I am using a list<of T> as a data source for a datagridview and would like to handle the draw event of the datagridview to evaluate the string length of the column cell. If larger than a particular number then I would just do something like
cell.value = string.substring(0,(whatever number I need it to be)).

I'm displaying the data from the database via DataGridView with LINQ. In order to display the DGV I have this code:

I was thinking to add another column named "Symbol" and based on the "Status" column to format the cells of the "Symbol" column to display an image.
I edited the DGV, and add a new image column.
I created a directory in my solution called "references" where I put all the .bmp files
I don't know how to do this. My first thought was to put an expression in the DataTable Properties, but I didn't manage to make that work. Another way is to format the cells in the "Symbol" column, and again I don't know how to do that. I tried with "Select Case ... Case ... End Select" with no success.
LE: Should I Insert the .bmp files into SQL database (varbinary(MAX)) If yes, how?
I need to display the column header and cell value of the clicked cell in the data grid. I'm just wondering if it's possible to display a string in a integer column in a DataGridView? The reason I'm asking is that I have a column wich displays the place for each runner (it's a sports application). And if the runner is disqualified, it will display "DSQ" instead of the place.

I am making a program which remembers my last selected row in a data table. I have done this by adding a column with a CheckBox, upon CellClick the CheckBox is checked, and upon ellLeave it is unchecked and the new cell is checked, after every action a Update command is run. There will never be more than one row with a checked cell in the DataGridView,however, the data table is in a relationship with other tables, so there may be more checked cells in the data table itself. My problem now is selecting the row with that cell when I open the program and when changing between other data tables and back again.All solutions I found on selecting a specific cell in a DataGridView are referring to index numbers, and in my case I need it to find a data value in a column, I do not know the specific row, only that one row contains the value of True while everything else is False.

There is one column that is a string which contains either "YES" or "NO".When I run and display the DataGridView it displays perfectly. For the User's benefiy, if the field contains "NO" I want to put some emphasis on it by changing the fore color and back coler of the entire row. As I have no idea on how to retrieve access data at the specific location in the table, so I wrote VBA code t export the entire access database to a datagridview which is located in the form1. There's a column of datagridview contain complete address information of a image. I'm thinking a way to link image source (of form 2 or xaml file) to the the column so that the image will be displayed. is there any code to get cell value at the specific location in the table? In excel VBA, sheets("Sheetname").Cells(rownumber, columnnumber).value is used to get the cell value, but how about code for this case?

i am developing an application in VB.net implies some datagridview operations. the appl contains one DGVW with columns fixed programatically, one such column is Datagridviewcheckbox column. the datasource for dgvw is bounded by a datatable. the user needs to enter the values in the GUI.
supposing the user enters the 2x2 matrix values, and the user checked the checkbox last cell in the dgvw. The problem - the last cell value is not updating inside. if ii debug through code, the "cell(2,2).value" reurns null value whereas the rest of them returns the value what i entered.
if i clicked the mouse some where in the dgvw after entering the last cell value, then it is returning the exact value as expected.

If I click the HEADER (though the checkbox is invisible, still I can click the header) again, all the cells in the column below are unchecked and the header checkbox becomes visible and unchecked. Everything is happening as expected except the visibility of the header checkbox. Why is it so?

I've got this working but there's something I don't understand about it. I have a DataGridView and a listbox. I want to position the listbox to be the same location as the topmost visible cell in the column the mouse is in. The end result will be that a context menu will be provided to show the user the distinct values in that column which is why I want the listbox to show over the column that it's displaying data for, just below the header cell. I'm testing right now using the CellMouseEnter event and the following code is working:

I am using vb.net. I have following weird problems:If I comment DGVCusClient.Rows.Add(), the cell in ("column1",0) does not display data. But in debug, I can see that the first cell has data assigned.If I do not comment DGVCusClient.Rows.Add(), the cell in ("column1",0) displays its data correctly. However, it adds the row on the top for the first time. Except for the first row, it adds rows to the bottom as usual.

I have a xml file with three columns (A, B, C). I want to take column name from a text box - i.e (column A from text box) and display all the contents of that column in a DGV.
