VS 2008 - ListBox - Export Only NAMES Of Files Not Full Path
Oct 1, 2010
I have this code for my "Scan" button: [Code] It displays the FULL PATH for the file into the ListBox1. Then I have a button called "export list of items" and I want to export only the NAMES of the files not the full path. How can I do it?
I am trying to populate a listbox on form load of a list of directories. I only want to show the directory name, not the full path:
[code]...
The form opens w/ no data in the list box. I played w/ this for a bit and found the strFolderName(i) assignment seems to break the code (make it not work) but I can't figure out why.
I'm fairly new to programming and have little to no experience with sql and file transfers. Here's what I'm trying to do: 1. Link my program to a database containing images (or pathnames to images) 2. Allow user to select a starting image and ending image (max 50) based on image numbers (which they already know) 3. Collect selected images from DB or could just be a copy of the image. 4. Export images to a new folder so that my other program can process and OCR them I have the form built, but I just can't figure this out.
[code]I have one button to play all the stuff, but it needs the full path to the mp3 file to play, but I only saved the File name to the Listbox. So basically, I'm wondering how to be able to still select files in the Listbox and press Play, when the Listbox's Items do not include the full path to the actual files.I know I could just add the full path to the listbox from the beginning, but I don't think that looks good.So maybe someone can point me in the right direction, or maybe provide me some source code.
I thought the %AppData% should find the relative path. When I go 'Start|Run|%AppData% windows explorer takes me to that directory. I can not put the full path in, as the user is different on each client machine.
I have a process that I start in this manner: Process.Start("pwace", "/a C:18537-1ff.ace") The .ace loads a DBF and it is simply told where to find it like this: 18537-1.ace. When running the .ace file manually, this is fine. However, when starting the process through a VB program, the EXE (pwace.exe) acts like it doesn't know where the .ace file is located, so it can't simply append the .ace path to the .dbf to find it and the program errors out telling me to specify the .dbf with a full path.
So, I set an absolute path to the .dbf in the program, and it works fine. This leads me to believe it is an issue similar to shortcuts where if you don't set a 'Start In' path, your program has to have absolute paths defined to be able to launch external files with Process.Start(), and not simply filenames.
With that all said, is there a way I can indicate to the Process.Start() from VB where this file is located, sort of like a' Start In' path, so that my files don't have to be configured with absolute paths. And remember, it matters where the .ace file is located, not the actual .exe process that is started. The .ace file is simply a settings file for the pwace.exe to get it's parameters from. The reason I don't like to set absolute paths is because of the environment I'm in and for these .ace programs, it is better if the .dbf files are not given absolute paths.
I need to access a file path, but a part of the path is different on each PC. Mozilla creates a random profile name for each PC it is installed on. I can get most of the path through environment variables. I need to access the files inside of the default profile, but can't since I'm not sure how to access it.
Here's an example of the file path: 'C:Users\%USERPROFILE%AppDataRoamingMozillaFirefoxProfilesxxxxxxxx.default' The only thing that stays the same with the profile name, is the '.default' part.
I have searched and found many articles and code that writes a directory structure to an XML file. However, I'm not having much luck finding/altering code that gives each sub folder a different name. I'm trying to put into XML a folder full of audio files. They are music - artist - album - file. Music is the root folder and file are the audio files but every piece of code calls artist and album the same name. eg
I am upgrading a project from VB6 to VB.NET. Due to my non disclosure agreeement I cannot post DLL names or the full code here. Here's the situation. I am making a program that works with a USB scanner. In VB6 there is this function:
vb.net Public Declare Function GetCode Lib "MyDll.dll" Alias "myAlias" _(ByVal DeviceID as Long, ByVal CodeLine as String, ByVal Length as Long) as Long So, in VB6, to get the code from the scanner, you would do this:
I have an app which exports data to Excel. In excel the data is added, but with an square. This makes the calculations in Excel impossible. I've tried to use the replace in text changed, but with no luck. The code that export Listbox lines to Excel:
This next program I am working on consists of 3 listbox's. The idea is to have the end user load names in the first and second list box. Then have a button's action when pressed combines the list in listbox1 with listbox2 then gives the output combination in listbox 3.
I also wanted to include some checkbox options such as adding a "_" or "." for every item.
I THINK I have seen a simpler way of doing this, however I can't remember how to do it... How can I get all the color names into a ListBox? This is the code I found on the web:
vb.net Prvate Function GetColors() As List(Of String) create a generic list of strings
I want to fill a listbox with file names of the specific extention. This is my code , does not work.
lstClips_ListBox.Items.Clear() If Not FolderExists = My.Computer.FileSystem.DirectoryExists(PowerPointDir) Then MsgBox("This Directory does not contain any PowerPoint files" & vbCr & "You need to load the files now...", MsgBoxStyle.Information, "Warning - No Media Found")
[code]....
If i take away the DIR name and the Exten then it fills with ALL the file names, not what i want.
How do you use a parameterized query to make the (last_name, first_Name) appear in the same combo box? I know how do drag them over from the DATA SOURCES menu, but I am trying to combine them. So instead of it being two separate combo boxes with both last_name and first_name), it want it to find the the names with first and last name in the same combo box.
However I want to let users install the program wherever they want, so I changed that line and others to:
System.IO.File.ReadAllText("data.dat")
Which works great, until you do this:
System.IO.File.ReadAllText("D:/X/Y.Z")
As soon as I put a fixed path into the ReadAllText function it changes the relative path to D:/X. Which means the following function looks inside D:/X instead of the apps directory:
System.IO.File.ReadAllText("data.dat")
And complains that "D:/X/data.dat" is not found. How can I use relative paths but also read from full file names, for example from an OpenFileDialog, without VB changing my relative path, and breaking it all from then onwards?
Im working on a Dll Injector. But that is not my problem. I am using a picturebox to display the icon of a running process.E.g. If google chrome is running. The picturebox should display the icon of google chrome.I can extract the icon to my picturebox only if I know the full path of the process. That API was easily found and works very well. But know I want my application to get the full path of a running process automatically as soon as I order it.Like in a textbox is write: chrome.exe, and press the button next to it. What do I need to write in the button to get the full path of that running process.(of course only if its running, I if its not running I dont want anything to happned)
I'm trying to export a listbox (lets call it Listbox1) to excel 2007 and I'm having some trouble with it. Listbox1 contains just one column of items but the list itself is able to contain more 30 items.I have this script and it does something but, the most important thing doesn't show up: The list as in listbox1...
'Dim oExcel As Object 'Dim oBook As Object 'Dim oSheet As Object
I am having problems with copying from one listbox to another and keeping the paths of the files in the listbox's. At the moment i have two listbox's, listbox1 shows the list of files without the directory paths showing. Listbox2 is used to add items from listbox1 which work ok but what i need is to be able to preserve the directory paths to each file. how to do this and have searched high and low for a solution without any luck.
I have worked out one way of doing it but i think there is a better way of doing it as the reverse does not seem to work. So basicly i want listbox1 to list the files without the paths and pass it on to listbox2 so that the files can be copied to temp directory as they are being add to listbox2.
Below is my
[CODE]...................
Routine to add items from listbox1 to listbox2: I have created another listbox3 (which is in bold), which is hidded under listbox1 and holds all the paths to the files and is use to copy the files from there original directory to a new directory.
[CODE]...................
Routine to add items back to listbox1 and remove them from listbox2. I have created another listbox4 which is hidden under listbox2 which i was trying add the paths from listbox3.
There is a field in the database whose value is the StoredProc name with full path.for example test01.test.dbo.spGetData
test01 is the server name test is the database spgetdata is the SP
I am storing this in a variable
Session("GetSP") = objReader(1).ToString() (test01.test.dbo.spGetData) Dim Command As New Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand(Session("GetSP"), conn) Command.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure
I always get an error cannot find the SP and it shows like this test.dbo.spGetData It is cutting of the servername test01 always.how can i get the full path.
My combobox is filled with file names (without extension) of all the .txt files in folder "c:/files". When I select one file name from that combobox, how can I show that files full path in textbox or label?
how to recourse through a directory and find all files beneath it.The only thing I'm missing is how to prepend the full path to each file, so that I can locate it later:
Imports System.IO Public Class Form1 Private Sub RecursiveSearch(ByRef strDirectory As String, ByRef array As ArrayList) Dim dirInfo As New IO.DirectoryInfo(strDirectory)
[code]....
How can I get the full path to a file before adding it to the ListBox?
This is the simplest example Google returned to show how to recurse through a directory and find all files beneath it. The only thing I'm missing is how to prepend the full path to each file, so that I can locate it later:
How do I get the full file system path to my DLL? I have found a number of calls/properties for "Name", "FullName" etc. The closest I have come is to call Me.GetType().Module.Assembly.GetName().CodeBase. But that string has stuff appended to the front of the actual filename. Plus I don't know if a codebase is always available (say if I don't do "regasm /codebase" on my assembly.I simply want something like "c: empmyproject.dll". That is, what GetModuleFileName would return. Surely I don't have to call Marshal.GetHINSTANCE(Me.GetType().Module).ToInt32()) and then directly invoke the Windows GetModuleFilename API for something so basic.ps. I always wonder why there is an "Alert me" check box at the bottom of the post page. Never been alerted although it is always checked (my profile has my e-mail address).
