I was wondering the best method or code to Sum\total a bunch of cell values of an unbound column in a datagrid to a textbox string. this request is 100% genuine...im not some student trying to get you guys to finish my project, this is purely for educational and personal information for myself. im new to vb.net.

I am using vb.net and WPF. In a wpf window I am showing a datagrid in the load event while in the load event itself, I need to count grand total amount from a single datagrid column and add it to a textbox in same page .
My page looks like this:
My DataGrid:
Item Quantity Total
Shirt 2 200
Pant 1 500
Tie - -
Belt 2 100
My Textbox ---> Grand Total amount : - 800
How do I do that if I am counting from a ((Total Column )) DTG
And adding it and showing it in my (( GRAND TOTAL AMOUNT)) TEXTBOX

I have a DataGridView bound to a binding source. I have also, however, added an unbound column in which I plan on putting numbers calculated from the bound columns. The problem is, Any time I edit my unbound column (on any row), the value doesn't stay. If I programmatically edit the values, they never show up. If I type in the cell, then upon hitting enter or clicking outside of the cell, whatever I typed disappears.

In the Gridview's RowDataBound event, I have tried StrConv(e.Row.Cells(3).Text, VbStrConv.ProperCase) but this doesn't work. I have also tried StrConv(emp.Name, VbStrConv.ProperCase) in the LiNQ to Entities query but still the Name values returned are to converted to Lower-case.

I have a table in a data grid the columns are bound to the columns...
SQFT QTY WIDTH LENGTH
i also have added into the datagrid an unbound column called Yeild%.what i'm trying to do is the following formula
SQFT / (QTY * (width * length / 144) and have the result return the answer in the unbound yield column for that row represented as a percentage
So if SQFT = 178 QTY = 2 Width = 144 Length = 102 answer would be 0.87 (rounded)
so this would be 87%

Well, I am adding a history to it and it allows the user to see the last 50 records searched. They get a grid showing the records. This, thus far, works perfectly What I want to do is this: I want to select a record (A cell) in the column 'Dog and have the text of that cell appear in a textbox. I have a database and a dataset as the image shows in the link, how would i add the values of the colums "amount1" and "amount2" for every row and entry as the user make entries to be automatically displayed in the "total" column. Meaning that every time values are entered in those amount columns, they will be added and the total displayed in the "Total" column.

The problem is when I search through a textbox and nothing matches the search query, I accidentally click the column header which is the lastname then the error "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." pops up.
The highlighted part of my code is the text closed in quotation marks.

Am using the Entity Framework and Columns Completed and Taken are of bit Datatype. When the query results are displayed in the datagridview, these bit columns are returned as of ColumnType Textbox - so i get a Datagridview textbox column with true or false string values.
I want to display Completed and Taken as Checkbox columns (either ticked for True or un-ticked for false) but ofcourse i can't do this in EditColumn dialogue because the Datagridview is unbound.

View 4 RepliesI am using VB 2010 with an Access 2010 database. The Access table is the data source for a DataGridView created by dragging the table from the DataSet onto the form. The table has 3 columns - First, Last and DOB (Date of Birth). I want to have a column in each row to show the person's age. I added an unbound cell in the DataGridView called Age, but cannot figure out how to fill the cell with the information I need. I tried using the DataName property, but that will only allow me to enter columns already in the grid. I think what I need to do is fill this cell (Age) by a value computed from DateDiff(DateInterval.Year, DOB, Now), but I cannot figure out how to do so.

I am using a list<of T> as a data source for a datagridview and would like to handle the draw event of the datagridview to evaluate the string length of the column cell. If larger than a particular number then I would just do something like
