View 1 RepliesI have a code snippet that I want to run when the app is closing. So, I used FormCLosing event. But now i wanna place a confirmation message for exiting. Like, if the user clicks the Exit(X) button, there'll be a prompt, if he clicks NO, then the app will not close and revert to previous state. Now I find that hard to achieve using FormClosing event. because it'll get executed no matter what button the user clicks.

The above code is what I used in VB6 to close all forms associated with my programs before my program closed. I have been searching for information on how to make sure all forms are closed when closing a VB2008 program.
I have seen info on using the Project Property Shutdown mode When startup form closes and I currently have this set.
Is this all that is really necessary? Will the garbage disposal close everything else to free up RAM?
Also, if I have several forms open and want to close all from the main form without closing each one individually, what is the best approach? Is there a collection like in VB6, go through the collection, compare it to the name of the main form and close it if it is not the main form?
If i use the form.showdialog method to open a form, then input data.. when I close the form then re-open it the data is still there.Is there a way of restoring the forms original states, as it is on load?

I visualized these codes by linking them to VB2005.when I excuate the VB.exe, when VB calls one of these DLLs, there is no problem, but in calling the other DLL, the DLL is executed but the VB.exe is closed and the interface page to the user goes out.

The problem I am facing is the size of the rows stay the same as the pictures when there not even there, the text alignment isnt fully to the left either. Starts off in Independent sub procedure (DisplayAction - which then calls KeyDown Event) Goes into KeyDown event (KeyDown then calls DisplayAction) Goes back into original sub procedure (DisplayAction) and the loop continues. * Steps 1 and 2 work just fine in my code. is there a way i can change the entire DGV back color to something else (including those cells)i tried DataGridView3.DefaultCellStyle.BackColor = Color.Indigo but that does not seem to work on the cells already colored. Im guessing this is because im only changing the default cell color?
I have a simple translating program i working on in vb 2010.I have a combobox and a textbox and a button. What i have so far is when you select the option in the combobox the textbox and button will appear. then when you type something it replaces each letter with something new, in the same textbox.what i cant figure out is how to make it so where if i click the button again it translates the replaced letters back to the original ones.

Here is a quick example- I made a little program that gives you general information about your computer, when you click a button it sets the text box to specific information. One of the text boxes gives you the Version of your OS. I would like to know if there is a way to send the information in that text box back to me when someone clicks it and they are connected to the internet. FYI I would tell the person who clicks it before so that I am not stealing information, plus what is there to steal from a simple program I made.

I have 2 forms. When a user clicks something on form1, form2 pops up. After user is done with form2 and closes it (where the dataset is updated), I want form1 to "reload" the dataset to reflect changes made in form2.

View 2 RepliesI am working on a program and for some reason when I run it as an executable outside of debug mode, if I run the main subroutine of the program, the process remains in memory after being closed. Even though the form is closed/gone, it will be in the process list and I have to ctl-alt-del to remove it. If I exit right after opening the form without doing anything, it closes like normal. I am closing and disposing everything I can think of, and I've never had this problem before. This is how I am exiting, but the problem also occurs if the user "X's" out.

I have a couple web file requests in my program, which is the only thing out of the ordinary (code-wise) for me, don't know if those are the root of the problem. I can't imagine this is the first time this has happened to anyone, but I couldn't find anything helpful with my search terms. Any ideas/common solutions? I can post sections of my code if it will help, but the whole thing is pretty long and I couldn't narrow down any potential problem areas.
