View 10 RepliesI have two similar databases and i want to update a table of one database from the other, so insert new records, delete records that are not in the source and update different values.I use the dataadapter update method but it not recognize the primary key, so it only work when the destination table is empty. Otherwise i have an exception of duplicate primary key.The databases are sqlite but i tried with access too with the same error (different message due to different provider but the two times saying that cant insert because the primary key is duplicate).

I populate a datagridview using a bindingsource and dataadapter. So I join 3 tables in the view to get the data i need.
so I have my view as a child table in my dataset. and a table called classes which is the parent table. So when I select a Class(class 1A for example), my datagridview displays the pupils in that class.
Now i need to add another relationship in the dataset. so when I select a day in a monthcalendar, I need to add 5 checkbox columns for each day to my datagridview. Should I add these 5 columns to my datatable? i'm not sure what the best way is.
Then for each day I tick I have to save to my pupil_job_day table. I will save the peoleid,their accountid and the date. please help me

View 7 RepliesI posted in the Database development forum, but no bites. I have field names in my Access table which have a number as the first character (i.e. "2x2"). Evidently, the DataAdapter doesn't like this. I'm able to view the data in a DataGridView, but I get an exception when I use DataAdapter.Update.
Can I modify my sql statement to make the command builder work or do I have rename the fields?
For example:
"SELECT [2x2] as twoBytwo..."
Changing the names of the fields would be a huge pain-in-the-arse!
As part of the application I'm writing in Visual Basic, I have written code to display records in text boxes and cycle through each of them one record at a time. I'm having trouble getting the code I've written to update records to work however.

Now I need to run different update statement etc to update each table. foe example I will update balance field in the accounts table using one query and another to update days present etc.

I have been researching all that is related to DataSources, DataReaders, DataAdapters, etc, with an Access 2010 DB bound to a DataGridView.

The line that fails, actually updates my database, but somehow, the update is not performed on the line that belongs to the first row of the grid. What is more, if I change the value manually, the same update method works fine. What is going on here?
I'm trying to create a form that uses controls that are bound at runtime. All the data objects are declared at the form level. The Select statement includes the two fields that make up the PK form the table. The Owing_Company data displays in the bound control. I can change the text and in Save_Click the RowState is Modified and Row!Owning_company has the changed data. DsForm.HasChanges is False. A simple call in Save_Click daForm.Update(dsForm) does not change the DB. If I update the Row!Owning_Company in code dsForm.HasChanges is now true and daForm.Update changes the data. What am I missing that allows changes made via the bound control to modify the DataSet?

View 5 RepliesI need to select some user datagridview settings (such as column width, column visible, etc.) from my database. Then I run a loop to change those settings. If any settings are changed I need to update the database. For some reason I can't get the code below to update anything. The code throws no errors when it executes, but when I check the database for the updates nothing is changed.

I am trying to make a little search system, so the user can enter a search parameter which then populate a DataAdapter, DataSet then DataGridView with the selected data then any change the user makes in the DGV are then commited to the MS Access (97) Database when a Update Button is pressed.
