With DataAdapter i passed a query and this is working....
Dim strSQL1 As String = "SELECT tbl_Items.GroupName, tbl_Items.ItemName, tbl_quantity.Quantity, tbl_quantity.QtyDate FROM (tbl_Items INNER JOIN tbl_quantity ON tbl_Items.ItemID = tbl_quantity.ItemID)WHERE(tbl_quantity.QtyDate = #12/29/2009#)"

This is my code for update, but not working,UPDATE STATEMENT WRONG?
I have an sqlserver 2000 database and i am able to add records and read from it but i cant modify existing records. My test table just hav user_id,Name, , Phone and State for columns.
updateSql = "UPDATE student " & _
"SET name = '" & Me.TextBox2.Text & "' " & _
"WHERE User_id = '" + Me.TextBox1.Text + "'"
cmd = New SqlCommand(updateSql, cn)
cmd.ExecuteNonQuery()
I cant get my update command to actually do anything.
Im having a very strange problem.. I just copied the source code from one working application to this new application. It was working fine over there but not over here in new application. Neither it was showing any error nor updating the data. Below is the source code (method) that im using ..
public static void AppendViolations(string dsPath, DataTable dtSource, string PartitionID)
{
string ConnectionString = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Persist Security Info=False;Data Source=" + dsPath;
string SqlStatement = "select * from IncaViolations";

I am trying to update my DGV with the following code. i have generated SQL update command in the tableadapter. but still the changes are not affecting the DB.

As you may have seen in my other post, I have to switch over an all text SQL statement based database interaction program to using parameterized queries instead.I remember doing it this way in college but I don't seem to be able to recall one part of it. The program I wrote back then and some code samples here both point to doing the code as I did so far:
m_strSQL = "UPDATE [OWNER DATA] SET [FIRST NAME] = @strFName"
m_strSQL &= ",[LAST NAME] = @strLName"
Dim upCMD As New OleDb.OleDbCommand(m_strSQL, m_Connection)
upCMD.Parameters.Add("@strFName", OleDb.OleDbType.Char, 30, "[First Name]")
[Code]...
it ran the SQL statement and that's that. Can I just do that with a parameterized query too without using the adapter.update()? And for bonus points, why the heck did I use that command in my old college program cuz I sure don't know?
I am creating a program in vb.net and I am wanting to update a column of my Access Datbase on a button click.
my column I want to update is called S_Card.
I need to update a column by adding a value in Access:
update table1 set column1 = column1+value
In the above, if column1 is null, then the table is not updated.
I need a function like in SQL Server:
update table1 set column1 = isnull(column1,0) + value
For some reason every time I execute the code, it gives me the error "No value given for one or more required parameters" and it points to the ExecuteNonQuery. Below is the relevant code I have.
Public Function sqlUpdate(ByVal varBalance As Double, ByVal varWithdrawlAmount As Double) As Double Dim dbCon As New OleDb.OleDbConnection dbCon.ConnectionString = "PROVIDER=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source = dbATM.mdb" Dim query As String Dim cmdUpdate As New OleDb.OleDbCommand dbCon.Open() varBalance = varBalance -

i have to update the values in my database some of them are integer, some string and some date (as you can infer from the formatting)
i am using the following query:
UPDATE PatientProfile SET HospitalRegNo=" + hregno + ", PatientName='" + pname + "', PatientAge=" + page + ", PatientSex='" + psex + "', Address='" + add + "', ContactNo='" + cno + "', AdmitDate=#" + adat + "#, OperDate=#" + odat + "#, DischargeDate=#" + ddat + "# WHERE PatientNo=" + pno + ""
but its not working... i think there's a problem in formatting the date type variables
i have this code that should update my data base but i kep gething an error saying: its not possible so change or delete the regists Because the table 'MembrosCompasso' has relating records

I am trying to do simple insert, update, delete, select statements within VB .NET to access a MS Access database. I have tried all kinds of solutions offered on the web and while the code seems to work, no rows are inserted. Also, I have tried, unsuccessfully, to use the Try/Catch to see if there's an error with no success. I have attached the versions of VB .Net and MS Access I am using: Here's the code:

I am using Visual Basic 2005 and am trying to get my database in Access 2003 to connect with it. I have mannaged to connect my databse, but I don't know how or what commands are needed to load my database.
View 1 RepliesI have this code to retrieve a record to fill out a tooltip when the user's mouse enters a cell of a datagridview.
Dim dacmt As OleDb.OleDbDataAdapter
Dim con As OleDbConnection
Dim sql As String
[Code]....
This takes way too long for the tooltip to display. So, I created a query in the Access database that takes a parameter of the first field for the record you want.
How do I connect to just the query and send the parameter to it?
I am thinking this might be a quicker way to get the data for the tooltip. But then again, maybe not.
I would like to update some fields in access using visual basic(2005).
I established the connection with the DB(access 2000) and when I run the program I edit the fields on DataGridView.
Then I click on the update button and when I access again my DB I don't see any changes... :s
Code from my updateButton:
Me.TableTableAdapter.Update(Me.TestDataSet1.table)
I dont have any problem with the conection to the DB and when I run the program I see all the fields from the DB(it has 2 fields).

View 18 RepliesI am trying to find customers name that starts with "S" in my access database. If i run the following query in access its working fine. Select Lastname from employees where Firstname Like '*S*';. it displays two records which is right. if I use it in access it..its not working. Any idea why? All other queries are working in VB. like if I use Firstname equals "Sam" but it doesn't work when I use Firstname Like '*S*'
View 3 RepliesI want to know is there any functions or methods that i can use to batch update the data to MS access from vb.net 2005?Here is my case:I have around 70 records to update back to MS Access.Currently I only know update row by row. So, it means i need to loop through all rows. (I also have where ...=... and ...=... and ...=... in update command.)Its not a good idea because if some where went wrong during updating.The previous updated data will be in DB but the rest will not. So, data will not correct and up-to-date.So, I want to use Batch processing. If something go wrong, all will not update. If updating is OK, then all will be in DB.

View 2 RepliesI am connecting to an Access database and using a parameter query with the LIKE operator to return all rows that match query. The string to search for is taken from a Textbox
sql =
"Select * FROM Allview WHERE Info Like" &
"*" &
CStr(TextBox1.Text) &
"*"
The query does not return any data in vb, but when run from access with same string, there is data returned.The connection to the database is done correctly, as I am able to return data with various other queries.

I am trying to run a query an Access db from VB. The general query which I want to run is
SELECT * FROM Patient WHERE Patient.PatientID = ?
or SELECT * FROM Patient WHERE Patient.PatientLname = ?
I tried using an input box which captured the user input and pass that variable to the query, but that failed. Then I read about writing a function and using that, however, I keep getting an error which says Function not defined, but when stepping through the code, it seems to work. Here is my function: [Code]
