Well after I fixed my first problem I now have another. There is a listbox displaying your results with two buttons. One button copies the entire line while the other copies ONLY the numbers from the selected line.
It works fine to copy the whole line but I can't get it to copy just the numbers from that line. I tried using IsNumeric but I can't get that to work either.
In my below forms, the user select a name from the combo box list and enters an amount for the name selected. The user can enter as many entries. Every time the total button is clicked, I would like the total for each person to be display on the labels.
In my application I have fields where a phone number can be copied and pasted in a field. I want to strip that number of ),(,- and spaces. I want to use a function so I can just give the number a value like:

Then in my form just simply type Phone= StripPhoneNumber(txtPhone.text) I just needed to add the Return. It works. What do I need to do to that code to make it return a value?

I'm trying to finish up Visual Basic project for a class to create a playlist of files and to have them played.I have everything working if I single click the item from my list, and then click the play button in the WMP control portion of my form.I then want to add the functionality of double clicking the selection in the list and play with the following code:

The sourceURL of the first item in the playlist is correct, but the duration is 0:00 (it should be 0:01). Since it seems there is no duration detected, nothing is played. Any idea what I missed? Again, if I single click the file, which sets the playlist as I want, then click PLAY on the GUI controls, it works fine.Also, is there any way for the program to detect when the song has changed when playing a playlist of multiple songs? I want to have label fields showing "Now Playing" information that would change info as the songs change, and maybe even change the item selected as things are played. I've not yet found a way to detect this change, only when the player starts and stops in general.
How do you reset a RichTextBox? I wrote some code that changes the RichTextBox1.SelectionColor = Color.White and RichTextBox1.SelectionBackColor = Color.Red. I'd like to change all the text in the RichTextBox back to Black and no back color.

I have a 2D array which holds 5 students and two test results. I have initialised my array as studentTestResults(4,1) However, I am looking for a sorting algorithm which will displays the students in order of combined results when the user clicks "sort results". I have had a hard look around the net, but finding a bubble sort for a 2D array is difficult, especially as my knowledge is minimal.
Ive got a datagridview, which the user can put in to 'edit' mode by double clicking. If they then make changes but click to another row, I want to msg asking if they are sure they want to discard then changes. If they say No I want to stop the selection change from being made.

Is there any way to change the default colour to the highlight when a listview row is selected? Apparently the default blue colour causes some problems for some users who have some visual eyesight problems. They didn't tell me what colour they wanted but they did indicated the blue is annoying.
I have a form with a DataGridView and ComboBox, both of which are populated with data from an Excel spreadsheet, the source is unbound. My problem is in repopulating the DataGridView with data from another worksheet in the same Excel file when the user selects the corresponding value from the ComboBox. For example if they were to select January from the ComboBox then the DataGridView would load in and display the data contained on say Sheet2, selecting February would load Sheet 3 and so on. I am running Visual Studio 2008.
As the title suggests I have a ComboBox and 2 listBoxes on a form. I need to fill the left ListBox with items not now asssociated with the ComboBox selection and the ListBox on the right with items already associated with the ComboBox selection. Is it possible to populate the ComboBox and each ListBox using only one query and returning a dataset of ALL the data to do so, or do I need to Populate the ComboBox, then use 2 queries, one for each ListBox?
I have developed a drawing tool that allows the user to add graphically referenced database records to a picturbox.While for testing purposes i was simply loading any picture into the picture box what i want is on selecting a building name from a combobox that it automatically populates the related floor levels (that apply to that building)to appear as a selection in a 2nd combobox. On selection of say 1st floor i want to load the relevant floor plan (JPEG)image into the picturebox.The tool i have developed has an estate builder function where you ccan build your estate profile i.e specify the buildings and floors etc and these are added to a database file. What i would like to do is at the same time specify the floor plan JPEG file location and for this to be stored in the database in a way which would enable me to load the image automaticaly when i select the floor level

How can I keep a label on my form with the current count of the selected rows. My DGV has a checkbox (unbound) and 3 other columns. When the user clicks on the row I want the checkbox to either be checked or unchecked depending on its status and update a label the is below the DGV to show how many rows are checked. DGV is FullRowSelect.
I'm working on a WYSIWYG Blog Editor, I'm having an issue with my text selection. I've added a couple of graphics to illustrate. My code is selecting the text and putting it back into the textbox, but it's adding extra text. I can't quite figure out how to get it to select the intended text and manipulate it correctly (make it Bold or Italic and so on,) and then show the text in the two windows (one is the Textbox and the other is a webtext box) correctly.

Every thing works up to the point when I try to manipulate the text, it then puts more text in. I have been trying to find info on how to clear the text box and then re-insert the text with the text formatting. Side note in my graphics is a small graphic that is just there as a marker for me, it has no affect on the actual program.
I'm building an Expandable Groupbox control (source will be available in the codebank if I finish it), which is basically a groupbox with a [-] or [+] button to the left which allows the user to expand/contract it.
I've got it working pretty well, but now I want the user to be able to click the button in the designer to expand/contract the groupbox, rather than having to find the Expanded property in the property list every time. The ExpandableGroupbox control is just a UserControl with two panels (header and container), with an actual Button and a label for the text in the header panel. I know how to enable the user to click the button, even in the designer (this is done using WndMsg's and stuff, don't really understand that but it works!).
Now, there is one problem. When the button is clicked during design-time, the control is contracted (it's size changes), but the designer is not notified of this change. The selection rectangle remains as if the control size never changed, which is very confusing to the user. It only changes to the correct size after I select something else, and then select it again: At the moment, when the button is clicked it raises an event called Expand. I thought I could have my Designer class listen for that event, and refresh the selection service when it fires. I can get the control the designer is designing simply with the "Control" member.
Now here's the problem: Obviously I need to attach the Expand event using AddHandler, and I can see only one time to do that: in the constructor of the Designer.
So I tried it:

1. Can you see any other way to listen for the event? There is no 'control initialized' event or something I can use where I can attach the event as far as I know.
2. How do I refresh the selection service in the first place??
I'm pretty new to VB.Net programming, but have already been able to figure out many things using this forum, but also via the many other forums on the internet.I'm currently stuck with a question though regarding getting the clicked value in a datagridview comboboxcolumn.When I use _Selected IndexChanged and then check the current cells value, what I get is the value before I clicked the new one in the comboboxcolumn.When I use _CellEditFinished, I can get the new value, but only after I selected another cell, or changed focus to another object.How do I get the new value from a DataGridViews ComboBoxColumn the moment I clicked it in the pulldown menu from the ComboBoxColumn?
I want to include the ability for the end user to create connections to different databases using the same (or similar) dialogs that are available at design time, such as the Connection String builder, Selection Data Source (ODBC) screen, etc. Is this something built into .NET or only available via third party/custom controls?
