VS 2008 Binding Source/Data Adapters/Table Adpters?

I have inherited an application at work that someone else started creating, right now about 1/2 of it is functional and is in use. My problem is that it is all done in 2.5 ?? and I am trying to step through it all to figure out how it works. I have always created my own binding sources, adapters and data tables.
One of the things I need to do is add a field to the fm_fieldman_master data table. I add the field in the db (SQL Server 2005)table, I come into VS and refresh the datasource, I then add the field to the fm_fieldman_master data table and the Fill,GetDAta() query I go into the designer and create all the attributes for the combo box

I have an Access database and I want to view on a datagridview specific rows. For that I used the following :
CasesBindingSource.Filter =
"OfferDate Between #1/1/1997# And #12/31/1997#"
Cases is the table, OfferDate a field of the table wich is DateTime type.
When I use Between operator I get the following error :The expression contains unsupported operator 'Between'.

i am working on a project that stores records from a windows form to an access datbase.But i am having problems with the update statement.I have a form with the fields bound to datatable called LeedsHubInfo .Dataset called LeedHubInfoDataSet1.

Re DataGridView Sorry don't really have any code - just a whole project. Basically I changed the underlying Access (accdb) Table by adding a new field, The new field shows up in the DataSources section of the Solution Explorer and in the "Edit DataSet with wizard" page but when I attach the binding source to a datagrid view, the new field is not there. I also created a new bindingsource but still not there.I just noticed I've another table where I changed the names to something more meaningful, and the old names are still there and the data for those fields doesn't display in the DataGridView

Can you please explain me and/or show some good tutorials how to do it?It seems pretty complicated because visual studio usually does it all for you and that made me stupid and not to do anything about it.Things I don't know to do in code but I know VS does it for me:

I'm sure there is a good tutorial somewhere on the internet. I'm okay with doing it with designer, but now when I have a situation where I can't use MDI container but tabcontrol.Other solution would be to make a MDI container out of tabcontrol. Is it posible or only other form can be MDI container.

I've got lots of textboxes and such bound to a BINDING SOURCE - the datasource of the CASEFILEBS is set like this:

Seems "data saving" is not always being consistently done - sometimes a field change never makes it into the underlying datatable - sometimes certain field changes never make it to the DB. I believe I'm doing something fundamentally wrong that when fixed will clear up some of these issues.

how to use the VS 2010 IDE tools in a way the Microsofties didn't specifically intend. But since this is something I immediately tried without success.
I have defined a .NET 4.0 WPF Application project with a simple class that looks like this:
Public Class Class1
Public Property One As String = "OneString"
Public Property Two As String = "TwoString"

The expected result was that "OneString" would appear next to "One" and "TwoString" next to "Two" in the running window.
The question is: Why didn't this work? What will work instead? If I put bindings in a DataTemplate, it works. Blend, with its sample data stuff, implied that this should work, but it doesn't.

I am creating VB.NET Windows Application. I have Placed a Binding Navigator Control on Form and that is Binded with a BindingSource Object which has a Binding Source of a Data Table. I have Binded Two textBox with my Binding Source and I am able to Navigate in Records uisng Binding Navigator Object but when I made some change in my record and try to update that I my Database (SQL Server) it show an Error that "Update requires a valid UpdateCommand when passed DataRow collection with modified rows" where as I have defined DataAdapter.UpdateCommand and that is valid one. Im trying to do bind a dropdown list to a details view but keep getting an error about the dropdown list ID field:

What is the proper way to attach the value of the dropdownlist to my object so that it can be properly created in the database? Most of my searches keep telling me how to bind a dropdownlist to an object data source, but that is not what I need to do. This is a basic drop down list of 2 items that will never change.

I'm working on a VB Winform project using Visual Studio 2008. The form's controls are all bound to a bindng source and a binding navigator which are tied to a dataset class. When the form is displayed, the first record is displayed as well. However, one of the controls (Radio button) is not showing the correct data from the data set. However, if I navigate to the next record and move back to the first, the radio button properly displays the correct information, so it appears the binding source is working the way it is suppose to.

I have a bit of code that reaches out and grabs a series of rows from SQL Server DB. I perform an inner join to get some related table data. In the process I get returned the user id of the creator of the data. I then want to pass this into a query to get back a full name. I am having no luck figuring out how to do just that. If I use the data visualizer I can see the name I am after, I cannot figure out the call to extract it

i have a datagridview bounded to a bindingsource that's pointing to a datatable created at runtime. In the same form i have a Add New, Save and a Cancel Button,the Add new calls the addNew, the Save Calls the EndEdit and the cancel the CancelEdit. Now the problem, if i fill only some fileds in the new row and call the cancel edit, the row is deleted, but if i fill all fields and i call cancel edit nothing happens.What i want it's, when i press the cancel button even if i put values in all fields the row get deleted.

I have a microsoft database file i'm currently working with in a project. I have already added the data source and all seems to be going well. Quick question though? What I'm looking to do was, have a button called find, when I click it I want it to bring up an input box and use the text the user types in to search through my binding source of names, if it's there I need to display its record to the textbox and if it's not there I need to print out a messagebox saying its not there. I've been told I should trim the usersResponse and look through the binding source table to see if it exists then go from there, but i'm not sure how to do that.
Here's what I have so far:
Dim Message As String = "Enter the name to find."
Const Title As String = "Database Project - Find"
Const UserEnteredNullData As String = "No input for find."

I've got a textbox on a screen - RateHr_3.
I'm binding it like this

Now - here's the really odd part! See the attached image. I call up a vendor - go to change the LANGUAGE FROM (Finnish) to another language - when I leave the DROP DOWN for LANGUAGE FROM it puts garbage in the RateHr_3 field. It actually fills the field with "System.Data.DataRowView" - as you can see in the bottom piece of the attached image.I'm having a really hard time debugging this - How do you put a watch on a textbox in VS2008?

I recently created a test VB.NET 2008 project with an Access database and it seems to work okay. It uses a dataset and table adapters. I'm aware that some people don't like table adapters. I'm willing to learn another way if it's better. Should I do this or continue using table adapters?

It remains at the first row.

I have a listbox in my form that gets its values from a data table by data binding. My question is, when the data (row) is loaded it also selects the first line automatically. I do not want this because I want the listbox to select an item only when the user clicks on it. Otherwise, the iteme should ony be listed. Is there a way to manage this?

How do I do this for a different dataset? I'm trying to rule out database problems so I made another one and added it, but now I need a table adapter for this one instead of the old database because it keeps giving me an error. I don't see any place to add them and I'm getting extremely angry at these databases.

You can iterate the controls collection and me.components.components to find certain objects, but nowhere can I find where a form keeps a collection of its early-bound table adapters. When you add them in at design time and bind them to a control, it shows them on the design window, and it creates them in the design.vb file, and they're available as a property of your form object... but I can't find a way to browse through them and pick one in code, like you can with the control collection (I.E. me.controls.Item("controlname")).[code]...

I'm using visual studio 2010 to build my application and SQL server 2005 to store the data. I created a table adapter, dataset and binded the controls to my already made formThing is, i'm trying to insert a new record into the database and it won't work! I can fill the form with a record from the database and update it so i know its definitely connected correctly. Everytime I try to insert a new record whether its through a table adapter or manually, I just can't seem to get it to automatically save to the database.Ive put this under the save button

_vendorcapabilitiestable = _vendorSet.Tables(1)
To add just a tad complexity to all this I'm making changes to _vendorcapabilitiestable through a filtered binding source in the UI.

Using; - vb2008 Express, data on ACCESS 2003, objective; - to update a separate table not on the original query.From what i have gathered i need to add a second table adapter to make the changes to a related field in another table. Since i already have the 1st table adapter the second does not appear as easy as the second (dragn the data set over).
So i suppose i need to create the second table adapters programmatically? [URL]..I see that because they are not nested they need to each be declared.. right? If so that is where my issue lies. I'm having a problem with how to declare them both now that there must be two.
