I have this form: Attachment 73106 In this form,I want to fetch data from the database(access). Initially when the form loads,the balance field remains disabled. But when i select a data from the dropdownlist of the account number then i want the corresponding data of the balance field from the database is shown in the balance filed of the form and the textbox becomes enabled since it is containing the data. I did this at the form load event:

I am developing one desktop application using vb.net 2008 and Microsoft SQL Server 2005. fetching the data from database between a given range.
the date field in my table is of type VARCHAR(25) and the date format stored is dd-mm-yyyy. when I using the between clause in the SQL query then it is not giving all the data every time i.e. the date criteria in where clause is not working fine.
while my clients requirement is to keep the date format as dd-mm-yyyy and fetch the data according to the given range.
I search on the forum and found many queries to fetch the data by converting or type casting the date field within sql query but nothing worked.
The table structure that I am using is as follows

I have a checkbox in my application,when the checkbox is checked then i want to fetch the data from the database and add it to the dropdownlist of the combobox.Again when the checkbox is unchecked then i want to ramove all the data from the dropdownlist of the combobox.
I did this

When the checkbox is checked then the data is added from the database to the dropdownlist of the combobox but when i uncheck it then the data is not removed from the dropdownlist of the combobox. In the above code i think i need to add an else condition to remove the data from the dropdownlist of the combobox and make it empty when the checkbox is unchecked.......but i cant give the proper else condition in the above code.

We are thinking about changing our current database system, MS Access 2007 front end and MS SQL Server 2005 backend to using a higher level language such as Visual Basic .Net. I wonder if this is the BEST solution for data management? Currently, among others, we have two big database programs that handle more than two hundred users and it's crashed often. That's the reason we think about changing to something that can handle these database programs effectively preferably using MS technology such as .Net.

I can save my data to access database and in the access database field I set it to date/time.But problem is when I get the value out from the database.. the format is always month/day/year hour:minutes:seconds example today: 5/2/2011 12:00:00..How to get the value into listview becoming May/2/2011 without the hour..Here's my code to get it from database ListView1.Items(i).SubItems.Add(dt.Rows(i)(14).ToString).The second problem is.When I would like to edit, how can the datetimepicker get the listview value ? I have two Access database, say database One.mdb and Two.mdb. I want to use VB2005 to export tblCustomer from One.mdb to Two.mdb, and replace the existing tblCustomer in Two.mdb, during run time. I basically want to simulate the export function that is available in MS Access (which can export one table from one Access database to another) with VB2005 during run time. I can think of a way by querying the table to a dataset and then delete everything on the other database before filling the table in that database with the dataset. However, there should be something simpler and faster than that, shouldn't it? Any idea?

I am trying to import data from an access database to a access database that my project uses I am having problems with combo box fields in the database with the data. I want to import what is displayed instead of the numerical key value. Example: The combo box displays employee names but the value stored is the key value from the employee table so instead of importing John Doe it imports 2 is there a way to make the actual name instead of the number?

I have a gridview where each columns have two template fields. One is ItemTemplate and another is EditItemTemplate. Now in EditItemTemplate it will show some textboxes where i can perform necessary editing. I can easily fetch data from each cell by using the following code-

But how can i fetch data when the grid view is not in editing mode that is in ItemTemplate. I have tried the following-

But its getting the exception object reference is not set to an instance of object. This is probably happening because the above code should be used in a method like RowDataBound when a row is instantiated. But I have to fetch data from some other method.Again for clarification I want to fetch data when the gridview columns are in ItemTemplate Mode.

I have a gridview loaded with two columns-one column(Name)is with some Text,another(Price) is empty.
I have got a TextBox with the data of Name and Price.
Now,I would like to loop through the Textbox,and see if the Data/symbols of the Column(Name) of GridView Control matches with the Data in Textbox.
If the Names of the GridVies First Columns data matches with the names of the Textbox,then the Price data should be fetched in the Second Column(Price) of GridView.[code]...

This program is very difficult for me, but I must get threw it or I cannot finish... What I am doing is making a Database of foreign Languages with the spelling of the words and the pronounciation inside the database... The USER enters a paragraph of words into the translator textbox and pushed translate. The program has a DATABANK of words with the phonetic spellings and matches the word, then translates to phonetics. The problem is that new words keep appearing inside the language. I want to connect to a Access Database I've tried to do it though Data Binding and that doesn't seem to be working so I'm going to have to do this through Code... every book I have tells you how to do it with SQL Server but can't find a example for Access that doesn't involve just using the databinding tool. Writing the queries isn't a issue it's just connecting to the database and then putting that data into a couple of text boxes. Lets say the database is called TestData and the table is ClientInfo and we want to put Date, First, Last into txtBox 1, 2 and 3 respectively when the form loads.
