populating the cell contents in the cellformatting event.
So I am planning to, instead of using a normal textbox control, button control and linkedtext control in datagridview cell, display my own custom control which is good one for displaying some custom data like, name, address, telephone, photo and others. It would be a nice improvement in my application.
Im working with a DataGridView with an imported CSV file where the values are delimited with (,).. The grid works perfectly fine. My ultimate goal is to hide the grid out of view from the user and access the data in the grid based on the coordinates of the grid specified i.e (The cell in column 5, row 6 contains the value "Taco") and I want to save that value to a variable...Eventually I want to loop through all the values of a column and save them to individual variables to be later used. Note: 17 in the for loop is the amount of columns in the data i provided.. that number will never change.
I have tried many methods to save my datagridview contents to a file but with no luck does anybody have a good method for xml to datagridview, datagridview to Xml,or any other methods to read/write a datagridview.

But I don't want to launch the Excel itself when I save the contents? Because Excel may not exist n the clients' machines. This means I just want to "save" not "export".

At first I can insert data into the cells and save it... but when I try to edit the same cell with data already saved in it I get this error...

I'm using a DGV and i'm looking for the best way to update the database whenever a new row is created OR whenever any datagrid view cell changes.
The following code works fine for new rows and my question is how can i adapt it to include ANY other changed cells of any other rows being or not new rows.

I have a form with multiple datagridviews. On save the entire dataset will be serialized to a strongly typed property bound to a sql varbinary(max) Works fine. Of course the current "dirty" cell will not be saved as mentioned here :

My problem is the user could be coming from any one of 20 datagridviews when they click SAVE. Is there any way, short of checking for a dirty cell in each datagridview to commit any dirty cell before the save ( clicking another textbox control before the save does the trick but calling the focus() of that textbox prior to the save does not ) I was thinking perhaps catching the event of leaving the grid but it seems the base problem is clicking a button (for reasons I think I understand) does not fire lostfocus events for the current control and it doesn't seem the click handler args knows what the last current selected control is.

I have a DataGridView with several columns. One column is a TextBox column named "Status". This column can only show one of three values: 'Final', 'Ready', or 'No Reportable'. I want to have some code that would turn the TextBox cell into a ComboBox cell when the user left-clicks on the cell to allow the user to choose one of these three options. When the user clicks elsewhere or the cell loses focus I want the cell to change back to a TextBox cell.
Here is what I have so far, but the code throws an exception indicated below Plus, I don't think the code would remove the combobox when the cell loses focus.

I' working on an Office Supplies website for a college course I'm doing. I have most of the website created, I'm just working on the shopping cart element of it now.When the user goes to check out, I have a Gridview displaying the items the user wishes to buy as follows, it contains 3 columns, REF NBR, Product Name and Quantity, when the user clicks on the 'BUY NOW' button I want to take all the reference numbers from the Gridview and search teh database and deduct the Quantity from the number of items in stock.

I am writing a VBA code for testing different combination of 24 variables and recording a result which corresponds to each combination of 24 variables. so I have an equation with 24 variables and one result. In excel I have one column which contains the 24 variables and the column next to it contains a figure which shows the result. what I need to do is to write loops to change the 24 variables between 1,2, and 3 and then record the result of the equation for each combination of 24 variables. I have written the loops (24 loops) and can record the result for each combination, what I have to do at this stage is to record the combinations which relates to each result.
As there is only one result for each combination of 24 variables I was wondering whether I can tag each variable (in each cell) in a way that in the final sheet in the cell next to the result cell I can write for example 111123123111233311121232. This means that after each loop I am taking the values for each variable in 24 cells and put them all together in one cell in the final sheet. These variables are changing in each loop, the label should change as well after each loop so after the completion of the code I can find out which combination relates to which result. I have tried to define an array or matrix but I couldn't fix the problem. This is the input sheet (the code changes the values in the cells in A column after each operation)

I have a Datagridview called DgvReturns. which contains two fields,
1) Yes - checkbox (boolean)and
2) Received Date - textbox (DateTime)..
What I want to do at run time is that when a user Checks the Yes checkbox Received Date is populated with the current Datetime.
In cellEndEdit event I need current cell editedFormatedvalue ( well it is done) now my question is can we get the old value of the cell in this event or have to handle some other event for this means let I have a cell in which current value is abc and when I edit it it become def now I want to get both the values in cell end edit event ( or any else ) but finally I have to perform task on cellendedit

My question is that if cell validation fails for 3rd column of the datagridview then the focus should move from 3rd column to 1st column of the datagridview. How can i do this?
I have tried datagridview.column(0).selected = true, when validation for 3rd column fails, but this is not working. Focus still moves to the next cell. I can stop the focus to the current cell with e.cancel=true but i want it to move to the very first cell of the datagridview.

An integral part of the program that i'm working on is a DataGrid which I am filling from three different queries, based on the user's input. The Grid properties are coded with specific requirements for each of the queries. I have two simple (hopefully) problems.
1) There is no scroll bar on the grid and I can't find a property or event that will allow me to add the Vertical Scroll Bar. How do I do that.
2) The grids contain only four columns each. I want the user to be able to click on a cell and populate four string variables.
