Sep 22, 2010I took the following method to make a registry key in my setup project. When I run setup, it says Could not write value Run to the key. Verify that you have the sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel. "Below I have copied the code that I took from the forum After you have built your own application project, Right Click the "Solution" to "Add a New Project", of cource the project type is Setup and Deployment Project.
Add the "Project Outputs" into the setup project, here, it can be the your own application,Most of important step: Open the "Regstry" view of the setup project, then add new keys in "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" according to the information I just mentioned. Below the key "Run", you can add a new string value. Then in the value's "Properties" view, enter "[TARGETDIR]YourApplicationName.exe" .Install your application using the msi file created by setup project, then restart your computer, you can see the result.

1) It is portable and uses some .dlls which must be in the same folder
2) Requires Administrator in order to run
I want my application to run on windows startup. So i created the registry string value and made some tests that gave me the following results:
1) Windows XP -> Runs on startup without any errors
2) Windows 7 Starter -> It simply ignores my application
3) Windows 7 Premium -> The run confirmation box from unknown publisher appeared and when i selected to run, AVG gave a virus warning
4) Windows 8 Consumer Preview -> It simply ignores my application

But if the app starts up on windows startup, I want the form to be hidden, so the program can just keep working without bothering anyone. If it starts up because the user started it, I want the form to be showing, because the user probably wants to change some settings or something.

The problem is that it underline KEY and say declaration expected but shouldn't dim do the job for the declaration.

Mar 30, 2009For some reason, .NET applications that I've written seem to have issues if they're launched when Windows starts (by being in the Startup folder for instance). An application that can finish in 3/10 of a second if one launches it normally may seriously take 45-90 seconds to finish if it was launched when Windows loads. Even if I just manually wait 30 seconds after login and launch the program, it'll complete virtually instantly while a copy launched at startup is still struggling along, so it isn't just that Windows is still loading...this continues AFTER that finishes and all HDD activity stops.Writing something to disk using an IO.anything goes at about 20KB/s during this event.

In the case where the startup form should not be displayed, what is the method to close the application from within Me.Startup Application.Exit, Me.Close, and others are not available from within Me.Startup. My searches online have shown that I can use e.ApplicationExit() from Me.UnhandledException, but this method is also not available from Me.Startup.if anyone has any better ideas on how to accomplish what I am trying to do, those comments are always welcome.

For example, I've installed anti virus, if i right click on my desktop there is a there is a new item within the right click list which lets my right click on files and scans. What I want to know is, how to I add my application into the right click menu, how to get my application to respond when I click on the entry in the right click menu and any other thing anyone thinks will be useful. Oct 27, 2011I have been building a Web Application (ASP.NET, .NET Framework 4, VB, visual studio 2010). To be very brief the application interacts with a database and performs several actions (Insert Delete Select etc..).I am using several Gridviews, ListBoxes etc and I am not happy with the presentation outcome and the functionality provided by asp.net. In simple words my application looks bad, outdated and unprofessional.I figured that using Windows Forms that will be incorporated to the ASP ap.I have created a Windows Form Control Library to use the dll created in my app as a user control. I found out that this is not supported in .NET Framework 4 (is this true? or am i doing something wrong?). Is there any way to make my application have the 'look and feel' of a windows application? Please note that it is has to be a web app and the clients should not have to download any other application to interact with the server.
