View 18 RepliesI want to know is there any functions or methods that i can use to batch update the data to MS access from vb.net 2005?Here is my case:I have around 70 records to update back to MS Access.Currently I only know update row by row. So, it means i need to loop through all rows. (I also have where ...=... and ...=... and ...=... in update command.)Its not a good idea because if some where went wrong during updating.The previous updated data will be in DB but the rest will not. So, data will not correct and up-to-date.So, I want to use Batch processing. If something go wrong, all will not update. If updating is OK, then all will be in DB.

View 4 RepliesI'm developing a app in VB 2005 to connect to a Access 2003/2007 DB, I manage to connect to it but I can't write to it, do I have to enable something to make it work?
View 2 RepliesI am using Visual Basic 2005 and am trying to get my database in Access 2003 to connect with it. I have mannaged to connect my databse, but I don't know how or what commands are needed to load my database.
View 1 RepliesAlthough a few people around here have said that Dates are not a huge deal that they're simply data, I always seem to get stuck on them, and my current issue is no exception. I am trying to save/retrieve data between my Access 2003 data and my VB2005 form. I have tried any number of combinations (even the forbidden Value.ToString, and having the Data Type in Access as string, and although it worked fine for saving the data, it doesn't work for loading it back into the form.). Here's my code for saving the data to the database:

I have a program in VB.NET 2005. At some point I have to open an Access2003-Application for getting data in it. I do that by pretending my program is a human user and let it do all the work in Access as a human user would do. Filling Fields, pressing buttons etc. I use the Primary Interop Assemblies for that. So far so good. That code is in use for over half a year now. In the last week I got Office 2007 installed on my machine. Of course I tested the installed version of my program if everthing still works. Every test was succesfull. But if I do the same tests in Visual Studio it always crashes.
All I get is this Errormessage: {"Das COM-Objekt des Typs "Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access.FormClass" kann nicht in den Schnittstellentyp "Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access._Form3" umgewandelt werden. Dieser Vorgang konnte nicht durchgefhrt werden, da der QueryInterface-Aufruf an die COM-Komponente fr die Schnittstelle mit der IID "{66B22FB4-F70E-4F03-A00A-F76E9ADBBF10}" aufgrund des folgenden Fehlers nicht durchgefhrt werden konnte: Schnittstelle nicht untersttzt (Ausnahme von HRESULT: 0x80004002 (E_NOINTERFACE))."}
For all who can't read german:
"Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access.FormClass" can't be converted in to "Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access._Form3" ... Interface is not supported.
Code I use:
Dim access As Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access.Application = Nothing
.
.
.
access = New Microsoft.Office.Interop.Access.Application()
[CODE]...
The Error occurs when I try to access any property of "access.Forms("frmTest")"

Is there any method to do batch update winForm in VB 2010
Using Microsoft Access2007 as database, VB 2010 WinForm (DataGridview + Textbox)
There are a lot of record need to be Updated, It is very efficient if that data is just going through Batch Update, meaning just one click will update all the data rather than click one by one.
Any Demo or code showing how to do this Batch Update (VB.net).
I am trying to update a table across "non" linked SQL servers using:C# or VB.net and ADO.net sqlDataAdapter.
I need to use DataTables and sqlDataAdapter.Very Important I need to use BatchUpdate and avoid looping through the DataTable
The table designs in Server 1 differ from table design in Server 2.
Source Table
Server 1. Table 1
ID INT[code]....how to update table 2 on server 2 using a sqlDataAdapter, or alternative batch method?
I am using VB.Net 2008 and ADO.Net to do a Batch Update to our Oracle database. The updates are working, but there is a trigger on the table before the row is updated to enforce a member's termination termination date. So if I was trying to set the termination date (via the batch update) to 31-Jan-2010 but the member had a claim that was processed on 2-Feb-2010 the trigger would force the termination date to be 2-Feb-2010. However, the trigger is NOT executing when the batch update runs?Is there any Oracle DB Admin option that would disable Triggers on Batch Update?
View 2 RepliesI have multiple copies of Access dbs running varous projects on diverse workstation all over the country. Some new additions to the team have only Access 2007. Is there a way that I can use both versions without having to re-do any VBA, macros, scripts, etc.?

View 6 RepliesI have taken over support of a VB .Net application that makes use of an Access database. Now I discover that the developer who wrote this application did not create any unique indexes on the primary key columns for the tables in the database. So none of the primary key fields are actually flagged as being primary keys in access and so no duplicate checking is being performed by Access. Furthermore, the primary key columns are not being auto-incremented with an AutoNumber type in Access, rather the developer has used queries like this to insert rows into the tables:
INSERT INTO Users (pkid, FirstName, Surname, City)SELECT iif(isnull(max(pkid)),0,max(pkid))+1, [@strFirstName], [@strSurname], [@strCity], FROM Users;This application is generally run as a networked application with up to 40 people using the application simultaneously, and combined with design issues already mentioned, this has resulted in serious concurrency issues with several users being assigned the same primary key value. This == BIGNow I need to sort this out (guess what I will be doing this weekend!! Great.). I have thought about maybe using a mutex around the code that calls the Access insert queries; not the neatest of solutions, but it would be the quickest. Ultimately though, I would like to have the database corrected and have proper primary key values in place. But the application is currently running at about 15 different sites, so I need to do some sort of batch update of the database.
I'd like to make a program module that exports all records from three tables in a database into a file at once(I means not adding row by row, maybe like BULK). how to code for exporting and importing?
View 7 RepliesIn vb.net, when writting an application, I want to access a batch file that has been added to the project. My question is how to I find the relative path of this file to access it? I have used relative path on the ASP.NET side, but not on the application side. The properties that I am finding regarding the current directory and running directory and the likes are all for the bin directory its in. While I can use the CurrentDirectory() property and go up two parents (....) in the development environment, when I install the application, the structure is not the same. As in the output is in a single folder, not tiered.
Example. c:projectsMyAppindebugMyApp.exe is the running directory
My file I want to access is at c:projectsMyAppvalidate.bat
so "c:projectsMyApp" is what I am trying to capture.

View 2 Repliesi have done some research on converting an existing app to VB.NET, but have not found what I am looking for.
My existing app is currently created in Access 2003 VBA using access forms, modules, tables queries etc., and would like to convert all of it to VB.NET.
What would be the best method or tools to use to accomplish this? The VB.NET app would be developed from VisualStudio 2005..
i have a problem in connecting in access 2003
here is my code

I'm doing database development in Access 2003, and the Visual Basic portion of it is acting up. It seems to be "refreshing" itself constantly. Two very frustrating problems are occurring because of this: 1) Intellisense for properties and such pops up but immediately disappears and turns red and 2) it's automatically checking the syntax of lines before I can finish typing them.
The problem seems to be intermittant. Some forms in the database operate fine while others immediately turn the line red two seconds after I start typing. I am having this problem on both of the computers that I use on a regular basis.
i have a database in access 2003 and i submit a query to a specific table. The fields of this specific table (STOCK_PRICES1) :
DATE --> type date (d:M:yyyy)
CODE --> type text
OPEN --> type single
HIGH --> type single
LOW --> type single
[Code]...
i receive an error. Why? Conflicts between access 2003 and vb.net 2010? SQL Server is better?And another question. My Regional settings regarding the date is d/M/yyyy but in my vb.net example, the @date1, @date2 parameters accept M/d/yyyy dates. Is there a way to define into the parameters the d/M/yyyy specification?
The limit of an access database. Because I only know of manipulating access 2003 database with vb.net. And were going to make an information system for a small hospital for our project. Is ms access still usable for a hospital with over 2000 patients per year? some database if the ms access that I'm using no longer fits for our project.

View 3 RepliesI have an application that basicly collects a lot of information on a form, with 5 seperate tabs, prior to outputting this to a text file. Currently the forms are not dynamic in that they contain all the possible texboxes and just hide or show them depending upon choices made. The data is gathered by a function that creates an array of texboxes requiring processing, array being created would seem to correspond to a single line that is being output. The array is moved through item by item and the data gathered then output as a line in the text file. This is repeated for the 80 odd lines. Now a couple of questions, is this the best way to do this?
