I made a Vista Aero -style form for XP, but when using it, the application won't close. The FormClosed and Disposed events fire, but not the HandleDestroyed event. I tried to get around that by handling the Disposed event and calling Me.DestroyHandle(), and it worked, but not if the user resized the form so that it caused an IndexOutOfRangeException in BlurImage().The code is attached.

Why won't the button close the form? I'm puzzled, I tried another button just in case with the same result. UPDATE: I set a break point on Me.Close() and it isn't reaching it when I click the button, I created a new button and the same thing happened.
I have set up a notify icon for my form. I want to make it so that when the user clicks the close button that it doesn't close the form it just takes it to shows the notify icon. They can exit the program from the notify icon. Can someone tell me how to keep it running?

I have a situation where me.close() doesn't close the form. I have a form with a button with the code seen below. What happens when the button is clicked is the new form shows, but the original form(calling form) is still there. When I go into debug mode, I can see the me.close() execute, but nothing happens (calling form stays open). When I close the second form both forms close. If I comment out the call for the second form to open the first form closes without problem.

I am using vb 2008,First Opening MDI Form, then Opening Children, Normally Close command, is working clean, that is ok. For my Climate, opening three children, after close all, MDI form is not closing, even after dispose command was given.
There is no error showing..!, everything going, clean exit., but only MDI form is not closing..?What may be a problem, it is different...? I do not know where was the problem, problem is vb 2008.

So long, everything works fine in my development machine, which runs windows XP.However, when deploying the application in a windows 7 machine, the message box works correctly, showing itself whenever it should, but after the form is closed the application keeps running in the background. This happens whether the form closes directly or asks the user first.I have fixed it putting an End instruction in the FormBackground.FormClosed event, but it doesn't feel good.

View 5 RepliesMy Splash screen is acting funny. I may have inadvertently changes some detail somewhere, but I'm not sure where. I have a main form and a splash screen set in the "My Project" screen. When I test the program the splash screen shows up, as does the main form - simultaneously. The main form functions properly, but when I close it the splash screen doesn't close and the application runs forever.
I've tried removing and replacing splash screens to no effect. I've tried using the minimumsplashscreendisplaytime method, but nothing changes. Is there some page of information somewhere, independent of any individual splash screen, that manages all of this?

Then when I try to run the script again it says its Read-only as its opened..What I need it to do is - put the TextBox1 info onto the DOC - and print it. I don't want it to save, as it's a template. Is there a way to have a form within a program that doesn't dispose when you close it? I have a form in my project and a menu item to show it. When I declare the form globally and show in menuItem.click, then the click event breaks because the form no longer exists. When I declare the form within menuItem.click, then this creates a new form every time I click and that's not what I want.

This code runs alright because end is being used but if you rem end out the error which it's hiding comes out. The error is "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." I'm not totally sure but i'm guessing that the error is refering to the form.
I have a form that has around 4 txtboxes. Data is inserted into these boxes and then a "Save" Button is pressed. I have a GridView added to my form and want to view the entries. The issue I am having is that when I click the save button the data doesn't show up in the DataGridView until I close the application and then re open it.

I'm having a problem with closing Acrobat. I'm using vb.net to sign a PDF file in running Acrobat. After I'm done I close Acrobat and try to delete the currently signed PDF file, but I get an error message telling me that file is being used by another process. I tried closing and setting to Nothing AcroApp, AcroAVDoc, AcroPDDoc JSO, but still that doesn't work. I tried releasing them with Marshal.ReleaseComObject(...) still no effect.[code]

I just found out this causes the formclosing and formclosed not to be triggered. I found this out because I was updating the live database in the formclosing. Because of this I used me.close but this does not free up all the variables. Do I have to do me.close and then in the formclosed me.dispose in order to close a form correctly?

I have a project using Application Framework and then a main form which displays the main UI. There's another form I call it frmLog, which is solely used for logging any operations internal message logging. By default, I created a Global MyApplication logging object called myLogger which is an object of type frmLog. In Application_StartUp, I instantiate it by myLogger = New frmLog. On the main UI form, there's a button Show Log which does myLogger.Visible = Not myLogger.Visible.

What I wanted to do is close all opened workbooks. This code does the work IF there is at least one or more opened workbooks. My problem is IF there is NO opened workbook at all; It goes around unendlessly in the WHILE Loop. How do I not process the closing IF there is no any opened workbook at all?
