I am creating a login system that will allow different account types to log in, when they do log in they are taken to a new form. On this form I would like to keep some information from the login form, namely their username. How am I able to do this?
I haven't really started anything on this to offer anything up.
We have an application that has a main form with a map on it. Right now the paradigm is to have forms that are displayed using menu items to display information to the user. Most of these forms are modal forms, but a couple are non-modal forms that interact with the map. For some of the forms, it really would make for a better user experience if we could dock them in the main form of the app and allow the user to see both the form and the map. For instance. We could have a list of map features in a docked window, and select one of the items on the list and have the map zoom to that feature. Or do the reverse: let the users select a map item and have a docked window that shows details of the feature. Sounds great, but I wonder about what sort of gotchas we may encounter. In particular, what if we have two windows docked at the same time? Could we get tangled up in our event code?
Example Form1 with data bound controls and a Public Variable Form1Var.Form2 with data bound controls and a Public Variable Form2Var DataTables are related Form2 Data is related to Form1 Data in a one-to-many.What I am trying to accomplish. When editing Form1 data there is a button to open Form2 if new data needs to be added. on closing Form2 I would like Form1 to remain at the state it was in before opening Form2. If I Change Visibility of Form1 when Form2 is opened upon Retun to Form1 Data is reloaded, if I minimise Form1 when Form2 is opened upon return to Form1 Public variables are reset to defaults.I have many Forms with many controls and buttons to do Lookups or additional add to related tables.
I'm getting a little fustrated, ive been trying to figure out how to allow my main from access to a sub form. what I'm initially aiming for is control of text and font color via a dialog on the main form and the results to appear on the second form, if that makes sense. Most of my knowlege resides around using VB.net for creating games and not progams. ill post the code so you guys might be able to get a better understanding of what im looking for as a result.
I am currently working on a school database that I am having troubles with. I have the Table Adapters, Binding Source, and DataGridView all working, along with the Insert, Update and Delete Commands. I have the user open up the SubjectForm. On this form the user is looking at a DataGridView of the subjects table and everything that is in it. When the user clicks add new on the right side, it opens up a new form called AddNewSubject. When the user gets done adding the new subject in, a dialog box appears and says that the subject was added successfully. After the user clicks exit, it takes them right back to the SubjectForm where the DataGridView is. My question is, how do I update the data in that grid so that after the user clicks exit on the AddSubject Form, the new data will appear in the grid? I have tried a combination of things and they haven't worked. I will add my code at the bottom.[code]....
i am choosing a flight that i want and then the system will go tho another form where it will show the details about the flight in datagridview..after we choose which flight to take there is 2 combobox where u can choose hw many adult and hw many child...at last there is a calculate button where it calculate the total price...the peradult price n perchild price will b stated at datagridview....the total price calculated will b displayed in a textbox...

I have a problem whereby some rubbish code is not releasing its memory (eventually reaches the 10k handle limit and crashes).I'm looking to insert some logging in the application to dump a list of handles present at the point of failure.
I have a form that has 5 text fields.I need to automatically input those fields into a website via a button.

I am making a program to organize grainbins in seperate yards. In this program, the grainbins need to be moved around and thier position to be saved when the program is closed. I also need to save information such as backcolour and text.I am specifically referring to GroupBoxes, OvalShapes, Textboxes, Labels, and ComboBoxes.
Is it possible to make one project that saves all the database information on through forms. Then also have a word document that could access the database through labels on a separate project? Also i am using ms access for my database and is there any way after i publish them that they can access the same database?
I've got labels on my form using the following "Shift1Time1Label" to "Shift1Time8Label".I'm trying to get information from a access database and change the text of the labels.I'm getting the information, but having an "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" on the directcast to the label....
I'd like to ask if anyone knows how to properly use the clipboard to take information from a rich text box and send it to the clipboard. You see, if I try the following, which is pulling text from a rich text box, named RichTextBox2:
I often use the process of displaying a dialog from a form, with the dialog user input then used to update the main form without any problem. In a new scenerio I launch the main application screen, I then show a login dialog ontop of the main app screen and can launch another dialog from the login if a new user is required. The plan is to update the login dialog (updating a combobox to reflect the addition of a new user) from the new user dialog.
See code below :-
'Update login forms user list as new user added successfully frmRoomBookingLogin.cboLogin.DataSource = Nothing frmRoomBookingLogin.txtPassword.Text = "Updating password from dialog" MessageBox.Show("The password text is " & frmRoomBookingLogin.txtPassword.Text)
[code]....
The messagebox implies the dialog has been updated yet the text does not change. Is it possible to update the dialog when using a setup such as Form -> dialog -> dialog? I'm intrigued as why the dialog does not reflect changes. I have never refreshed/repainted the dialog as never required to in my other examples when updating a form from a dialog and never encountered a problem when using a two tier form setup.
The program is currently trying to pull information from three different database tables and compiling the information onto one screen, to do this i am using three different connections and a function to handle the data at each stage. The issue is as my code hits PageLoadStage of "2" and runs the QueryDatabase() Function i am encountering an error of: "OleDB exception unhandled: No value given for one or more of the required parameters." This occurs on line 15 of the first code snippet. Can anyone explain this and/or identify any code issues if that is the cause.
I was looking for some stuff online, and i was looking through my reference sheets for vb.net, but it seems in the code i have found, there is declare in methods. Below is an example i am talking about. The thing is, that i dont recognize it and believe that it is an earlier version of Visual Basic ( 6 or earlier) which used it. Should i just keep looking for different code?
Public Declare Function RegOpenKey Lib "advapi32.dll" Alias "RegOpenKeyA" (ByVal hKey As Long, ByVal _ lpSubKey As String, phkResult As Long) As Long
Goal: Find information on how to implement a method which will check if a certain DSN exists, and then if it does, extract the information and use the information for connection purposes.
I have a text box where i am entering numbers of double datatype andon the Keytdown event of the textbox some checks take pace and in certain circumstances I want to be able to stop the user from entering other information until they enter the right information in the textbox (where it says right here) . now when I say exit sub the textbox somehow loses focus . but this is not how I want it to be I want the textbox to remain with the focus so the user can change the information . How can i go about this. And the other thing is why is my txtDestPayRate1.Focus() just befor the exit sub not working?
Private Sub txtDestPayRate1_KeyDown1(sender As Object, e As System.Windows.Forms.KeyEventArgs) Handles txtDestPayRate1.KeyDown
I am designing a backup/restore utility for work.atm i have been able to populate field for PC name, IP address, MAC address, number of printers installed on the PC but i am wondering is it possble to get all the printer information 'with the click of a button' to print all information like the prnmngr.vbs script down.I am able to run a batch file but i wanna get it to go from that app or even embed to batch file to the app and run it form there .
The company I work for, we have a lot of computers installed along the highway. Each one has its own IP address which varies from each site. What I'm trying to do it create an application that will read the current IP settings and will change them to whatever I specify.
Well I found this thread [URL] but I would rather set the IP address without having to execute a bat script. Heck as of right now the only thing i can figure out how to do is get just the IP address but I want to get the gateway, subnet, dns servers, etc so I can display them in a label.
Does anyone know how to get information from a dll file? For example, i want to get the information from the following dll:c:windowssystem32fxsresm. dll,-122..I think that the -122 is the line i want to get the information.
just wondering if it is possible to add a method to all forms in my project without having to do it on one form and Inherit all my other forms from that one
I have a Flash Calculator made for specific calculations. I can't extract values automatically, because it doesn't allow copy and paste. However, I know handler and address for those values, how can I get them in to my program?
Well, more specifically, is there a way to return the amount of memory that an End User's Graphics Card has using Windows API's?I need it for bug reporting purposes in my program which uses several different themes that might require a certain level of graphics card.
I need to permit access or denied access using this 2 tables....
The problem is: When the user type a 'user_id' in textbox, the application go to table tblAccess and verify if the status_access is true or false.... if is false, the application show a msgbox saing "Access denieded"... when status_access is true the application go to table 'tblUser' and get user_name, user_photo and show the user photo to the picturebox, show the user name to the labeltext and a message box saying : access permited...
I want to (for an example) find out the computername of a specific computer. Now I already know the computers name, so I will test the result with the actual computer name, just to see if I am using the WMI properly. This is at the moment only for learning, in the future I want to be able to find out the Current User, How much memory, what applications are installed, what applications are running etc.
Here is my code
vb.net Dim Options As New ConnectionOptions Options.Username = "***********"
i have a problem with trying to get 2 forms to close at different times using a timer on each of the 2 forms.
This is my form layout:
Quote: frmMain Frm1 Frm2
Frm1 and Frm2 are identical to each other. FrmMain has 2 buttons on it. One button to call Frm1 and the other to call Frm2.Frm1 and Frm2 each has a timer. It counts down to 0 and then does a .close(). However, if i pause between clicking the second button they both seem to always disappears at the same time.I would do something like this...
Click on the first button (showing the Frm1 form)
wait about 10 secs...Click on the second button (showing the Frm2 form)they both are shown on screen...hen they both disappear at the same time.... which shouldn't happen since i clicked the Frm2 box 10 seconds AFTER Frm1... So Frm1 should hide before Frm2 does...but it does not.
I'm creating an application in VB 2008 that will act as an interface for user's to add information to an excel spreadsheet. I am trying to determine the best way to do this, since I have never actually done it before. It seems like it should be simple, but as I am reading about it, I feel like it is a little more complicated than I had originally thought. I don't need to create the spreadsheet, I just need to add to it using this form as an interface.
Why couldn't I access some propery of the first listview and send it to the second? I've tried lots of different properties but none work. What about the ItemPlaceHolder or just User_Category? My thought is to to this with two ObjectDataSoureces and send the DataKeyName from the parent listview to the second ObjectDataSource. But I don't know how to get the DataKeyName (see the ???? below)
