VS 2005 A Motion Detection System?

my advance project for the final semester of software engineering is an intruder detection system which is based on motion detection. I'm using a web camera in order to capture the images sequently and let them to process for further checking to see the difference.
first of all i want to know, is this possible in vb.net (image processing)? if it is possible, please give me some ideas about this to start.i have a brief imagination about the structure but i'm not sure about the success

i am developing a system will be able to detect motion. up to now i am able to stream the video that is connected to my PC to VB.NET. Now i want to switch between the webcam if there is more than one webcam connected to the system. For example, the user of the system will be able to chose any webcam that is connected to the system. I am able to detect all the webcam and display those devices into a ListView. But i don't know how to change the steaming video when the user select the device. Now the video screen show the image form the default webcam.

I made a Vista Aero -style form for XP, but when using it, the application won't close. The FormClosed and Disposed events fire, but not the HandleDestroyed event. I tried to get around that by handling the Disposed event and calling Me.DestroyHandle(), and it worked, but not if the user resized the form so that it caused an IndexOutOfRangeException in BlurImage().The code is attached.

I'm writing an application which has user authentication system, basically, when the user open the software, he has to enter his/hers username and password which are retrieved form a access data base, and if the user is set as admin then it enable some features, I couldn't figure out how to read the column lets say, IsAdmin table, which will store an value of 1 or 0 for example. I need a concept of how build a login system with levels or whatever you guys call it...

I have a project that I am working on and I just recently transfered it from an XP machine to a Windows 7 machine. Both machines are running VB Studio and the only thing that changed was I moved it from the XP machine to the WIndows 7 environment. I have not changed any of the code, I just transfered it and ran it to make certain nothing happened.

What I'm trying to do is simulate projectile motion in Visual Basic using Visual Studio. Essentially, something like this but without air resistance or mass.
Anyhow, the way I'm doing it is using a PictureBox and drawing the image in (of, say, a circle) every so often with a timer of interval 1 with its x and y properties being variables calculated by the formulas.
I want to know what formulas I can use to assign to x and y so that I get a movement like the one on the example. I've tried a bunch of stuff, with help from wikipedia and other sites, but can't seem to pull it off.

I have a project in WPF/VB.net 2010 that I want to create an alternate version of in Silverlight. However, it uses heavy amounts of animation, especially motion animation. Most of this animation takes advantage of storyboard double animations for either translate transforms or canvas left/top changes. Can I convert this project over to Silverlight?

I'm trying to make a way to navigate around a custom grid. Basically, I'm implementing the drag-copy feature from Excel. Right now, you click on a cell grid and can drag around the grid. Anything in the drag area gets a green tint. Once you release the mouse button, whatever was in the first cell selected is copied to all the others that are tinted. That works pretty nicely, but it works only for the cells visible on the screen. I can live with that, but decided that if you dragged over the scroll bars or the column or row headers,then the grid should scroll (if there is anywhere to scroll).
That's where the problem arose. It turns out that scrollbars don't raise the MouseMove event (at least not as far as I can see), and the MouseEnter and MouseHover events are not fired as long as the mouse button is held. Interestingly, the MouseLeave event does occur when the mouse button is held, just as the MouseMove event is occuring for all the cells. That's pretty annoying. Why do some mouse events get raised when the mouse button is down while the others don't? Also, I suppose, is there any way around this?

I`m trying to find out the steps needed to achieve that, i`m i correct?
1) i need to find a PIC that is suitable for my project (to handle wireless motion sensors)?
2) I need to write the code for the PIC? (does the manufacture of the PIC provides an environment to write the assembly language?)
3) Then i need to write the vb code?
4) Finally to use a serial port to create a communication between VB and PIC. Also are their any all ready made PIC`s that can support VB code direct without the need of writing the assembly code?

I've already got some code in my software that works for what i'm after, but with a small side-effect. Currently, the USB detection works fine and it also provides me with the drive letter of the newly inserted drive - perfect. However the CD detection also picks up when a memory stick is inserted and if say there was a CD in the drive, it would opt to play the disc instead of look for content on the USB stick. This seems to happen because the USB detection is slower than the CD detection.
I also have code that detects and cancels the autoplay request.

I'm developing a webbrowser (how ussual!) named Hyvar.NET which utilizes the PhishTank database That database is updated once an hour and i need my application to download it on first run. DOWNLOADING it isnt the problem - detecting the first run of the day is.My downloader is set up and ready to roll, but im having heaps of trouble getting the program to determine if its the applications first run of the day or not - if it is of course it will download the database, load it and then continue to run as normal.
Edit: I've tried using the System.Environment class - it got me me nowhere (the loader is in the MyBase.Load [frmMain.vb])

What is the best way for collision detection? I keep trying but I have failed every time.I want my player to not be able to go through my pictureboxes/obstacles from ALL sides.I have 2 player movement down but now I need collision detection. I am trying to save player2's location with a timer using a variable for the location then check if player2 (picturebox2) intersects with picturebox3. If it does then picturebox2 will go back to the location.

I am trying to do simple collision detection in VB.NET using picture boxes, I have a fixed picturebox, (colour Green), and a moving picturebox, (colour Red). I can manage the collision detection OK, but how do make the movingpicture box bounce off the fixed picturebox and at the right angle? In the following code the moving picturebox sometimes passes right through the fixed one, but not everytime.

Right, after reading a few threads here recently about overriding the ProcessCmdKey to use arrow keys I thought I'd try it and make a Space Invaders like game.
In a nut shell what I want is to be able to shoot and move at the same time. Let me explain a bit further, at the moment I can move fine - by holding down, say the right arrow key, but as soon as I hit the space bar to shoot, while holding down the arrow key, the movement stops. Of course, what I want is to be able to hit the space bar and keep moving.
I have thought of implementing a series of timers started and stopped by the key down and key up events but it sounds like overkill, is there a better way?

Let me just start off saying that I'm generally new to all programming so if my coding is painful to read I understand. I am currently working on a project that relies on perfect or near perfect collision detection, and I'm not sure whats wrong but sometimes the object being moved completly passes through the object it is supposed to collide at. i am working on my A2 coursework and trying to get the log in system working. I wrote a query where i ask the databse if there is a username entered and password. if there is, it will return the username. if there isnt it will stay empty. But how do i do some kind of if statement that if there is the username returned that it will let the person log in ? im really bad at explaining things here is my code.
