View 8 RepliesIs there a easy way to maximize a window in VB when the maximize button is pressed so that everything that is contained in the Window (Forms, Panels) will also automatically resize to the screen size?
View 4 RepliesI want to maximize my form size when i maximize my window. means when i double click on window to maximize then my form also get maximize with window, i used dock property bt still not getting proper result.
View 16 RepliesIn VB6 IDE if you doubleclick on the titlebar of the form designer, it maximizes/restores. But in VB.net it opens up code window.How do you quickly maximize/restore the form designer window ?
View 4 RepliesIs there is any option to send a message to a window to "press" on the maximize button? I thought using the sendmessage API but I don't really know how, I alreday got the window handle, the problem is how to send the message?
View 2 RepliesIf you have ever noticed in the Task Manager, when you right-click on the running task, you have many options which include 'Minimize' and 'Maximize'. Is there anyway to do achieve this in vb?
View 1 RepliesI send a message a while ago and no one answerd, how can I draw directly on the screen (not on a specific window) just on the screen, neither if it's on the desktop or anything else.Is there is any option to bring up the switch between applications window (Alt + Tab), I don't want to use sendkeys because the user need to keep the key down and I just want the user to select the application with his mouse.
View 3 RepliesDecided to move from VB6 to VB 2005.Net.I want my form (remember these are early steps) to maximize into the top 10% of the screen.remember am a VB3,4,6 developer for the last 17 years, old habbits die hard
View 2 RepliesI am using VB 2005 express edition and I need to develop a simple application. It should open a certain program (called MyMobiler) when a button is clicked. So far, I haven't managed to start it maximized (using shell (programpath, vbMaximizedFocus)), it always opens restored, although trying with notepad works (notepad opens maximized if i put vbMaximizedFocus). What else could I try? Here's my code
Public Class Form1
Private Sub Label1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs)
End Sub[code]....
I need to make an on-screen keyboard for a touchscreen application. I have my main application popping up a child form that shows my keyboard layout. When I press a key on the keyboard form I need it's value to go into a textbox on the main form. So how do I send a keys text value back to the main app?
View 10 RepliesI'm trying to add Jumplist support to my app, but I can only find the source code of libaries to do this in C#, I can't find any dlls anywhere. So where can I get one?Or am I totally wrong and how do add the new windows 7 features in vb net?
View 1 RepliesI need help with an auto size code for my combobox's width so when the browser go to maximize the combobox auto sizes with the screen.i found this code online but it
Private Sub ComboBox1_SelectedIndexChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles ComboBox1.SelectedIndexChanged
Dim iWidth As Double
ComboBox1.AutoSize = True
iWidth = 0
[Code]...
if you have any other auto size codes please help me or edit the one i have.
url...If you check out the images on that website you will notice that in their program, it has the textbox and user icon thing and everything and they have transparencies set.Is there anyway to access those "objects" and just throw it on the screen? How exactly are they doing that? Did they make their own graphics? And if they did, how are they letting it do the transparency, because I know laying a picturebox over a picturebox won't accomplish that.
View 10 RepliesWhen i Maximize The window it will not expand it all. I want it to expand everything when i maximize the window.
View 2 RepliesI have an application right now that starts a process, then opens a file associated with that process (system.diagnostics.process.start("WM.exe")), however, the way they save, there is a window within a window. It's like in photoshop cs3 when you have many windows within the big window of the application. Right now I use an api call to findwindow which is the application itself, but within that I need to find the subwindow, of which I know the apptitle, and then I need to set its windowstate to maximized. Does anyone know how this can be done? I think there's a way to hook a handle, but how does one also maximize?
View 1 RepliesI want to maximize my mdi child automatically by setting WindowState to Maximize. But it looks like this.. why is this happening? but if I restore it and maximize it again its body now occupies the mdiparent space. To aim is not enough. You must hit.
View 2 Repliesi have a problem in ToolStripComboBox at maximize window don't change size.
How change ? I write
Private Sub Form1_MaximumSizeChanged(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.MaximumSizeChanged
ToolStripComboBox1.Dock = DockStyle.Right
[Code]......
I tried a variation of the code at the end of this thread.>> [URL] which is the following code using; one Button one Panel
View 5 RepliesI have a bit of an issue here. I made a "Colour picker" dialog in my program with which you can pick the colour at the mouse. It is a simple topmost form with an OnPaint handler used to draw a coloured border around the cursor:
It uses a transparency key to make the non-drawn parts of the form transparent.
It uses the following code to prevent the mouse from clicking through the screen:
Window.FromControl(Me).ExStyle(Window.ExStyles.Layered) = True
Window.FromControl(Me).ExStyle(Window.ExStyles.Transparent) = False
It sets Layered to True and Transparent to False. This works in Windows 7, but on a XP machine it fails. When moving the mouse the event does not go to the forms' event handler and you can just click through. For a screen region selector I simply made a screenshot, but I want the Colour Picker to remain updated. (just in case you want to get the colour of an animated control)
How can I get this to work on a Windows XP machine?
Okay: I've been searching the threads and MSDN and elsewhere and either its not there or I am simply not understanding what I am finding.I have an image which at full resolution is larger than my screen (actually it is larger than any screen). I want to be able to look at parts of it at full resolution in a client area that is the size of the entire image at full res; that is, I want the window to exist without any scroll bars and want to be able to examine different parts of the image by repositioning the window on the desktop.
In general, I've run into trouble insofar as windows (or maybe VB) won't let me make my window any larger than my operative desktop (although interestingly it will let me place the window to the North-West of my visible screen). What it won't let me do so far is to grow my window any larger than my desktop.
So far I have noodled a couple of different possibilities, in descending order of preference:
(1) Find some way to exempt my window from the limitation that it be smaller than the desktop;
(2) Virtually increase the size of my desktop so that it is as large or larger than my image (i.e., find some way of exempting my desktop from the limitation that the desktop represent the dimensions of the screen/monitor -- understanding that those two are not the same);
(3) Simulate a multi-monitor configuration (I'll probably need at least four); or
(4) Actually configure my system for four+ monitors (I don't even know whether that's possible, but its certainly not my first choice).
Does any one have any other ideas or suggestions as to how I ought to proceed?[URL]..
Am devloping an application with multiple forms, which reside on top of a main form. i.e the main application window. The 'child' forms do not need to be linked in any way as they do not pass information to the parent form, as all the parent form does is act as main window.Now I would like to know what is the correct way for the 'main window' form acting as a container for the other forms? So that all the smaller secondary forms stay focused on top of the main application form, that when the main window is minimized, so these forms should do also etc..
I have read other posts and they mention, leaving all the forms standard i.e. IsMdiContainer = False and then using form.showDialog() to call the secondary forms. This did not work for me as what happens is that as soon as I give focus to the main app form, the secondary form disappears underneath.I tired making the main app form IsMdiContainer = True and when it loads calling:
frmMemberForm.MdiParent = Me
Now this works, because I can click off the form and minimize the app etc and the frmMemberForm doesn't disappear. However if i close the MemberForm and reopen it, it looses this property and once again when it looses focus, it will disappear.
Currently I have the following VB.NET code to make a screenshot of my desktop, but it only takes a picture of the active screen:
Public Function SaveScreen(ByVal theFile As String) As Boolean
Try
SendKeys.Send("%{PRTSC}")[code].....
The following code is how I execute the above function, if it makes any difference, which I don't think it does:
SaveScreen("C:Lexer_tracescreen.png")
Now, I need to be able to take a picture of the entire screen, not just the focused window.
I have the following function that should make the window always on top of other applications.
Private Declare Function SetWindowPos Lib "user32" _
(ByVal handle As Long, ByVal hWndInsertAfter As Long, ByVal x As Long, ByVal y As Long, _
ByVal cx As Long, ByVal cy As Long, ByVal wFlags As Long) As Long
[Code]....
The problem is that it reduces the window size so that you can only see the title bar and min/max/close buttons. Also, even that does not stay on top of other windows.
I have used this function before on a windows 7 machine (instead of xp which this one is on) and it worked fine.
im using vb.net to open IE and go to a website... i can figure out how to size the window, but not change the windows location on the screen... how can i make the IE window position always 0,0
Dim oIE As Object
Dim hWnd As Long
oIE = CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application")[code].....

Im trying to make a radiobutton move diagonaly, (Dont ask why a radiobutton, i did it in college last week) For some strange reason though I need another radiobutton just going across the screen in order for my diagonal radiobutton to move.I would like to develop this into a game like pong, when I have gone further into VB.
View 3 RepliesI'm trying to bullied a simple cheap software to rise money.Any way, I managed to make a serial login form but the problem is I need it to appear only once pear purchase, meaning as soon as you enter it once, it will be saved and the login form wont popup when the program gets started again on the same PC. Here is my code so far:
ic Class Form11
Private Sub Form11_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load
End Sub
[code]....
Also, how can I generate more serial codes?
I am trying to make it so when a user logs in the code can tell, if they are a user or not, if they are a user, then if they are a teacher or not. I have SQL in there to identify if the person is a user or not, but it won't bring up an error message if they aren't. And if both the users logging in are not teachers they are still able to view a screen they are not meant to.

I am making a calculator-like program, and would like to make it so that it is always the front-most form, even when another program (like Firefox) is clicked. While Firefox is the active form, my form is still up. Basically, I'd like to make the form like the on-screen keyboard; it never really minimizes unless you specifically tell it to.

making a screen recorder. make it take a screenshot 15-30 times a second, and for each shot there will be a text file that will say the location of the cursor when the shot was taken and what the cursor was, like loading or whatever. Then when the user presses save, it will take all the shots, import the cursor in each one and then create an AVI using each of the frames that were initially shot. Another better way would be to take a screenshot with the cursor in it, if thats possible.
