VS 2008 Getting Controls From Tabpages?
Jan 21, 2011I've hit a roadblock and really need help with looping through tabconrol's tabpage's, getting each tabpage's parent name and richtextbox control's text value. I have a ctabcontrol that has ctabpage tabpages, which also have Usercontrol's on the body of each tab. I developed a FindAll to search through each openned tabpage's richtextbox in the mdi parent container form. However, I cannot get the for loop to produce any values for the controls. All values are 0. The richtextbox.text value is empty. I even tried to produce a value with TabControlCollection to no avail, it shows 0 tabs in the collection even though I have 3 tabs open in the mdi parent container. How can I get the actual controls and values from other tabs so I can evaluate them in my Find tabpage functons?

I've got code that sets their BackColors to Red, and their DockStyle is set to fill, but they just don't show up. Here's my code for the CustomTabControl:

Referencing Duplicate Controls On Multiple Tabpages?
Mar 11, 2010I have a program that allows the user to add steps to a process (tabpages in a control). All tabpages are generated on the fly by duplicating a "template" tabpage and consequently have the same control names such as textboxStepDesc. Here is the hierarchy of the controls to get to textboxStepDesc. Both TabPage1 and TabPage2 are in TabControl1

Since textboxStepDesc exists in Panel1 in both TabPage1 and TabPage2, how do I specify that I want to retrieve the value of textboxStepDesc.text on tabpage2 vs. textboxStepDesc.text on tabpage1?
Replicate Panel With Controls On Multiple TabPages?
Mar 11, 2010I have a project where I need to add TabPages to a TabControl. I have a Panel with 10 checkboxes on it and I want to replicate that onto each TabPage as it is added.What I get is it is added to the first page, then when I add a second tabpage, the panel is moved there and not replicationed even though I used the (Add) method.

Jul 29, 2009I have an MDI application which uses fixed sized forms. I've started to change the forms to sizeable and anchored the controls so they move when the form is resized. If the child form has a menu this jumps onto the parent menu (as it always has done) but all the controls move up the form at runtime and leave a space at the bottom of the child. If I change the form in design mode to cut through the bottom controls i.e. so the form doesn't appear tall enough, it corrects itself at runtime. Is there another workaround as it looks misleading in the designer.

May 8, 2011i have created a dynamic tabpage and a dynamic tablelayoutpanel inside it then added dynamic textboxes and labels inside the tablelayoutpanel...the thing is , i am having a problem on how to access the value of those textboxes and labels and add them as new columns in the new table(tagpage) in mysql database, i can already create the table in the database but i cant add the new columns in it. heres the code for accessing the values of the labels and textboxes

Move Controls From One To Another?
Oct 26, 2009I had originally created an "Options" form that had all my different options checkboxes and settings. I am implementing a new layout for the UI and am wanting to move all the contents of the Options form to the main form without having to redo a bunch of code.
I know cutting and pasting will "break it", so I'm not sure how to do it with minimal effort. is this doable?

Apr 23, 2012I have a FlowPanelLayout that can contain several UserControls called DataGridViewFilterSortElement. These controls look kind of like buttons, but different. I want the user to be able to click one of the DataGridViewFilterSortElement controls and drag it to another position (index) in the FlowLayoutPanel. Is there a way to see the control physically moving as the user drags it to another position? In other words, is there a way to take a "snap shot" of the control that is being dragged (instead of a shadowed box) which would show the actual control moving as the cursor moves?
Also, as the control is being dragged I'd like to have the other controls position to shift automatically instead of waiting for the user to drop the drag to see the shifts. For example, let's say the FlowPanelLayout contains 3 controls and the user wants to drag the first control to the third controls position. So the user clicks and holds the first DataGridViewFilterSortElement, then drags over the second control, which causes the second control to shift to position 1 of 3, then the user drags over the third control, which causes the third control to shift to position 2 of 3, then the user drops the control in position 3.

Feb 25, 2011Is there any way in c# or VB to automatically move the controls in a panel when the window is resized. I do not want the Anchor property, which only resizes the control. THe use is that controls are added at runtime to the form, and when the locations/values are loaded on a computer with a larger monitor, they are in the incorrect positions.

Feb 24, 2011I've created a tab control and on one of the pages I added a button, but I cannot move the button around with the mouse!? I can change the buttons position within the tab control page using the property Location and I can size the button using the mouse and the button is NOT locked. I even tried creating a new project with just the tab control and it still does the same thing. I can, tho, move the button using the keyboard arrows!
I'm using VS2010 V10.0.30319.1 RTMREL on WinXP SP3.

Jan 15, 2010I am trying to create a way to use my arrow keys to move around some text boxes. The form has 12 textboxes moving from left to right with 4 in each row. Tab Index will be like this.

In the code I have figured out how to find the current tab index but I am having trouble moving to the next control based on which arrow key is pressed. Here is the code I have so far.

Oct 30, 2010How do I do this? If I cut and paste, then it wipes the code, sometimes the stuff doesn't even show up when I run the program (I guess it's loosing all the handler information) I read about not cutting / pasting controls in the sticky at the top.

I think I have basic understanding of anchoring and docking but I'm not getting the results I'm hoping for so I have attached some screen shots of what I'm trying to do.
It's not about re-sizing more about moving the controls to the outer edges when my form is maximized.

Jan 21, 2011I am rather irritated at this. I have no clue why looping through controls on a form and in groupboxes leaves out 75% of the controls.
Here's the code I have:

I want to have setting save all settings to an ini file, and not have to reprogram the saving routine when I add a group box or control. At random times, any number of controls can be disabled, checkboxes can be checked and unchecked, radiobuttons can be checked and unchecked. Regardless of the state of the control, I want the control to show up in the loop. But they don't. Only controls that are enabled and only checkboxes that are checked, every other control state is ignored. That's crap, and is definitely not what is needed by any programmer of any type. We're capable of determining if a control is enabled, hidden, checked, visible, and otherwise.
How do I get the controls to be included in the loop regardless of their state?

Dec 31, 2009I´m having a problem designing a recipes program with tag(url...) support/I dont know exactly hows the best way to build the tag system, the idea I had is this, Ill try to explain it though english its not my first language, sorry about that.[code]The idea is that since I cant save memory references, at the start of the program I rebuild the references of refRecipe iterating through stTag, searching for recipes which contains its tag name. Also, when creating a new recipe, I must search if the tags exist in stTag to just set refRecipe or create a new tag.I think this systems have a lot of disadvantages because of tag name duplicity. Though its fast to show tags and related recipes, its not when creating and editing recipe tags because of all the iterations, but its the better way I found to do it.
