Use A Custom Control For Editing The Contents Of A Cell In A DataGridView

I am trying to display a custom control in a datagridview cell so that I can show nicely formatted information.
I am quite comfortable with the use of datagridview control accepting a list of objects as its datasource. I am also comfortable with populating the cell contents in the cellformatting event.
So I am planning to, instead of using a normal textbox control, button control and linkedtext control in datagridview cell, display my own custom control which is good one for displaying some custom data like, name, address, telephone, photo and others. It would be a nice improvement in my application.

I have added a custom Control to my project, but every time I edit it and rebuild the form that I use the custom control in adds the project name in front of the control and won't compile. i.e. Project name = MyProject, Custom Control name = MyControl. When I rebuild the project after editing my control I get an error, MyProject.MyControl doesn't exist. If I remove the MyProject from the line it compiles and runs fine until next time I edit the custom control.
I can't figure out what I would be doing wrong to cause this, or why it is putting the project name in front of the control, but then not accepting it. I am also struggling figuring out how to change the back color on an individual cell in an Datagridview Combo Box. The style.backcolor property of the cell doesn't seem to do anything.

I am using vb2005 with ms access database.I have a datagridview to show the reports for users.One of my datagridview coloumn is to be allowed for change the string value. Currently editing is disabled.Which is the best method to change the value of that particular cell and updating the same with database.

I have a WinForms DataGridView control on a form. There are two fields in this DataGridControl:
Email Address
Resolved Email Address (calculated based on the input in Email Address)
After the user inputs or changes a value in Email Address, I want the value in Resolved Email Address to update based on a separate method. What event should I tie in to so that that the Resolved Email Address cell is updated after the Email Address cell is updated?I'm not sure where to put the event because the user could do a number of things after adding/changing a value: tab to the next cell, click cancel on the form, click ok on the form, etc.

I have a DataGridView bound to a DataTable that has 1+16 columns defined as Integer.The default cell style is hexadecimal 2 digits (.Format="X2").When entering in cell editing I would like to provide to the user, the possibility to write the value in decimal or hexdacimal.Hexadecimal could be written like, for example, 0x00, 0X01, x02, XFF

I am adding an undo feature for a DataGridView using the Command Design Pattern. To create the EditCommand, I have to know what was the previous value of the cell, so I can re-enter it in case the user hits undo. I'm doing it using the CellBeginEdit and CellEndEdit events. With the CellBeginEdit, I save the value of the cell in a private variable and at the CellEndEdit function, I use the saved value to create the EditCommand. It's working fine, but I wonder if there is a more saner way to do it. Maybe a event that holds together the previous and the new cell value. Bonus points if I could actually prevent the DataGridView from updating itself and let the EditCommand do it.

I am trying to trigger a tool tip when a user enters a cell in a DataGridView and starts editing it. The idea being that I want the user to know to hit the Return key after they are finished typing in a string in the cell. I only want the tool tip to show when the user is editing a cell in columindex 1.

I came across this great article on creating a custom datagridview column which creates a graph-like effect in the cells of a custom datagridview column:[URL]..Does anyone know how you would edit this to format the number in the cell as a percentage? And does anyone know how you would set this up to take 0 values which do not create any graph effects at all.I have been trying to do this but keep getting errors.

In my datagridview you have to double click it (putting it into editing mode) in order to delete the contents of the cell. Is there a way to program it so i can delete the contents by just pressing the delete button when it is highlighted?

What i have: I have five Textboxs (1 to 5) I have a Button I have a Datagrid with five columns (1 to 5)What i want to do: on a button click put whatevers in the 5 textboxs in the specified columns create another row below and so on..
I don't know why its not a easy as:

Etc, then create another row and repeat.

I am using the DataGridView in Visual Basic 2008 Express with an Access 2000 database.
What I'm trying to do is allow the user to click on the Row Header and capture the contents of the 4 cells in the row to 4 dfined variables. I know that I can capture each cell individually by using the CellContentClick event but this would require the user to click 4 times rather then just once.

clearing cell contents within a DataGridView?I have a column with a list of names and would like to be able to make the whole column blank.I can currently achieve this (not the greatest) by clicking on individual cells and doing this ..

But rather than doing this I would like to be able to do every cell in the column, all at once. I'll put the code behind a button, so it can all be achieved by a single click.

For example I have Columns colIsDayOff (Checkbox), colStartTime(Time), colEndTime(Time)
What I need to do is if when my DGV loads the data if colIsDayOff is checked, then make the value of the Start and End time columns blank, invisible, or something.

When using the Property Grid and exposing a color property from an object you get this kind of interface for color selection: There are tabs for System and Web, those are fine, but the Custom tab (shown) which seems to be a subset of the standard windows color picker, seems to be hobbled. I'm trying to show a custom contextmenustrip on my datagridview and it works fine except when the cell is being being edited. Then it shows the default windows contextmenustrip with copy/cut/..Is there a way to overwrite the DataGridViewTextBoxCell contextmenustrip or disable it? The solution from Disable DataGridView System ContextMenu does'nt work for me.

Well, the title pretty much says it all. I have a user control that is a a collection of six label controls. three are used as visual color indicators, and the other three are used as the corresponding value for each color indicator. (It's sort of like a legend key on a chart or map.) I have created a custom class to store the three values, and the associated methods to interact with the values. (I can probably use a structure instead of a class, but right now, I don't want to discuss that.) My problem, is that I want to show my user control inside a cell of a DataGridView. I've looked at the examples that create a MaskedTextBox DataGridViewCell, but I can't seem to get it to work. Here is what I have:

I've been trying to customise a datagridview but no luck so far, thing is, i want some of the cells to not have the same grid colour and width as all the rest of the grid. i have a DataGridView responsible for showing a bit of data and two of my columns allow for user input using comboboxes.The trouble is that one column only needs to show preset values in it's list, but the other needs to both show the presets and allow for the user to enter in their own values.i accomplish this by showing the editing control for the combobox with this bit of code:

I have created a custom column type for a datagridview. I have created a class for the datagridviewcolumn and a class for the datagridviewcell. Within the datagridcell class I am using the following code for the font.Dim fnt As Font = parent.InheritedStyle.Font How do I change this so that I have control over the font color for that cell? In DGV, if the contents of the cell is truncated, the DGV shows ellipses (three dots) (...); but as the font is set to a Gujarati font, it displays a Gujarati alphabet "ઈઈઈ" instead of "..." because the Gujarati character "ઈ" is coded with the English "." (dot) character.In Gujarati font, "." can be generated with the English character "P".So, How can I change the ellipses to English "P" character? I have a datagrid control on my form that receives data from a device on the COM port. I strip out the data I need and put it into the currently selected cell. When I load the grid, I find the first empty cell and set the focus so each load presents the user with an empty cell to start receiving data. Once I get the measurement, I need to move to the next cell down (like hitting enter in the grid). This will allow the user to do measurements with the external device without having to move to the next cell.

I am trying to move from the old ADO to the new ADO .NET . However , no matter how many tutorials I read over the internet , I still can't find a way to do something which , as I believe , has to be very simple I tried to mimic the way the graphic control did but I am missing some things ... I noticed that , in the graphic way , the wizard created 4 controls :- a DataGridView control- a DataSet control- a BindingSource control- a TableAdapter controlI recreated all of them and filled their correspondent properties , but yet I can't make it work . I think what I am missing is the connection itself . I looked on the internet and I think a connection can be made and opened like this :

I followed an example to add a custom control (multicolumnCombobox) to my datagridview.[code]Ok, this is fine and dandy, for it adds the custom control to column 2 and row X of that loop.... Now, when I actually use the control for lets say row 0, how do I get the row 0 cell 2 value to be the same as the custom control??I have no way to communicate between the custom control and the datagridview cell.
